GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: 2YO CLASSIC 10TH JUNE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
The Wallet - Over-raced throughout. Passing the 400 metres had to be restrained when the gelding was over racing  
 
Jazz Worthy - On entering the home straight commenced to layout. Passing the 300 metres was held up for clear running.
 
Vader Bang Yahoo - Apprentice J.Doolan was reprimanded for claiming only 1.5 kg of her 2kg allowance.  Vader Bang Yahoo jumped awkwardly and lost significant ground. Over raced in the early to middle stages.
 
Bringyaticket - Over-raced early.
 
Decrypting Gold - Raced wide throughout. Was found to have blood in the off-side nostril following the race and a Veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the head indicating signs of trauma.
 
Kai Come – Buffeted by runners on either side on jumping. Approaching 800 metres had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of Bringyaticket.  
Jockey N.Thomas stated that after being hampered on jumping away, Kai Come was forced to settle further back than anticipated resulting in his mount over-racing.
Approaching the 200 metres was obliged to steady after The Wallet shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey S.Wilson, rider of The Wallet  pleaded guilty to careless riding AR 131 (a) for allowing his mount to shift out approaching the 100 metres causing Kai Come to be checked and taken out onto Gabby’s Ready.  Jockey Wilson’s license was suspended for 8 days commencing midnight 3 June 23 to expire midnight 11 June 23.
 
Gabby's Ready – A post-race Veterinary examination  revealed the gelding sustained a small cut to the off hind leg. Raced wide throughout. Hampered and carried wide passing the 200m.
 
Jazz Worthy - Was held for clear running after entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.
 
Cyber Jam – A late riding change was approved - Apprentice R. Wilson  replaced Apprentice  Krysten Swaffer who was delayed on route to the track. Began awkwardly then shifted in abruptly and lost ground.
 
Give It The Beans - Jumped awkwardly shifting out and contacting Kai Come. Passing the 800 meters Give It The Beans was severely hampered when Kai Come which was over racing shifted in marginally. As a consequence, Give It The Beans which was racing on the rails become awkward in stride losing ground at that point.
 
 
Race 2: 2 BROWN BROTHERS Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
The start of the race was delayed approximately 3 minutes owing to a barrier attendant being kicked and requiring treatment from Queensland Ambulance attendants. The barrier attendant was later transported to Hospital for further observations.
 
Coolmeans (NZ) - Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Nantucket - Over-raced in early stages.
 
Stronach – Onpassing the 50 metres commenced to shift in and away from Winning Saga which also laid in under pressure at that point.
 
Witsabouthim(NZ) - Laid out in the home turn.

Perfect Quality - Delayed the start when being difficult to load. A barrier attendant was kicked when attempting to load the gelding. Trainer G. Hughes was advised that a barrier certificate will be required before the gelding races again. Jumped awkwardly. Laid out in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Hot Dancing - Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.
 
Winning Saga jumped awkwardly contacting the inside barrier partition. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Correct weight was delayed whilst jockey C Whiteley, rider of Perfect Quality, attended the stewards control room to view the race footage to consider lodging an objection and after declining to do so, correct weight was declared on the judges’ numbers.
 
 
Retrospective upgrade of track to Good (4)
 
 
Race 3: STATE OF ORIGIN AT CLUDEN PARK Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
Dawn Strike jumped awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
 
Imposing Beau over-raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 500 metres Imposing Beau had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of Armour Force, then shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of runners ahead. Imposing Beau was steadied and shifted back in at the 450 metres hampering Rugged Boy.
 
Jockey Edwards (Imposing Beau)pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner over the final 400 meters. His licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence  midnight 3 June 2023 and to expire at midnight on10 June 2023.   
 
Rugged Roy - Passing 500m had to be checked to avoid the heels of Imposing Boy which shifted in whilst over-racing.
 
Sacred Legacy (NZ) – Held up for clear running until the 250 metres .When questioned by stewards, Jockey Chris Whiteley reported that Sacred Legacy (NZ)  had wanted to hang inwards over last 300m and then was placed in restricted room  to the inside of  Jockey Frank Edwards on Imposing Beau which also was hanging in. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
Petrillo (NZ) - Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching 800 metres when over racing .
 
Shadow Eclipse- Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Emathion – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Frankaz (GB) - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Myzah - Jumped awkwardly and then was over racing in the early and middle stages.
 
Amber Rock - Jockey David Sparks was fined $300 for use of the whip prior to the 100m AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip 7 times which is 2 times more than is permitted.
 
Noise Works - Became awkward when placed on heels approaching 800m.
 
Pretty As - Was held up for clear running when entering the home straight and passing the 200m was obliged to shift wider to improve. Jockey R.Wiggins was fine $200 for weighing in excess of 0.5kg over his allocated riding weight. AR 211 (1).
 
Yankee Blossom - Approaching the 100m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of Emathion which rolled in when under pressure. Jockey S.Wilson rider of Emathion was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in the future.
 
 
Race 5: HYGAIN OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
Palencia – Slow into strideand raced three wide throughout. Palencia was inspected by the Club veterinary Surgeon who reported no abnormalities.Jockey G Kliese confirmed the gelding was in his opinion disappointing .
 
Tennessee Boy - Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
Zouvilla - Jumped awkwardly hampering Night Guy. Held up for clear running upon entering home straight and at the 300 metres shifted wider to improve. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Hell Of A Boy – At the 50 metres had to be restrained to avoid the heels of Zouvilla which shifted in when insufficiently clear and as a result was unable to fully tested to the line.
Jockey A.Layt , the rider of Zouvilla pleaded guilty to a charge of Careless Riding - AR 131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of Hell Of A Boy  and was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence a midnight on 8 June 2023 and will expire at midnight on 15 June 2023. In determining penalty stewards took into consideration Jockey Layt guilty plea and exemplary record.
 
Mystery 'N' Magic - Slow into stride.
 
Ciao Bicky - Raced in restricted room to the inside of Hell of a Boy over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
Night Guy – Hampered by another runner on jumping.
 
Race 6: CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1609 metres
 
Legend Has It - Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance Jockey R. Wiggins could offer no explanation for same.
A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Massingham was advised not to start Legend Has It until he could ensure the gelding would be competitive. He was also advised to report anything that may be identified in the coming days to explain the poor performance.
 
Razment - At the 300 metres Razment which was held up for clear running , improved onto the heels of the tiring Vienna Rain and was obliged to shift sharply inwards to avoid same.
 
Vienna Rain - Raced wide in the early stages before it was able to obtain cover passing the 1000 metres.
 
Undoubted - Was inspected post-race by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and no abnormalities were found. Jockey Sheargold stated his mount was disappointing and believed the gelding would be better suited over further distance.
 
Bravio - Slow to begin. Was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon post-race and found to have bruising to the off side eye.
 
 
Race 7: MITAVITE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
Pomade - Jumped awkwardly.  When over racing at the 650 metres, Pomade improved to the inside of Mission Estate and had to be steadied. Continued to over-race until the home turn.
 
Mr Kobo- Jumped awkwardly and commenced to lose ground from the 900m before being retired from the event in the home straight.
When questioned Jockey A. Layt was of the opinion in the race that the gelding had suffered an injury as the gelding would not stretch out and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed nil abnormalities. Stewards have advised Trainer J Russo that Mr Kobo will be required to undergo a barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
Whitty's Dream - Was steadied off heels at the 600 metres and again at the 300 metres when attempting to obtain clear running. Approaching the 100m was disappointed for a run.
 
 
Race 8: 8 FEED 2 GO BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Bakuhatsu - Raced wide for majority.
 
Missile Thunder raced wide for majority.  Apprentice J Doolan was questioned regarding the riding tactics she adopted on the gelding in particular riding forward from a wide alley when the gelding’s normal racing pattern is to be ridden with a sit off the pace. Apprentice J Doolan  explained that she was aware the that the gelding was having its first race start since an 11-month spell and that Missile Thunder had underwent a knee operation in that time.Apprentice J Doolan advised that Trainer R Chillemi had instructed her to ride forward in the event given that Missile Thunder was expected to sprint well when fresh.  Stewards will question Mr Chillemi at a time and date to be fixed in relation to the change in riding tactics and specifically why he failed to officially notify Stewards regarding the knee operation to the horse Missile Thunder.
 
Shepherd Of Fire - The start was delayed when the gelding underwent a veterinary examination which revealed the gelding  to be lame in the near and offside front leg. Shepherd Of Fire was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 3.56 p.m. All monies invested on Shepherd Of Firewere ordered to be refunded.
 
Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior the late scratching of Shepherd Of Fire :
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win – Sancy Rose
4 cents in the dollar for the place of winner – Sansy Rose
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - Bones

 A Veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to Shepherd Of Fire starting again.
 
Bones jumped awkwardly and collided with Never Cry.

Starfilly was scratched at 1:07 p.m. acting on Veterinary advice. A Veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to Starfilly starting again.
 
Cetshwayo -  Held up over the concluding stages and then hung out when struck with the whip approaching the finishing line.
 
Haralben - Raced wide for majority.
 
 
 
Race 9: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Air Blue – Was galloped on in running and was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon post-race and no abnormalities were found.
 
Heiswoody - Apprentice R Wilson reported that her mount failed to travel comfortably at any stage and was extremely disappointing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The horse will require a trial prior to starting again and trainer T. McGovern will be required to provide a Veterinary clearance prior to starting. Apprentice Wilson was reprimanded for using the whip on two occasions in the early stages of the straight when the horse was out of contention. AR132 (5)
 
Medal (NZ) - Making the home turn was steadied off the heels of Air Blue. Was again steadied passing the 100m when tightened for room between Dominique and Gulf of Lion which both of which shifted ground.
 
Cooper Gem -  Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Harmonic Boom - Jumped awkwardly. Hung out making the home turn and raced ungenerously for some distance.
 
Campione - Raced wide.
 
Sebrossa - Slow into stride and tailed out of the concluding stages and was inspected by the Veterinary. Raced wide.
 
Gulf Of Lion - Over raced in the early and middle stages.
