GENERAL
The thoroughbreds SACRED LEGACY (NZ), COURTING SARA and RIVERINA DEMAND which were resuming after a lengthy absence from competition underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and were passed fit to start.

Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1150m in which Ginasue (M. Murphy) had to be restrained. After hearing evidence from Jockey M. Murphy, Jockey B. Thomson (Blondie’s Secret) and Jockey C. Spry (Spurcific Journey) it was established that at that point, when improving forward Blondie’s Secret had shifted in, taking Spurcific Journey in, resulting in tightening to the running of Ginasue. Jockey B. Thomson was advised to exercise more care in similar situations.
Secret Quality – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing a runner to its outside.
Cody's Boy – After the gelding proved difficult to load. Trainer F. Wieland was advised that it would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to start in a race again. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
Spurcific Journey – Began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly soon after the start.
Dovi's Day – Slow into stride, inconvenienced on jumping.
Desert Chatterbox – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Cosmic Starlet – Hesitated as the start was effected and was very slow to begin. Unable to muster pace in the early and middle stages. Trainer M. Whitehouse was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
Whitty's Dream – Had to be restrained when reluctant to improve into a marginal run at the 200m. Shifted out across heels soon after.
Race 2: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
Fessup – Over raced in the early stages. Inconvenienced at the 100m.
Tycoon Illusion – Began awkwardly, inclined to race greenly in the home straight.
Burne Jones – Slow to begin, raced wide for the majority.
Gulf Of Aqaba – Inconvenienced on jumping.
Air Lifted – Shifted out on jumping.
Shez The Wolf – Jockey L. Tilley reported that the mare felt uncomfortable during the race. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed soreness in the nearside pectoral. Subsequently the mare will be stood down from racing until a veterinary certificate of fitness is obtained.
Don't Doubt Hinchi – Slow to begin. Bumped on the hind quarters at the start. Proved difficult to ride out and became unbalanced in the home straight. Jockey P. Romeo reported that his mount hung in for the entirety of the race.
Lumerai – Slow to begin. Jumped in at the start. Shifted out at the 100m inconveniencing another runner. Commenced to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Mishani Patriot – Presented to race without blinkers, Trainer T. Simmons was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106(1).
Nanna Bax – Slow to begin.
Queen Lilibet – Slow to begin.
Gypsy King – Slow into stride. App. I. Teh advised that after the gelding was slow to begin it was reluctant to improve, drifting further back than anticipated. Commenced to race ungenerously in the middle stages. Shifted wider near the 300m and finished off the race fairly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Stewards advised App. I. Teh that she will be expected to show more urgency if she finds herself in a similar position in the early stages of a race.
Race 3: CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
Tawhiri – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Johnny Thunder – The gelding lost its off fore plate in running.
Dusky Damsel – Restrained when commenced to over race in the middle stages.
Miss Seattle – Shifted out near the 250m inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Jockey A. Butler was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.
Divine Wit – Began very awkwardly. Made heavy contact with and inconvenienced another runner shortly after the start.
Listen Listen – Buffeted between runners soon after jumping. Over raced in the middle stages.
Frazzled – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly and being inconvenienced. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Viking Clap – Inconvenienced near the 250m by another runner which shifted out.
Race 4: BROWN BROTHERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
Coco Cuber – Raced wide for the majority.
Shepherd Of Fire – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Anniemariah – Slow to begin, inconvenienced soon after jumping.
Giordano – Momentarily held up for clear running on straightening.
Getiton – Slow to begin, shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing another runner to its inside. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Supreme Prince – Jockey B. Thomson advised that the gelding had raced ungenerously for the majority, and in her opinion had overreacted to being restrained when awkwardly placed in restricted room on a number of occasions in running.
Dawn Strike – Slow to begin.
Ginger Mule – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
Combattant De Rue – Began awkwardly, raced wide for the majority.
Race 5: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1609 metres
Springthorpe – Tightened between runners shortly after jumping.
Ask Me Tomorrow – Over raced in the early stages.
Salsa Dreaming – Raced wide through the early and middle stages.
Hallside Hot Stuff – Raced wide for the majority.
Voodoo Miss – Restrained off heels near the 1500m.
Race 6: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
Zeppelin - Inconvenienced soon after the start.
Diamonds'n'stones - Inconvenienced soon after the start.
Boom Gate - Inconvenienced soon after the start.
Mason's Chance – Shifted out soon after jumping, tightening runners to the outside. Shifted wider to obtain clear running near the 200m.
Wise Dragon – Momentarily help up rounding the home turn.
Conquering Judas – Slow to begin.
Scent Of Fear – Shifted in abruptly on jumping, tightening runners to the inside.
Stratobel – Inconvenienced soon after the start.
Assets – Raced very ungenerously in the early to middle stages, shifting wider near the 1000m and raced wide from that point.
Race 7: TRAVEL ASSOCIATES OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
Dio D'oro – App. C. Collis accidentally dropped his whip near the 150m.
Simply Splashing - Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
Raiden - Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
Funky Music – Shifted out rounding the home turn inconveniencing a runner to its outside.
Dalon – Shifted out under pressure passing the 100m, taking So You Dream (M. Murphy) wider.
Hell Of A Boy – Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly. Shifted out marginally on the home turn, taking Funky Music (G. Kliese) wider which in turn hampered Micawber (C. Whiteley).
Micawber – Inconvenienced by another runner rounding the home turn.
Race 8: HAMILTON ISLAND Class 6 Plate 1000 metres
Ashton Blair - Raced wide through the early and middle stages.
Dawn Too Good – Jockey B. Pengelly who was to be overweight was replaced by M. Murphy as the rider of the gelding. Jockey B. Pengelly was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). Jockey M. Murphy accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.
Focus – Raced wide through the early and middle stages.
Go Deep – Jockey A. Butler who was to be overweight was replaced by N. Day as the rider of the gelding. Jockey A. Butler was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). Slow to begin.
Toy Boy - Raced wide through the early and middle stages.
Lifetime Quest – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the off foreleg. Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3:19pm. As on-course betting had not yet commenced on the event no deductions were applicable.
Race 9: MITAVITE Class 2 Handicap 1000 metres
Coolmeans (NZ) – Slow to begin. Bumped with another runner shortly after jumping. Trailed the field throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Cochrane – Raced very ungenerously in the early stages and approaching the home turn. When questioned by Stewards in relation to his riding in the early part of the home straight, Jockey B. Pengelly stated that he had been instructed to save the gelding for one final sprint as the horse tends to switch off if he finds the front too early. These instructions were confirmed by Trainer J. Manzelmann.

Explosive Girl – Bumped with another runner shortly after jumping.
