GENERAL

Due to predicted sultry weather conditions this race meeting was conducted under the provisions of the QRIC caring for animals in extreme heat policy.

Jockey F Edwards who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to illness was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary.

The following over-weights were permitted by Stewards:

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

28TH November 2021

Trainer N Nelson was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR43 for permitting an unlicensed person to engage in Stable Hand duties.

Race 1. BROWN BROTHERS QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000m

BOGAN PRINCESS - As Jockey A Thomson was unable to satisfy the allocated weight Jockey L McCoy was substituted as rider of the filly. Jockey Thomson was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3). Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MR WHITTINGTON - Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner soon after jumping. After beginning on terms with the field was under pressure early to maintain contact and assumed a rearward position.

ALTAR BOY - Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. When attempting to improve into a narrow run passing the 200m was accidentally struck across the nose by another rider’s whip when that runner shifted in marginally.

LITTLE RUNAWAY - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

KANGERONG MISS - Inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Trainer B Williams was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. After the filly was found to have pulled up shin sore Mr Williams was advised that should it start within a period of six weeks it would require a veterinary certificate of fitness.

QUEEN NOLA - Inclined to hang out from the 600m. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow post-race recovery.

RED HOT POKER - Shifted in marginally under pressure passing the 200m.

HEEZ ALRITE - Jockey S Wilson was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip on a beaten runner.

Race 2. TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m

MAYA’S SONG - Slowly into stride.

VEVI PASS - Slowly into stride before being inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out on jumping.

JACK O’DIAMONDS - Shifted out soon after jumping inconveniencing another runner. Raced wide throughout.

GRISHAM - Bumped the inside running rail passing the 700m and became momentarily unbalanced.

VALIANT KNIGHT - Bumped with the inside running rail passing the 700m and became momentarily unbalanced. Steadied rounding the home turn.

FESSUP - Jockey J Stanley advised that he would have preferred to have had his mount closer in the run but it was not responsive to his urgings in the early stages and, in his opinion, is looking for further distances than that of today’s event.

Race 3. LIVING TURF OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

BOOTSHAKER - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

SYLVESTER – When questioned into the gelding’s performance Jockey L Morrison advised that after beginning only fairly the gelding felt flat today and had failed to respond to her riding in the home straight. Trainer S Hoffman stated that she was of the opinion SYLVESTER may have come to the end of its preparation and a decision on the gelding’s immediate racing future would be reached in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, and a swab sample was obtained for analysis.

Race 4. HYGAIN QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

WELL CHARRED - Began awkwardly, jumped out and bumped with another runner. Crowded for racing room approaching the 1000m and commenced to race ungenerously when restrained off the heels of another runner. On returning to the mounting enclosure was found to have lost the near fore plate in running.

FLAMING ASTEROID - Shifted in on jumping and bumped with another runner before being taken wider by that runner and subsequently buffeted between runners having to be steadied. Commenced to race ungenerously when being restrained passing the 1000m.

CANADIAN COMET - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Restrained off heels passing the 1000m.

LA FORTUNA - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted in when being steadied approaching the 1000m crowding another runner before being corrected by its rider and shifting out. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have gotten its tongue over the bit in running. Raced wide for the majority. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to its off hind leg consistent with being galloped on in running.

KAMARCHER - Bumped with another runner on jumping. On returning to scale Jockey J Stanley advised he did not intend to settle so far forward but after obtaining a forward position with little effort his mount resented his efforts to restrain it and it commenced to race keenly from that point. Stewards noted the explanation.

DIVINE JAZZ - Began awkwardly. Restrained off heels passing the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5. BURDEKIN VETERINARY SERVICES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m

BOONA BOY - Connections advised it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden positively in the early stages in an effort to obtain a forward position with cover. After beginning only fairly was ridden vigorously in an effort to improve its position but was unable to muster the necessary speed and consequently settled in a rearward position before finishing off fairly.

POLHAMPTON - Began awkwardly. When attempting to improve into a marginal run passing the 200m was tightened for racing room, Jockey L Morrison consequently lost her near side iron placing her at a disadvantage from that point on.

TEMPO - Approaching the 1000m, whilst racing ungenerously, shifted out inconveniencing another runner. Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages and was restrained off heels passing the 800m. Held up for clear running in the home straight until a point near the 100m when obliged to shift wider before finishing off well.

SPLENDARAMA - Inconvenienced passing the 1000m. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first such occurrence Trainer E Sewell was advised that, under the provisions of AR79, the mare would now incur a three month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

WICKED DANCER - Inconvenienced passing the 200m by runners which shifted out. Became awkward on heels approaching the winning post.

VIKING CLAP - Raced wide for the majority.

SUPPOSEDLY WICKED - Shifted out under riding passing the 200m hampering runners to its outside. Jockey D Smith was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.

FINAL WARNING - Passing the 200 was obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of another runner and consequently inconvenienced runners to its outside.

Race 6. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400m

TOUCH OF BALI - Connections advised it would be the intention have the gelding settle in a forward position, preferably not leading. After beginning reasonably well from the wide barrier was unable to muster the speed to assume a forward position and settled in a midfield position with cover. Inclined to race keenly for the majority. Hampered by another runner passing the 900m. Raced wide for the majority.

LIGHT FIELD - Inclined to race keenly when the pace slowed passing the 1000m.

JAMOCHA - Restrained off heels passing the 900m when the pace slowed and shifted out hampering another runner.

RAISE DA VIBRATION - Restrained off heels approaching the 900m when the pace slowed.

NORAH - Raced wide for the majority.

BRAVIO - Inclined to over-race passing the 900m when the pace slowed.

DEADLY DIVA - Restrained off heels approaching the 900m when the pace slowed. Had to be severely checked near the 100m when disappointed for a marginal run.

DALBERGIA - Stood flat footed as the start was effected. Trainer S Royes was advised the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Shifted wider from the 800m when the pace slowed. Jockey A Thomson was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR211(1) after weighing in overweight.

MISS FUBULICIOUS – Jockey M Abe was cautioned under the provisions of AR131(d) in relation to slowing the pace in a race. Jockey Abe was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR211(1) after weighing in overweight.
