Race 1: EQUINE SOLUTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

COUNT THE BEERS - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in marginally passing the 1000m. Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running.

RIVER TYCOON - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to race keenly in the early stages. Inclined to layout under pressure down the running.

LITTLE IVY - Crowded for racing room passing the 1000m.

BOOM BABY - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to over-race in the early stages. Raced keenly having to be restrained off the heels of another runner approaching the 600m.

TIDEWAY - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MAHKOTA ROSE - Shifted in marginally passing the 1000m inconveniencing another runner. Jockey J Felix was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR211(1) after weighing in more than 0.5kg overweight.

MARINASARA - Slow to begin.

TINY TIARA - After arriving at the barrier was found to have dislodged the tongue tie enroute and had that piece of gear refitted. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously passing the 1000m.

TACKLE - Inclined to lay out for the majority. Raced wide throughout. Finished tailed off. Trainer J Campeao advised connections would now consider the gelding’s immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Mr Campeao was advised the gelding’s nominations at TAB venues would be refused until such time as its country for had been proven.

Race 2: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1300m

KING JESTER - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Obliged to restrain passing the 600m when crowded for racing room.

SANTA MARINELLA - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted out when not fully clear of another runner passing the 600m. Jockey L Morrison was reprimanded for careless riding as a result of this incident.

MOODY’S LUCK - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

BOOMED - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Over-raced, having to be restrained off heels passing the 900m when the pace slackened and continued to do so for some distance. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost the near fore plate in running.

ARAWELO - Inclined to over-race on heels when the pace slackened passing the 1000m and continued to do so until a point near the 500m.

HALLSIDE HAMMER - Inclined to race ungenerously passing the 1000m, and once crossed passing the 900m had to be restrained, over-racing from that point to the 500m.

SPIRIT MEISTER - App M Potgieter accidentally dropped his whip passing the 50m.

KAMARCHER - Shifted wider from the 800m. Inclined to race ungenerously from the 700m. On returning to scale Jockey C Whiteley advised that his mount had been inclined to over-race and hang out from the 700m and on returning to the mounting yard was found to have gotten its tongue over the bit in running. Trainer’s representative B Herne advised a gear change will be considered prior to next race start.

Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609m

Trainer G Hughes was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR43 for employing an unlicensed person.

CONQUERING JUDAS - Inclined to race keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted out around heels to improve passing the 200m. Trainer G Hughes, when questioned into what appeared on face value to be an improved performance, advised that the gelding, at its previous start at Atherton on December 18,2021, had been very slowly away losing considerable ground, and as a consequence had to be hard ridden throughout to maintain touch with the field, before finishing off fairly.

PLUCKERCARN - Shifted wider from the 600m.

JOEL - Held up upon entering the home straight until a point near the 150m.

MUFASTA - Obliged to steady momentarily when a runner to its inside shifted out.

THREE PHASE - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained an indeterminant injury to its off foreleg. Acting on veterinary advice the mare was transported off-course for further assessment and treatment. Trainer G Bourke, who was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to next race start, undertook to advise of the mare’s condition in the coming days.

Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200m

ASHTON BLAIR - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

LIGHTHORSE LAD - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MBAPPE - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ROYAL SHEEN - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

WICKED DANCER - Held up for clear running on entering the home straight before shifting wider passing the 150m.

MALAWI GOLD - Over-raced having to be restrained off heels passing the 700m and shifted wider hampering another runner.

TELL EVERYBODY- Momentarily hampered passing the 700m by a runner which shifted out whilst over-racing. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM CLUDEN PARK OPEN HANDICAP 1400m

AMUTHON – Very slow to begin. Trainer C McCann was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

AMERICAN GENUIS - Brushed the running rail passing the 1000m.

LANGHRO – Brushed the running rail passing the 1000m. Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the gelding. Jockey C Whiteley advised that it was not his intention to lead by so far but after beginning only fairly and riding forward in the early stages the gelding, despite his efforts, refused to settle after finding the lead and consequently tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Trainer G Bourke advised her instructions were to be positive from the barrier and preferably lead but was disappointed to see the gelding lead by so far. Stewards noted the respective comments and adjourned the matter to allow for an examination of wagering on the event to be conducted.

Race 6: BROWN BROTHERS BENCHMARK 70 HANDOCAP 1000m

MISS ESTER – Stewards acting under the provisions of AR107(2) ordered that both front plates be removed prior to the start when found to be loose. Fractious in the barrier. Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer N Nelson was advised the mare would be required to satisfactorily trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

FOCUS - Steadied approaching the 700m.

DAWN TOO GOOD - Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages.

HIT SNOOZE - Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner. Inclined to over-race in the early stages.

RED PERONI - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

WILD WIND - Raced wide for the majority.

THERESABEARINTHERE - Jockey S Sheargold lost his near side iron passing the 300m, placing him at a disadvantage from that point.

Race 7: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m

DUSKY DAMSEL - As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey R McMahon to ride the gelding 1kg over its allocated weight. Jockey R McMahon was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR190(3).

PLEASURE BOMB - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

GAMETIME - As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey J Felix to ride the mare 1kg over its allocated weight. Jockey Felix was severely reprimanded under the provisions or AR232(b) in that he failed to notify Stewards of his intention to ride overweight by the prescribed time. Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly and bumping with another runner. On returning to scale Jockey J Felix advised his saddle had shifted near the 500m placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event, and causing his mount to become unbalanced on a number of occasions over the concluding stages

TEMPO - Slowly into stride, bumped with another runner.

KARBOURS - Over-raced passing the 1000m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer C Attard advised connections would now consider the gelding’s immediate racing future.

GOSSIPING GIRL - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.

SMARTY LEE - Raced wide for the majority.

BOONA BOY - Slowly into stride. Raced very wide rounding the home turn taking another runner wider.

DEADLY DIVA - Raced wide for the majority. Forced wider rounding the home turn by another runner.

Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for excessive application of the whip on POLHAMPTON (14 times in total).
