GENERAL
Following a track inspection conducted by stewards prior to the start of race 1, the track was upgraded to a GOOD 3.
Trainer Darcy Short was reprimanded under LR36(6) for failing to scratch dually engaged PHIL UP from one of its engagements by the prescribed time.
As jockey Chris McIver (injury) was not attending today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey McIver was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.
Trainer Wayne Baker contacted stewards prior to scratching time and advised that he was involved in a traffic incident on the way to the track, which resulted in his runner MISS RAPIDE, engaged in race 2, becoming injured. Trainer Baker was required to head back to his home stable to allow the injured horse to be treated accordingly. As a consequence, trainer Baker was unable to attend on course by the scheduled start time of Race 1, therefore both his runners engaged in the first two races were subsequently scratched. Stewards advised trainer Baker that prior to being permitted to race again, MISS RAPIDE would require a veterinary clearance.
