1.    MCKINLAY RACE CLUB  – Saturday 21st June 2025
Race 5: 2025 Outback Racing Showcase - Final / South32 Mckinlay Cup Open Handicap 1500m
 
The matter concerning rider Micheal McDonald's use of the whip was further adjourned as he was unable to attend today’s meeting, having been in transit following his engagement at the Eagle Farm meeting on 28 June 2025.
 
2.    Saturday 28/06/2025 – Race 7 - 4:45PM ELENNA'S FIGHT BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1180 METRES)
Trainer Nathan Coves advised Stewards of the presence of blood in one nostril of THUNDER MOON on return to his stables. THUNDER MOON shall before racing again be required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a steward under the provisions of AR 79(8). Trainer Coves advised Stewards that it would be his intention to retire the gelding.
 
 
GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight’s:

R4 – Justin Stanley (BRIGHT DAISY) +1kg

Race 1: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN Plate 1000M

CLASSICISM - Shifted across heels passing the 300 metres to gain clear running. Raced greenly throughout the final straight.
 
DRAGON TALES – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
MISTER TIA – Bumped by VEGAMEISTER on jumping. Rider Wanderson D’Avila dropped his whip passing the 50 metres.
 
RED CITY SUN – Raced greenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
TIMINCA – Raced wide throughout.
 
VEGAMEISTER – Began awkwardly and bumped with MISTER TIA, losing ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
REDNA – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ROYAL PROHPECY – Slow to begin from a wide barrier.
 
THE PALACE – Hung out throughout. Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
SUPID DATE – Trainer Joshua Manzelmann advised the Stewards that it was his intention to have the filly ridden in a more forward position circumstances permitting; ridden accordingly.  Raced greenly over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the winner STUPID DATE, Trainer Joshua Manzelmann stated the filly had been working well in its trackwork and had benefitted from a change of tactics today.

Race 2: MITVITE MAIDEN Handicap 1200M

BIG DEMEANOUR – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
GOODNIGHT ROMEO – Raced wide throughout.
 
IRISH GIFT – Underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed fit to race after Trainer Nathan Coves reported the gelding had been fractious when being transported to the meeting.
 
BINGHAMPTON – Jumped in abruptly at the start bumping with KOBIE’S LUCK.
 
IL FAGIOLO – Slow to begin.
 
LONGCROSS – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ARTHUR’S DREAM – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn up to passing the 100 metres. Momentarily improved under the heels of PARDON THE PURR passing the 250 metres.
 
KOBIE’S LUCK – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
PARDON THE PURR – Over-raced in the middle stages when leading.
 
 
Race 3: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200M

MEMPHIS SHADOW – Trainer Stephen Massingham advised the Stewards that it was his intention to have the filly ridden with cover circumstances permitting; ridden accordingly.   Jumped in at the start bumping with LEAN EAGLE. Returned to the enclosure with blood present in both nostrils. Trainer Stephen Massingham was advised MEMPHIS SHADOW shall not, without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months must not be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after firstly completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or competing in an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.
 
DEALING’S DONE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
STARHATTAN – Slow into stride from a wide barrier. Races wide with cover throughout.
 
SUPER FAST – When questioned on the performance of SUPER FAST, rider Justin Stanley stated the gelding never travelled at any stage and when placed under pressure around the final turn, failed to respond to riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
LEAN EAGLE – Bumped on jumping.
 
TYMON – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
Following the running of Race 3 the track was upgraded to a Good 4.

Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M

TRAPASSI – Hung out throughout the final straight.
 
GALBALAN – Raced four-wide throughout.
 
LADY DAMUS – Stewards noted rider R. Wiggins exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+2) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken.
 
MIDAS STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
LUCKY ROLLA – Shifted ground inward after making the crossing onto the course proper near the 700 metres, resulting in BRIGHT DAISY being tightened and checked.
Rider Chris Meehan pleaded not guilty to a charge of careless riding. However, after full consideration of all relevant evidence, Stewards found the charge proven. Jockey Meehan’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 10 days, to be served consecutively with existing suspensions. The suspension will commence at the conclusion of racing on Sunday, 13 July 2025, and will expire at the conclusion of racing on Wednesday, 24 July 2025."
 
ALBANIAN BAY – Slow into stride.
 
SAVEE – Blundered on jumping.
 
BRIGHT DAISY – Tightened and checked near the 700 metres. Rider Justin Stanley reported at scale that BRIGHT DAISY hung out throughout.
 
WHITE ARENDELLE – Raced three-wide throughout.
 

Race 5: CHRYSALIS MEDISPA BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400M

VANCOUVER BAY – Had to be steadied momentarily when crossed by READY TO PARDON passing the 1300 metres. Rider Cody Collis was firmly reminded of his obligations when crossing after shifting in when not fully clear of VANCOUVER BAY.
 
READ EM’ AND WEEP – Slow to begin.
 
SUBSTANCE – When questioned on the performance of SUBSTANCE, rider Ryan Wiggins could offer no explanation other than the gelding was disappointing.
 
LADY MASQUERADE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages
 
LOST MY NIGHTIE – Slow into stride. Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 1000 metres.
 
STORE BEACH – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 metres.
 

Race 6: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609M

MAJOR ARTIE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
JOHN JOSEPH – Disappointed for a run approaching the 200 metres.
 
OUR TURN NOW – Slow to begin from a wide barrier.
 
SAVVY SOVEREIGN – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
RELEASE LE MISSILE – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the final straight.
 
READY TIGER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before shifting to the inside of KEEP ON RUNNING passing the 200 metres.
 
MORDECAI – Slow to begin.
 
KEEP ON RUNNING – Rider Justin Stanley reported at scale that KEEP ON RUNNING over-raced throughout.
 

Race 7: BELLE PROPERTY TOWNSVILLE OPEN HANDICAP 1400M

GO GETABOY – Was crowded and obliged to steady near the 950 metres when TAMBO’S JUSTICE, which was improving forward, shifted in when not fully clear. Commenced to over-race approaching the 1,000 metres when the tempo steadied. Over-raced for some distance thereafter. .   
 
STATS – Taken in onto MOKTAFFY on jumping by EARLY THOUGHTS which shifted in. Had to be steadied for some distance approaching the 1000 metres when the tempo steadied. 
 
EARLY THOUGHTS – Shifted in on jumping taking STATS in onto MOKTAFFY which was bumped. Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced in restricted room over the final 150 metres.
 
VALENKI – Bumped with BEAU RAIN on jumping. Had to be steadied for some distance approaching the 1000 metres when the tempo steadied. 
 
TAMBO’S JUSTICE – Trainer Georgie Holt was fined $100.00 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting TAMBO’S JUSTICE with the incorrect saddle cloth number. Shifted in when improving forward near the 950 metres resulting in GO GETABOY having to steady. Apprentice Cody Collis was reprimanded under AR131a and advised to take greater care when in similar circumstances. Crowded near the 900 metres and had to steady.
 
BEAU RAIN – Bumped with VALENKI on jumping. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
MOKTAFFY – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
BRAVE AGENDA – Shifted in near the 1000 metres, crowding TAMBO’S JUSTICE for a short distance. Apprentice Gabby Semmens was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Additionally, Apprentice Semmens was firmly reminded of her obligations to maintain an even tempo throughout the race, following a reduction in pace after obtaining the lead near the 900 metres
 
 
Race 8: QUEENSLAND PLASTIC SURGERY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200M

KOBAYASTAR – Rider Olivia Kendal was harmlessly dislodged on the way to the barriers. Was unable to be tested over the final 50 metres.
 
THAT’S IT – Raced wide throughout.
 
HAND GRENADE – Began awkwardly.
 
CRIMSON DECIPHER – Bumped with SMART MISSION on jumping. Raced wide throughout. 
 
HELL OF A BENTLEY – Raced wide throughout.
 
SMART MISSION - Bumped with CRIMSON DECIPHER on jumping. Hampered near the 400 metres. An inquiry into this incident was adjourned due to the lateness of the day and travel commitments of riders involved. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
 
RAFFY’S GIRL – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Hung out over the concluding stages.
 
TRUSTING STAR – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping. Raced ungenerously for a distance passing the 1000 metres.
