GENERAL
 
The following overweight was permitted by Stewards:
Race 6. S. Sheargold (Captivated) +1kg
 
The following horses, which all raced at Townsville on Thursday 14th April 2022, underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and were cleared to start.
Laterally, Willygood, Queen of Manhattan, Mufasta and Catmosphere.

Race 1. BECOME A MEMBER AT CLUDEN PARK MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
DIVINE WIT – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the track after the gelding was fractious during transit to the course and again on arrival at the barriers, and was cleared to start.
 
THAT'S A DREAM – Delayed the start when reluctant to proceed to the barriers and was fractious behind the barriers. Trainer B. Williams was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. 
 
TALK CRAZY – Slow to begin.
 
FIFTYSHADESFASTER – Slow to begin.

TEVERINA – Slow to begin.
 
HEISWOODY – Began awkwardly. Tightened for room near 500 metres, shifted in making contact with running rail and having to be checked. Tired over the concluding stages. Rider S. Tomlinson reported the gelding laid out for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LATERALLY – Shifted out at the start bumping UGLY DUCKLING.

UGLY DUCKLING – Shifted in at the start bumping LATERALLY. 
 
CROSSFIRE ROAD – Steadied near the 1000 metres when crossed by another runner. Raced greenly and shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FESSUP – Shifted out near the 400 metres to avoid the heels of a tiring runner and in doing so tightened the running of TOSCAVALE ROAD which had to be restrained. Rider S. Sheargold was advised to show greater care.
 
TOSCAVALE ROAD – Restrained near the 400 metres when tightened for room.
 
RIVERSIDE BLUES – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race.

SUNNY EKCELS – Jockey C. Spry pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he allowed SUNNY EKCLES to shift in near the 500 metres, tightening the running of HEISWOODY which shifted in making contact with running rail and having to be checked. Jockey Spry’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 19th April 2022 up to and including 26th April 2022. In considering penalty stewards took into account jockey Spry’s recent good record and guilty plea. Jockey Spry was advised of his right to a review in regards to this rule breach. 

Race 2. HYGAIN OPEN HANDICAP 1400m
 
WILLYGOOD – Tightened for room between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
TENNESSEE BOY – Over-raced in the early stages and as a result was allowed to stride forward leaving the 900 metres. Continued to over-race for some distance.
 
SO YOU DREAM – Over-raced in the early stages when the pace slackened.
 
NARDA SHAR – Shifted out abruptly under pressure in the home straight. Rider L. Morrison advised stewards the gelding laid out for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BUXTON – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Attempted to savage WILLYGOOD passing the winning post. Rider L. McCoy requested to view the official race footage in the home straight to determine if she had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner WILLYGOOD. After viewing the available footage she did not wish to proceed. Trainer S. Hoffman was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners and further that a repetition of that behaviour may result in the horse’s nomination being refused.   
 
Race 3. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609m
 
BERING SEA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and shifted in near the 1300 metres bumping POTAWATOMI. Jockey F. Edwards was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip in running.
 
POTAWATOMI – Bumped near the 1300 metres. Brushed by another runner near the 100 metres. Rider W. D’Avila requested to view the official race footage in the home straight to determine if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner QUEEN OF MANHATTEN. After viewing the available footage he did not wish to proceed.
 
SALSA DREAMING – Shifted wider leaving the 700 metres to improve.
 
QUEEN OF MANHATTAN– Shifted out under pressure brushing POTAWATOMI near the 100 metres. Rider B. Thomson was advised to stop riding and straighten her mounts when shifting ground in similar circumstances. 
 
CONQUERING JUDAS – Performed below market expectations. Shifted in of its own accord near the 1250 metres making heaving contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Rider App T. Fenlon explained the gelding raced keenly in the early stages and failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure leaving the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G. Hughes advised stewards he would monitor the horse’s progress over the next few days before making a decision on its current preparation and would advise stewards.   
 
Race 4. BFQ ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 6 PLATE 1000m
 
EMPIRE GAMES – Slow into stride.
 
Race 5. MITAVITE QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1200m
 
YARRALINDA – Shifted inwards on jumping.  Commenced to over-race after being crossed by another runner near the 800 metres.
 
GINGER MULE – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages throwing its head in the air on a number of occasions. Restrained off heels near the 650 metres.
 
DESTROY THE STAR – Shifted outwards on jumping.
 
LORD OF LIGHT – Inconvenienced soon after the start and lost ground. Restrained off heels near the 700 metres.
 
VIENNA CRUISE – Raced ungenerously near the 800 metres and continued to do so for a considerable distance.
 
Race 6. TAB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m
 
EROE – Slow to begin.  
 
PONDEROSO – Began awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after the start bumping HALLSIDE HOT STUFF.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
TINY TIARA – Raced ungenerously for some distance passing the 900 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
KEFALONIA – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
UP THE RIVER – Restrained off heels near the 400 metres.
 
RUN RAMPANT – Put in an awkward stride near the 200 metres and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ZABERFELDIE (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the race.    
 
FINAL WARNING – Lost its front off plate during running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
