GENERAL
As J. Stanley was unable to attend the meeting due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: JULY 10 WELCOME OWNERS, TRAINERS & MEMBERS MAIDEN H'CAP- 1000M
 
CALCULUS – The gelding, which was resuming after a lengthy absence from racing underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to race. Slowly away. Buffeted between runners soon after the start. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted in abruptly near the 700m despite the efforts of jockey B. Pengelly, inconveniencing a runner to its inside.
 
ALL STAR ROCKET – Jumped in abruptly at the start, tightening runners to its inside.
 
STOLEN DIAMONDS – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced ungenerously when crossed by another runner near the 800m. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in abruptly near the 700m.
 
PANTONE – Severely tightened on jumping, losing ground.
 
THE WAITERS EYE – Slowly away after being inconvenienced on jumping.
 
DE CARLO – Severely tightened on jumping, losing ground as a result. Raced greenly for the majority of the event.
 
DELILAH’S DREAM – Slowly away. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MIZ MACEY – Inconvenienced on jumping.
 
TOSCAVALE ROAD – Shifted in on jumping, inconveniencing runners to its inside. The gelding lost its off fore plate in running.
 
Race 2: JULY 11 WELCOME COMMITTEE & DIGNITARIES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
 
ANCIENT ECHOES – Began awkwardly. Held up for a short distance soon after straightening.
 
CHEVAUX – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
HAZAR – After making contact with a placegetter’s stall when leaving the mounting yard, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Inconvenienced near the 1000m. Unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight, and not able to be fully tested.
 
WICKED DANCER – Slowly away after bumping with another runner on jumping. Tightened a tiring runner to its outside when attempting a marginal run near the 200m. Jockey P. Cullen was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
DEIGO BAY – Slowly away. Hung out approaching the home turn, inconveniencing runners to its outside despite the efforts of jockey N. Day. Shifted in sharply under pressure passing the 200m, tightening a tiring runner to its inside. Jockey Day was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
INTENSE FOCUS – Inconvenienced when racing in restricted room near the 1000m. Had to be restrained off heels several times in the middle stages.
 
FANAAR – Slowly away after bumping with another runner on jumping. When tiring passing the 200m had to be restrained when tightened between runners.
 
KANUI – Began awkwardly.
 
BATTLE CRY – Was racing ungenerously when crowded by another runner near the 1000m, shifting in as a result and inconveniencing runners to its inside. Had to be checked and lost its position near the 250m.
 
RISING BOOM – Inconvenienced approaching the home turn.
 
STELLA STARLITE – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Inconvenienced approaching the home turn.
 
EVIL EYE MAC – Jockey F Edwards pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that, approaching the 250m, he permitted his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of BATTLE CRY (C Whiteley) which had established a rails run to his inside, resulting in BATTLE CRY having to be severely checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Edwards’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence on Sunday June 28, 2020 up to and including Thursday July 9, 2020. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Edwards’ forthright evidence and guilty plea. Stewards considered the level of both carelessness and interference in the incident to be in the mid-range. Jockey Edwards was advised of his right to Internal Review.
 
Race 3: JULY 12 WELCOMING THE EVENT INDUSTRY CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
 
FUNKY MUSIC – Restrained across heels near the 1000m to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
LICKETY LACHIE – Restrained near the 800m when tightened by another runner which had improved to its outside. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
THAT’S TWO SLABS – Slowly away. Inconvenienced soon after jumping.
 
GENERAL SHORT – Began awkwardly, shifting out, inconveniencing another runner. Faltered in its action near the 800m and was eased out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr. R Chillemi was advised a Veterinary clearance will be required prior to next race start.
 
HOWYALIKEMENOW – Unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
CHEEKY REWARD – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FLUIDITY – Slowly away.
 
MISS CELITA – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
SOLDIERS – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
WRITTEN IMAGE – Shifted in when improving near the 1000m crossing another runner when not fully clear. Jockey B Thomson was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). Was tiring when inconvenienced near the 150m after being placed in restricted room between 2 other runners.
 
MONKEY MAGIC – Had to be restrained near the 1000m when crossed by another runner which was not fully clear. Shifted in when improving near the 800m tightening a runner to its inside. Jockey P Cullen was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
Race 4: GET YOUR MEMBERSHIP ONLINE NOW RATINGS BAND 0 – 58 H'CAP – 1000M
 
ALLEVIATOR – Blundered near the 800m after clipping the heels of a runner in front. Restrained off heels near the 400m. Inconvenienced when crowded by another runner which shifted in under pressure near the 300m.
 
HARVEST PRIDE – Slowly away. Lost further ground after being tightened for running soon after jumping.
 
FINAL WARNING – Shifted in on jumping, tightening a runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CHAT TIME – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MAN O’ROSS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
NINEONEONE – Jockey C Whiteley reported the filly had raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages when in amongst runners, proving difficult to ride. Lost the near fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SPEEDYCOM – Shifted in under pressure near the 300m, crowding another runner.
 
INVINCIBLE TAMMY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TRAVERS – Began awkwardly.
 
CEEBIZ KIT – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. When questioned Trainer Ms. J Hassett advised that the gelding, which in her opinion, had benefitted from a much needed spell following a lengthy preparation when last in work, had pleased her in its work leading up to today’s race, and she had been anticipating a forward showing. Ms. Hassett also advised that the gelding had been modestly supported by connections.
 
COMPERE – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
SUGAR RAY RED – Unable to obtain clear running for some distance passing the 100m.
 
Race 5: NORTHERN CLASSIC QTIS 2YO PLATE – 1200M
 
TENNESSEE BOY – After racing wide for the majority of the event had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey W. D’Avila was severely reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account the totality of jockey D’Avila’s whip use.
 
GOODBYE EARL – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
NICHOLAS ADAM – Buffeted between runners soon after jumping.
 
WHICH LILY – Laid in near the 100m.
 
DREAM OF DUBAI – Fractious pre-race. The tongue-tie became loose en route to the barriers and as it could not be refitted the filly raced without that piece of gear. Trainer Ms G. Holt was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s pre-race manners.
 
GUSTNADO – Shifted in on jumping, inconveniencing runners to its inside.
 
Race 6: TAB DOWNLOAD THE APP QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1200M
 
BET ON LOVE – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted out marginally near the 1100m, inconveniencing another runner. Bumped with another runner near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MAGIC DESERT MOON – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KISS ME LATER – Became unbalanced when bumped by another runner near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
EL OF A SAGA – Inconvenienced near the 1100m.
 
KWIKILLA – Slowly into stride after being inconvenienced on jumping. Shifted in around heels near the 300m.
 
SOLDATI – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to GOOD 4.
 
Race 7: COCA-COLA AMATIL RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 H'CAP – 1609M
 
CAPTAINS WAY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RED PHANTOM – Slowly away. Had to be restrained for some distance after improving on to heels when overracing in the middle stages.
 
FOLLOW ON – Proved difficult to load. Trainer Ms O. Cairns was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
HONEST NATALIE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPIRITED CHARACTER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 8: BROWN BROTHERS OPEN H'CAP – 1609M
 
DALON – Shifted out near the 1550m, bumping with another runner.
 
WE JUST LOVE IT – Slowly away.
 
ZAMEX – Bumped by another runner near the 1550m.
 
BUSTER BLOCK – Jockey P. Cullen was fined the sum of $200 under AR132(6)(b) for use of the whip in an action above shoulder height.
 
DORDOGNE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
ARMS RACE – Slowly away.
 
SUPER MARIO – Slowly away. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
Race 9: POLVIN FENCING CLASS 6 PLATE – 1400M
 
MASKING – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
UNBIASED – Jockey A. Holt was severely reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account the totality of jockey Holt’s whip use.
 
HUTCHO – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with another runner.
 
PURE HAWK – After being disqualified from its 1st placing in Race 5 at Townsville on 1 October 2019, which was a Benchmark 65 Handicap, under the provisions of AR177(3) the horse was re-handicapped from 58.5kg to 57kg. Inconvenienced on jumping.
 
DROPS OF JUPITER – Jumped out at the start, inconveniencing runners to its outside.
 
CROCODILE SHOES – Slowly into stride. Restrained off heels near the 1000m.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ATTIQUE – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced soon after jumping.
 
Race 10: BRILLIANT TOUCH UPS OPEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
DEADLY CHOICES – Slowly into stride after being inconvenienced on jumping.
 
DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Slowly into stride. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m. Was severely hampered near the 900m when following another runner which was racing very ungenerously.
 
BOLD ENDEAVOUR – Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery rate.
 
EL TORANADO – Jumped in at the start, inconveniencing another runner
 
WARWICK AVENUE – Began awkwardly.
 
IMANUI – Slowly away.
 
MISHANI REDMAN – Commenced to race ungenerously passing the 1000m placing Jockey B Thomson at a severe disadvantage, having to be restrained for some distance, and as a result severely hampering a runner which was following near the 900m. On returning to the enclosure was found to have got its tongue over the bit in running.
 
BEAU JET – Shifted in marginally near the 1000m, placing another runner in restricted room. Jockey B. Pengelly was advised to exercise more care.
 
CEDARWOOD – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Jockey C. Whiteley was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip.
 
TAMBO’S HEART – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped with another runner soon after straightening.
 
LAST CHANCE – Slowly away.
 
OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Overraced in the middle stages. Bumped with another runner soon after straightening.
