DREAM LUV- Began awkwardly.

INHISTIME- Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with another runner. Inclined to shift in under pressure down the running. Jockey R Wiggins was unable to offer any tangible reason for the poor performance stating that his mount travelled reasonably well but failed to let down as expected. Trainer M McGuire advised that he would now look to experiment with a gear change prior to again racing at which time he would seek to have the gelding ridden in a more conservative fashion. Stewards noted the explanations.

GREY MISSILE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and was obliged to steady off heels before shifting wider. Crowded for room when attempting to improve between runners and obliged to steady passing the 150m. Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the gelding specifically why App R Shred elected to restrain her mount in the early stages. App Shred advised that her instructions had been to have her mount where he was comfortable and try and finish the race off, adding that after receiving some pressure from the outside early she elected to restrain her mount. Trainer R Chillemi advised that his instructions had been to be positive out of the barrier, obtain cover if possible and try and finish the race off. Stewards questioned App Shred as to whether there had been an opportunity in the early stages to slightly pressure or not restrain her mount in order to obtain a more forward position to the inside of or just behind CHIVARGO (S Pawsey). App Shred concurred that with the benefit of hindsight this would have been a better option than restraining in the early stages. Stewards noted the explanations.

SUCH A WHIT- Dwelt in the barrier. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MOLONGLE MAGIC- Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted out marginally passing the 150m hampering another runner. App K Swaffer was reminded of her obligations.

PLEASURE BOMB- Passing the 200m was tightened for room and obliged to check, shifted in and bumped with the hind quarters of another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a minor laceration to the right fore heel in running.

TIDES OF TOKYO- Passing the 200m became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by another runner which was being tightened for room.

POWER LIFT- Jockey S Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a), the particulars being that Passing the 200m Jockey Sheargold did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FORGIATO (S Pawsey) causing that runner to be checked and shift in tightening the running of PLEASURE BOMB (S Wilson) which was oblighed to check and shift in bumping with the hindquarters of TIDES OF TOKYO (W D’Avila) causing that runner to become unbalanced. Jockey Sheargold’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 11 days to commence Sunday 19th September up to and including Wednesday 29th September. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of the degree of carelessness and interference which were deemed to be in the mid-range, Jockey Sheargold’s guilty plea, his good record in relation to the rule and his forthright evidence. Jockey Sheargold was advised of his right to an internal review.
