SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Home Hill 22/05/2021

Race 6. Benchmark 70 Handicap 1200m

BALMACEDA - Trainer B Thomson advised that subsequent to the running of this event the gelding was found to have a minor laceration to the off fore fetlock.

GENERAL

As Jockey R Wiggins was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to injury rider changes were made as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Wiggins was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.

Race 1: CAPRAL ALUMINIUM MAIDEN PLATE 1609m

SHADOW ECLIPSE - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 100m.

ARMAGEDDON FLYER - Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously rounding the 1400m turn.

BOTOX LADY - Shifted out and away from another runner which took the 1400m turn awkwardly. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running. Raced wide throughout.

HOPE AS ALWAYS - Raced wide throughout.

EXCLUSIVE MO - On returning to scale Jockey C Whiteley advised that his mount felt sore in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer’s Representative T Rowe was advised a Veterinary clearance will be required prior to next race start.

Race 2: PRESTIGE MOBILE CAR DETAILING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609m

SALESMAN - Began awkwardly. Shifted in marginally soon after straightening crowding a runner to its inside. App K Swaffer was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

GUANGZHOU - Raced wide for the majority.

ZOUVILLA - Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.

UP THE RIVER – Jockey G Kliese was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. This was Jockey Kliese’s 4th breach of the rule.

ODDFELLOW – Had to be restrained when crowded by another runner soon after entering the home straight and was held up for clear running until a point near the 100m.

Jockey N Nelson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 500m she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount SIZZLING SUN from shifting in onto the running of SALESMAN (App K Swaffer) which had to be restrained and lost ground. ODDFELLOW (A Sewell) which was following also had to be restrained, losing ground. Jockey Nelson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence, following the completion of a previous suspension, on Monday June 14, 2021 up to and including Wednesday June 23, 2021. In determining penalty Stewards considered the degree of interference which was deemed to be in the low range, Jockey Nelson’s recent record in relation to the rule, as well as her guilty plea. Jockey Nelson was advised of her right to an internal review.

Race 3: TSV CUP TICKETS ON SALE NOW QTIS 2YO CLASSIC PRELUDE HANDICAP 1200m

BOOMED - Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding home turn.

WELL CHARRED - Slowly into stride. Raced wide rounding home turn.

FIGURED - Slowly into stride.

BEAN WARRIOR – Raced ungenerously for a short distance after making contact with the inside running rail near the 1000m and again near the 750m.

ANNIEMARIAH - Inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Jockey F Edwards was fined the sum of $800 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. This was Jockey Edwards 4th breach of the rule.

PALENCIA - Jockey G Kliese was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. This was Jockey Kliese’s 5th breach of the rule.

ETERNAL BEAN - App E Cass, when questioned, advised that after it became apparent her mount would be caught in a wide position, she elected to permit the filly to stride forward passing the 900m and eventually obtain the lead and a position closer to the inside running rail passing the 700m. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

Race 4: LADIES DAY TICKETS ON SALE NOW QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m

GAMBOA - Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

ALI’S JAB - Tightened for room and lost ground passing the 900m when a runner to its outside shifted in. Raced wide the majority.

ENDORSE - Inclined to race ungenerously from the 600m to the 400m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.

WATERWAY - Held up for clear running on entering the home straight before shifting wider approaching the 100m.

ARROGANT HEART – Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until shifting abruptly wider passing the 100m to obtain clear running.

TACTICAL ILLUSION - Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

SANCY ROSE - Raced wide for the majority.

HALCYON DAYS - Jockey C Spry advised that after beginning on terms with the field he elected to restrain his mount in an effort to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail.

ROUGH CUT JEWELL – Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Shifted in tightening a runner to its inside passing the 900m. Although Stewards acknowledged that he had made some effort to straighten his mount, Jockey B El-Issa, nonetheless, was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

Race 5: TRIVIA NIGHT FRIDAY 28 MAY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m

PROANE - Slow to begin.

CANDY GIRL - Slowly into stride.

EXCEEDINGLY KOOL - Raced wide throughout.

BREAK MY STRIDE - Inclined to lay out passing the 700m and again rounding the home turn, where it was steadied off heels.

DANAWI - Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn before shifting in marginally on straightening. Raced wide for the majority.

FUNKY MUSIC - Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

Race 6: BROWN BROTHERS WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

BUXTON – Slowly away. Held up for clear running soon after straightening to a point near the 200m.

RAIDEN - Shifted out near the 800m inconveniencing a runner to its outside.

OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out near the 800m.

MOLONGLE MAGIC – Slowly into stride. Inconvenienced when avoiding a fallen rider near the 80m.

BEAU JET - Slowly into stride. Jockey B Pengelly who complained of neck soreness following the running of this event was stood down for the remainder of the day and was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. A replacement rider was engaged as per Stewards race day summary.

TEMPLE RUN - Hung out from the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.

BOYER (NZ) - Raced wide for the majority.

FULL RECOGNITION - Reluctant to load. Raced wide for the majority, shifting wider to obtain clear running approaching the home turn. Trainer S Massingham was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

PERECT KNOWLEDGE - Stewards inquired into the tactics employed in running. Trainer G Holt advised the instructions were to ride the gelding as per its normal racing pattern, in a rearward position with cover, if circumstances permitted. Jockey A Sewell confirmed the instructions adding that after beginning well and becoming aware that the runners drawn inside were not eager to lead, he elected to press forward into a clear lead passing the 800m in order to avoid being caught wider than necessary. Jockey Sewell further stated that PERFECT KNOWLEDGE had commenced to over-race passing the 700m, continuing to do so for a considerable distance before tiring over the concluding stages.

Stewards will inquire into the reasons MOLONGLE MAGIC (D Smith) was restrained approaching the 100m, and ALICIA’S LANE blundered and dislodged App K Swaffer near the 80m. App Swaffer, who sustained a leg injury in the incident, was stood down for the remainder of the race meeting and advised she will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Replacement riders were engaged as per Stewards race day summary.

Race 7: NQ LICENSED EVENTS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400m

BOOMGATE - Began awkwardly.

HONEST NATALIE - Commenced to race awkwardly for a short distance after being eased passing the 600m. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running, inconveniencing a runner to its outside.

FLUTTERING - Shifted in marginally when being eased passing the 600m.

DON’T DOUBT LARA - Slowly into stride.

BRILLIANT MIND - Inclined to over-race in the middle stages.

TRACKMAN - Tightened between runners and lost ground passing the 200m.

SONEYMAR STAR – Taken wider when shifting out around the heels of another runner approaching the 200m.

SCENIC SIGHT - Shifted in abruptly passing the 200m causing severe tightening to a runner to its inside. App D Graham was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).

Race 8: 2YO CLASSIC TICKETS ON SALE NOW RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1200m

JUST A LOVE SONG - Bumped with another runner approaching the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.

URBAN MYTH - On returning to scale Jockey G Kliese advised that when crossing to the inside running rail near the 1100m his mount contacted the heels of another runner and blundered. Brushed the inside running rail passing the 1000m and raced awkwardly for a short distance.

ROSE CLIP - Bumped with another runner passing the 1000m. Was held up for clear running passing the 200m. Jockey B El-Issa was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

DELAGO’S GIR L- Slow to begin.

HOLOGRAM - Raced wide throughout.

LIGHTHEADEDNESS - Shifted out on jumping.

METEORANO - Began awkwardly, shifting out inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

SHE’S NIC’C OFF - Inconvenienced on jumping.

GRACEFUL ZARIFA - Shifted in on jumping inconveniencing a runner to its inside.

BUON NATALE - Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

COLLOMBATTI - Raced wide for the majority.

Jockey B Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 200m she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount BELFAST LASS from shifting out onto the running of COLOMBATTI (S SHEARGOLD) which had to be checked and was forced wider. Jockey Thomson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence Friday June 4, 2021 up to and including Friday June 11, 2021. In determining penalty Stewards considered the degree of carelessness which was deemed to be to be in the mid range, Jockey Thomson’s clean record over a long period in relation to the rule, as well as her guilty plea. Jockey Thomson was advised of her right to an internal review.
