Post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was mildly ataxic from heat stress.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Mr T. Rowe, the trainer of WISHFUL which finished 5th, to examine the official patrol films to determine whether to lodge an objection against ORATRY being declared the winner, alleging interference leaving 100 metres. After viewing the video films, Mr Rowe elected not to lodge a protest and stewards declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers.
Near the 1100 metres MY GIRL CHARLIE had to be restrained when initially placed in restricted room by RIVARIVA, which was going forward, and then was tightened for room by MIATA (App. B. Swaffer), which shifted in and away from WISHFUL (App. S. Wiseman), despite the efforts of App. Swaffer. Simultaneously, PUDZIANOWSKI (W. D’Avila), which was racing to the inside of MY GIRL CHARLIE, shifted out and made contact with that runner, further complicating the incident.
