PRIME RULER – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing a runner to its outside.

LILY OFTHE GLEN – Inconvenienced on jumping when a runner to its inside shifted out. Jockey B Thomson eased the filly down over the concluding stages as she was concerned it may have gone amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer R Miller was advised a Veterinary clearance will be required prior to next race start.

RUBY JULY – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 800m.

ALI'S JAB – Restrained across heels near the 550m to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.

Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1400m

SOLDIERS (NZ) – Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey W D’Avila was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (6th offence).

KEIGHLEY SUN – Approaching the 600m made heavy contact with TUTELAGE and became unbalanced.

MONSIEUR MACRON (NZ) – Shifted out abruptly near the 200m when shown the whip. Stewards advised connections that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

Race 3: TAB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200m

Due to a misunderstanding Jockey W D’Avila was dually engaged in this event. As a consequence, when no other suitable senior rider was to be available, at official scratching time, Stewards permitted App E Cass to accept the ride on IT’S A PLOY.

DESTROY THE STAR – Underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was found to have an old wound to the near fore pastern. Subsequently cleared to start.

ANNIEMARIAH – Raced wide for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Jockey F Edwards advised that the filly had travelled comfortably in the run, although wider than he would have liked, but had failed to respond as expected in the home straight. A post-veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, however Trainer G Holt did report the following morning that the filly had bruising around its left eye.

BOOMED – Hampered soon after jumping by a runner to its outside which shifted in under hard riding. Inclined to over-race when awkwardly placed in restricted room passing the 1000m.

FIGURED – Slowly into stride.

GOSSIPING GIRL – Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 200m App Z Lloyd dropped his outside rein making it difficult for him to control the path of his mount resulting in GOSSIPING GIRL shifting in. Simultaneously KOHEETO (B Thomson) was improving into a run to the inside of GOSSIPING GIRL and had to be checked as a result. A short distance later shifted out across the heels of IT’S A PLOY causing inconvenience to THIRSTY (L Morrison). As Stewards were of the opinion that both incidents occurred as a result of the difficulties App Lloyd was experiencing due to dropping his rein in running no action was taken against App Lloyd other to advise him that the incident would be referred to the RQ Rider Skills Panel.

IT'S A PLOY – The gelding, which raced at Townsville on June 24, 2021 underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under riding in the home straight inconveniencing a runner to its inside. App E Cass was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

LOCKDOWN LADY – Shifted in on jumping contacting the hind quarters of ANNIEMARIAH. Hampered for a stride by a runner which was shifting in under pressure near the 200m. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed a minor wound to the off hind leg.

THIRSTY – Put in an awkward stride and became momentarily unbalanced soon after jumping.

Race 4: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m

Jockey G Kliese, who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to illness, was replaced by Jockey S Sheargold as the rider of TIGER CAN. Jockey Kliese was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to his next race ride.

COASTAL BOY- Steadied off heels approaching the 1000m. Over-raced in the middle stages.

DANAWI – Slowly away. Restrained off heels near the 1000m.

LIFETIME QUEST – Restrained passing the 1000m when awkwardly placed in restricted room.

TAWHIRI – Shifted in when ridden hard out of the barriers hampering runners to its inside. App M Potgieter was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

TIGER CAN – Slowly away after being hampered soon after jumping.

SHEPHERD OF FIRE – Inconvenienced on jumping.

EL OF A SAGA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure passing the 200m.

CHIC SOX – Inconvenienced passing the 200m.

Jockey S Wilson was found guilty of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 100m he directed his mount WILLYGOOD out around the heels of EL OF A SAGA (App E Cass) onto the running of SHEPHERD OF FIRE (W D’Avila) which was severely checked, becoming unbalanced and almost dislodging Jockey W D’Avila. COASTAL BOY (App K Swaffer) which was racing to the outside of SHEPHERD OF FIRE was also hampered in this incident. Although Stewards acknowledged that EL OF A SAGA, which was racing in advance at the time of WILLYGOOD did shift ground outwards prior to the incident, they were of the opinion that WILLYGOOD had never, at any stage, established a run to the outside of EL OF A SAGA and that the sole cause of the interference suffered by SHEPHERD OF FIRE was a result of Jockey Wilson’s decision to shift out abruptly in order to create clear running for his mount to improve into. Jockey Wilson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence 7th July, 2021 up to and including 19th July, 2021. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Jockey Wilson’s record in relation to the rule, as well as the degree of carelessness and interference, both of which were deemed to be in the mid to high range. Jockey Wilson was advised of his right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer.

Race 5: NQ LICENSED EVENTS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1609m

GUANGZHOU – Slowly into stride. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure down the running.

REBEL LAKE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Buffeted on several occasions when racing tight between runners rounding the home turn.

POETIC ATTACKS – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 400m.

POWER LIFT (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Race 6: TSV CUP TICKETS ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000m

PARIS IN MAY – Raced wide for the majority.

NORWEGIAN WOOD – Slowly into stride.

MISS DEFIANCE – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Trainer D Veivers was advised that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start.

App Z Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 100m he permitted ELITE STANDARD to shift in dictating the line of GIORDANO (S Sheargold) in onto the running of NORWEGIAN WOOD (W D’Avila) which was severely checked, and further, after straightening his mount he again permitted it to shift in under riding approaching the winning post dictating the line of GIORDANO in onto the running of NORWEGIAN WOOD which was again checked. App Lloyd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 9th July, 2021 up to and including 16th July, 2021. In assessing penalty Stewards considered App Lloyd’s guilty plea, his conduct during the inquiry and his relative inexperience.
