Stewards inquired into a protracted incident which took place  between the 200m and the 100m. After hearing evidence from riders and viewing patrol footage it was established that BABY GUINNESS (D Smith), which was racing greenly, shifted out noticeably passing the 200m inconveniencing DOMINANT ROSE which was also racing greenly and, as reported by App A Jones was reluctant to go forward. BOGAN PRINCESS (L McCoy) which was racing to the outside of DOMINANT ROSE  was also slightly inconvenienced. Soon after Jockey Smith dropped his nearside rein resulting in a significant shift back in from BABY GUINNESS, with DOMINANT ROSE once again having to be restrained, and  both MISSA STITCH (N Yadi) and MISS BOUCHARD (G Kilese) being taken inwards. MR WHITTINGTON (R McMahon) after being disappointed for a run between those 2 runners, attempted to shift in around the heels of MISS BOUCHARD. A continued inwards shift from MISS BOUCHARD resulted in tightening to what was already a marginal run for MR WHITTINGTON, and in that gelding shifting in and away onto the running of SOUL SEARCHER (S Wilson). Those 2 runners were both severely checked. In considering the matter Stewards were mindful that there was a number of mitigating factors and that this was a field of inexperienced 2 year old horses. Nonetheless, Jockeys D Smith and R McMahon were both severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
