Race 1: Stockland Townsville QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1300m
 
CRAIGLEA GALIO – Slow to begin.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Slow to begin. Shifted wider leaving the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
EXCITING HEIGHTS – Rider C. Jokic sustained a kick to her right ankle by another runner behind the barriers, however subsequently declared herself free of injury and was able to fulfil her engagement.
 
SAQSAYWAMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: Up & Coming Stayers Wilson/RyanGrose Lawyers Benchmark 65 H’cap – 2000m
 
Correct weight was delayed when jockey K. Stone, rider of the 2nd placegetter, BARWON, lodged an objection against ROYAL SCRIPT (C. Whiteley) being declared the winner alleging interference near the 350m. After hearing submissions from the riders and connections of the respective horses, stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.  
MISHANI CENTURION – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SLADE AMIGOS – Raced wide rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion before assuming the lead near the 1500m. Bumped by another runner near the 200m.
 
CASTA – Raced wide rounding the home turn on the first occasion before shifting closer to the rail near the 1400m. Hung out rounding the home turn and then was forced wider near the 350m, crowding runners to its outside.
 
BARWON – Hampered near the 350m and momentarily steadied.
 
ALOOF’S TURF – Over-raced in the middle stages and shifted in under pressure near the 200m, bumping another runner.
 
SANOSUKE – Disappointed for a run near the 500m, having to be steadied and then raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
CROCODILE SHOES – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 350m, forcing another runner wider and crowding runners to it outside. Jockey N. Day, rider of CROCODILE SHOES, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 3: Mater Emergency Class 6 Plate 1000m
 
BEAU JET – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner near the 750m.
 
CHOI OI – Raced ungenerously leaving the 700m and shifted out abruptly near the 500m. Rider W. D’Avila was of the opinion that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit.
 
CRUISE POWER – Bumped by another runner near the 750m.
 
JAYDENTOM – Shifted in near the 750m, bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BOLD XAVVI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: Mater Orthopaedic Services Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1609m
 
AESOP – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer G. Porter for the late declaration of D. Simmons as the rider of the horse. Slow to begin.
 
HE’S ALL HEART – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DORDOGNE – Tightened for room near the 350m and was restrained.
 
COLLYWOBBLE – Forced out and clipped the heels of another runner and had to be checked near the 350m.
PROFUSIVE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
DESERT GREY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
CELESTIAL JEWEL – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.  Rider N. Day, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 350m he directed his mount outwards when insufficiently clear of DORDOGNE (C. Whiteley), which was tightened for room and forced out, making contact with COLLYWOBBLE (S. Wiseman), which in turn was forced out across the heels of CARLINO’S WAY (P. Cullen), clipping that runner’s heels and being checked. Jockey N. Day‘s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 2/08/2018 and to expire midnight 14/08/2018.
 
ROBABANK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CARLINO’S WAY – Raced wide for the majority of the race. 
 
Race 5: WF Electrical Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1200m
 
FLYING ONE MORE – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner near the 350m and became unbalanced.
 
DEVIOUS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
IMPERIAL BELLE – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
 
DEXTEROUS – Shifted out near the 350m, making contact with another runner.
 
Race 6: Mater Cardiac Services Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
LET’S GO TO RIO – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ARNO BAY – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.
 
BEST HOFFA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CHATEAU MAROUX – Over-raced in the early and middle stages, having to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions between the 800m and 500m.
 
 
Race 7: The Mater Townsville Cup Open H’cap – 2000m
 
IT AND A BIT – Began awkwardly.  Ridden hard to obtain the lead in the early stages and made the turn out of the straight on the first occasion awkwardly.
 
UNION JUKEBOX – Bagan awkwardly. Made the turn out of the straight awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BALBOA ROCKS – Rider R. Wiggins reported on return to scale that the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 500m and was further of the opinion that the horse was not comfortable in its action.  A post-race examination revealed the horse to be sore in the near side hoof. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the horse being permitted to race again.  
 
DAZZLING PRIDE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROYAL STANDING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RANKED – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 8: Lazy Yak Cleveland Bay Open H’cap – 1300m
 
AVONACO – Slow to begin. Hampered near the 500m. Restrained near the 100m when attempting a doubtful run between runners, inconveniencing other runners.  Rider S. Wiseman was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
DEVINE SERVICE - After being initially slow to begin, was tightened for room soon after and lost ground.
 
MR CHAPLIN – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards at the start hampering runners to its inside. Inconvenienced near the 100m when another runner made contact with its hind quarters, turning it outwards.
 
BEAUDRAGON – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards at the start hampering runners to   its outside.
 
MASON’S CHANCE – Tightened for room on jumping away. Hampered near the 500m.
 
RHYTHME NOR RHYTHM – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PINYARDA – Shifted out near the 1200m, making heavy contact with another runner. Inconvenienced near the 100m when another runner made contact with its hind quarters, turning it inwards.  
 
KIEVANN – Trainer L. Herne was fined the $100 under LR67(1)(3) in that she failed to declare a rider by the prescribed time   Bumped heavily near the 1200m.
 
DECONSTRUCTED – Hampered near the 500m. Shifted out when attempting a narrow run between runners near the 100m, becoming inconvenienced. Rider C. Jokic was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
BUSHY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Faltered near the 500m and was retired from the race near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding have severely injured its off front leg and as a result was euthanized on humane grounds.
