GENERAL

1.    NOBLE ATTACK was declared a late scratching at 7:55am due to no available rider.
2.    A veterinary clearance was provided for STORE BEACH from Trainer Les Gordy.
3.    Stewards accepted the following overweight:
Race 2. Sean Cormack (CHOIR BOY) – +1.0kg
 
Race 1: CLIPSAL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400M

MAJOR ARTIE – Stewards noted apprentice rider Leah Martyn exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+1) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken.
 
SAVVY SOVEREIGN (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
TAMBO'S JUSTICE – Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
JOE'S GIGGLE – Shifted wider to improve passing the 600 metres and raced wide thereafter.
 
SET THE SAILS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
READ 'EM AND WEEP – Raced keenly in the preliminary stages.
 
ARGUABLE – Began only fairly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 2: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE OPEN Handicap 1400M

GO GETABOY – ContactedCHOIR BOY passing the 200 metres after bumping with STATS.
 
CONVENER (FR) – Shifted wider to improve passing the 600 metres and raced wide thereafter.
 
STATS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight before shifting to the outside of GO GETABOY passing the 250 metres. Approaching the 200 metres, shifted in and bumped with GO GETABOY on two occasions, which became unbalanced and then preceded to shift in and contact the hindquarters of CHOIR BOY.
 
CHOIR BOY – Taken inwards by GO GETABOY passing the 200 metres after being contacted.
 
BEAU RAIN – Over-raced in the initial stages.
 
JOHN JOSEPH – Rider Jackson Murphy was harmlessly dislodged at the barriers and JOHN JOSEPH was immediately restrained, with neither rider nor horse sustaining any injury. Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping away. Had to be steadied approaching the 100 metres when CHOIR BOY was taken in.
 
Race 3: IPD MAIDEN Plate 1300M

RICH FLEX – Raced keenly in the initial stages.
 
BOMBINATE – Began very awkwardly and contacted the side of the barriers on jumping away. Bumped with MARCH MADNESS passing the 1200 metres.
 
MARCH MADNESS – Bumped with BOMBINATE passing the 1200 metres. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
URIS – Proved difficult to load. Attempted to buck shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer Alex Maliff was advised URIS must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Shifted wider to improve passing the 600 metres and raced wide thereafter.
 
LIVEWIRE LASS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 4: COMMSCOPE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000M

CHARTWELL – Bumped with HARTSHORN on jumping. Momentarily held up when attempting a run between HARTSHORN and BELLA ACE approaching the 150 metres.
 
FAST AS STEEL – Slow to begin.
 
HARTSHORN – Shifted in at the start bumping with CHARTWELL. Buffeted for a short distance shortly after the start.
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Raced wide throughout.
 
CELEBRATION – Shifted in at the start bumping with HARTSHORN.
 
SAVVY THINKER – Slow into stride.
 
INJADA – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 5: OLEX BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200M

TYMON – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before shifting wider approaching the 300 metres to obtain clear racing room.
 
SUPER FAST – Began awkwardly.
 
SUBSTANCE – Proved difficult to load delaying the start. Trainer Bodene Bailey was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.
 
AL RAS BLUES – Held up momentarily passing the 250 metres and had to be steadied away from heels at that point. Was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
 
THE SHERPA – Raced four-wide throughout.
 
CHIROGRAPHY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running for the majority of the final straight and was unable to be fully tested by rider Nathan Thomas.
 
FINANCE PARTNER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
LASER BEAM – Raced wide throughout.
 
STORE BEACH – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping away. Held up for a short distance passing the 150 metres before shifting to the outside of READY TO PARDON to gain clear running.
 
GRINZINGER BURG (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
REDAVNI – Raced keenly in the initial stages.
 
HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with TYMON. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI AVIATOR – Bounded in the air on jumping. Raced keenly in the initial stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Race 6: LAWRENCE & HANSON QTIS 2YO CLASSIC 1200M

Trainer Joshua Manzelmann was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 194 for presenting his runners late into the mounting yard delaying the start.
 
SARAQAEL – Held up on entering the home straight before shifting across the heels of GOLD CLASSIC passing the 200 metres to gain clear running.
 
NOSEY NEO – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
BANG STICK – Shifted in shortly after the start causing BLUISH HUE to be buffeted.
 
CAROHVIC – Raced keenly in the initial stages.
 
NEV – Shifted out on jumping bumping with BLUISH HUE, resulting in that running being buffeted for a short distance. Raced ungenerously through the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the final corner.
 
SECRET CYPHER – Proved difficult to load. Slow into stride. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
BLUISH HUE – Bumped on jumping by NEV which shifted out. Shortly after, was buffeted between NEV and BANG STICK which shifted in shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 950 metres, improved onto the heels of SHEEZA ALIBI and had to be steadied.
 
DRAGON TALES – Tightened for room passing the 200 metres when FABULEAN hung in.
 
GOLD CLASSIC – Tightened for room passing the 200 metres when FABULEAN hung in.
 
FABULEAN – Despite the efforts of rider Olivia Kendal, FABULEAN commenced to hang in abruptly passing the 200 metres tightening GOLD CLASSIC and DRAGON TALES. Trainer Jennifer Hatfield will be advised that a warning would be placed on the fillies racing manners.
 
SHEZA ALIBI – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before obtaining a run approaching the 200 metres to the inside of DRAGON TALES.
