GENERAL
Race 1: BECOME A MEMBER TODAY @ CLUDEN PARK Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
Port Jackson - Slow to begin and hung in and struck the running rail when racing ungenerously at the 250 metres.
 
Hypothesize – Overraced and shifted out off heels at the 900 metres forcing Windpipe threewide.
 
Head Bee – Dislodged an offside hind plate in running.
 
Calsandria – Permission was granted for the filly to race without the nominated gear – (nasal strip) which could not be attached due to the humid conditions. Raced four- wide without cover for the event.
 
Windpipe – Hampered and forced three-wide at the 900 metres then raced three wide without cover for the remainder.
 
Donenothing – Held up at the 250 metres and eased to the outside across heels to obtain clear running.
 
 
 
 
Race 2: MITAVITE Class 6 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Mystery 'N' Magic - Commenced to overrace between the 1200 metres and 1000 metres.
 
Style Seeker (NZ) - Jockey N Thomas was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding. He advised that Style Seeker (NZ) had travelled well until the 650 metres however was immediately under pressure on straightening and failed to run on. He advised that whilst the gelding was well up in class in today’s event, Style Seeker (NZ)  had in his opinion performed disappointingly. Trainer S Massingham confirmed the gelding would be sent for a spell.
 
Kefalonia – Checked at the start.
 
Mcnair (NZ) – Steadied off heels making the home turn and blocked momentarily for clear running at the 250 metres.
 
Light Field – Was re-saddled behind the barriers.
 
Dawn Strike - On jumping was bumped by NcNair and shifted in checking Kefalonia.
 
 
Race 3: BROWN BROTHERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
Conquered Journey – Jumped in at the start and collided with Blondie's Secret. Over-racing at the 1000 metres.
 
Harlow Queen – Hampered at the 1000 metres when steadied off the heels of Conquered Journey which was over-racing. Had to be steadied at the 100 metres when Getonthedragon shifted in.

Blondie's Secret – Bumped another runner on jumping. Raced ungenerously at the
1000 metres when the pace steadied.
 
Runaway Kiss – JockeyJ Murphy was questioned regarding the riding tactics he adopted on the gelding in the straight. He advised that Runaway Kiss was ridden back in the field from the wide barrier as is its normal racing pattern and was having it’s first start over 1200 metres. He advised that on straightening Runaway Kiss when initially racing behind other runners had not wanted to improve when asked for an effort. He stated that he eased Runaway Kiss to the outside to obtain clear running from the 250 metres and that the filly had then stretched out and finished extremely well over the final 150 metres. The explanation was noted.
 
Verdansk - On jumping was bumped byGetonthedragon. Raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
 
Getonthedragon – Difficult to load.Collided with another runner at the start.Steadied between the 1000 meters and 900 metres when the gelding commenced to race fiercely due to the slow pace. Shifted in under pressure at the 100 metres.
 
 
 
Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
Sylvester – Held up and unable to improve until the 350 metres and hampered by the tiring
Lily Ofthe Glen between the 200 metres and 100 metres.
 
Mischief Managed - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Ashton Blair- Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Lily Ofthe Glen - The start was delayed when Lily Ofthe Glen broke through the gates after being loaded, travelling a short distance and as a result the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Brushed another runner when tiring between the 200 metres and 100 metres. Trainer R. Miller advised Stewards post-race that the mare had pulled up with soreness in the near foreleg. He was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before Lily Ofthe Glen again races.
 
Vaporizing - Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Count Of Carford –Reared as the barriers opened losing ground. Held up and unable to improve until the 150 metres.
 
Macedon Flyer - At the 900 metres was steadied off the heels of Phantom Spirit and shifted out abruptly checking Winning Saga, Cheyenne Beach and Inner Spirit.
 
Inner Spirit – Checked at the 900 metres when another runner shifted out. Raced wide with cover thereafter.
 
Strathcona - Raced three - wide without cover for the race.
 
Bilbao – Late Scratching 12.42 p.m. on Veterinary Advice. Trainer S Seymour was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to Bilbao starting again.
 
Bones – Raced three- wide with cover until the 400 metres.
 
Winning Saga - Checked at the 900 metres when another runner shifted out.
 
Le Rubis – Raced four- wide without cover for the entire race.
 
Cheyenne Beach - Checked at the 900 metres when another runner shifted out.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 6: CLUDEN PARK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Bravio - Raced three- wide with cover for most of the race.
 
Coco Cuber - Over-raced in the early and middle stages.Held up and momentarily unable to improve at the 200 metres.Cast a near side front plate in running.
 
Bil Colyns - Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
Enuff Gold – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and brushed another runner.
 
Foreverede – Raced three- wide without cover for much of the race. Cast a near side front plate at the 200 metres.
 
Swahili Mai – Approaching the 1100 metres Swahili Mai which was racing in a three wide position shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider and checked Right Bower.
Swahili Mai raced ungenerously for the majority of the event. A final warning was issued to connections regarding the mares racing manners. Hampered by another running shift out at the 100 metres
 
Right Bower- Checked at the 1100 metres when another runner shifted in abruptly.
 
 
Race 7: NEXT RACE MEETING THURSDAY 9 MARCH Class 3 Plate1200 metres
 
Newitt -Jumped inwards at the start hampering Stifling and Dark Rebel. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Peter The Piper – Raced wide until the 500 metres.
 
Smarty Lee – Raced ungenerously throughout and hung out over the concluding stages resulting in Jockey A Spinks being unable to fully test his mount.
 
Whispering Tycoon – Held up and unable to improve at the 400 metres. Shifted out at the 250 metres checking Newitt which then was taken out onto Polhampton which had to be steadied consequently. Simultaneously, Castile bumped Cat In The Raine, resulting in Castile shifted in compounding the tightening to Newitt and Polhampton. Jockey F Edwards (Whispering Tycoon) was advised to exercise caution when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
Allanon – Raced ungenerously when steadied to obtain cover at the 1000 metres.
 
Castile – Bumped another runnerseveral occasions over the final 400 metres.Hampered at the 200 metres when another runner shifted ground.
 
Dark Rebel –Checked at the start.
 
Polhampton- Had to be resaddled behind the barriers which delayed the start. Checked at the 250 metres.
 
Stifling –Hampered at start.
 
Cat In The Raine - Raced wide throughout with cover. Bumped Castile on several occasions over the final 400 metres resulting in both horses momentarily becoming unbalanced.
