GENERAL
1. Rider Denicious Smith did not attend the meeting due to illness. Mr Smith was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to him next riding.
The following were the respective rider replacements.

2. Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:

RACE 1: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
COMBAT CRUSADER – fractious in the barriers prior to the start; laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PRIVATE CURWEN – bumped at the start then attempted to buck for one stride, losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
NATIONAL GOAL – jumped out at the start and bumped with PRIVATE CURWEN; held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the final straight; buffeted for several strides passing the 150 meters, becoming unbalanced; thereafter failed to gain clear racing room through to the finish.
TINDER SWINDLER – raced wide throughout.
CALAMARIS (NZ) – rider Lacey Morrison lost the use of her near side iron leaving the 400 metres.
TWIN ISLAND (NZ) - raced wide throughout
CHARM TELLER – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
SPRING'S GIFT – laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ARIK LAD – over-raced in the early and middle stages; lay in under pressure passing the 200 metres inconveniencing NATIONAL GOAL for several strides.
RACE 2: HYGAIN TRAINER OF THE YEAR STEPHEN MASSINGHAM BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609 M
KIRIKAN (NZ) – slow to begin.
EAGLE WARRIOR – slow to jump away; raced 3-wide without cover throughout.
BRAVE MASO – inclined to lay in and race keenly in the initial stages.
SAND 'N' POWER – over-raced in the initial stages: shifted out and bumped EAGLE WARRIOR passing the 400 metres: Held up rounding the home turn until passing the 200 metres. Upon returning to scale Lacey Morrison rider of the 4th placed SAND 'N' POWER lodged a protest against the third placed KIRIKAN alleging interference passing the 400 metres and again approaching the winning post. After consideration of all relevant factors the protest was dismissed.
AL RAS BLUES - Hung out under pressure approaching the winning post bumping with KIRAKAN, which in turn was taken out onto SAND 'N' POWER.
RACE 3: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD AND FOUR-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M
OUR EAGLE ROCK – disappointed for a marginal run passing the 250 metres and had to be momentarily steadied. Upon returning to scale Apprentice Nikki Olzard rider of the 2nd placed OUR EAGLE ROCK lodged a protest against 1st placed KRACKACAN alleging interference passing the 250 metres. After consideration of all relevant factors the protest was dismissed.
KRACKACAN – laid in passing the 250 metres.
FONEELEVEN – bounded on jumping away.
VEGAMEISTER – raced 3-wide without cover throughout. Apprentice Olivia Kendall was reminded of her obligations to ride fully to the line when circumstances permit, after relaxing her ride approaching the post. Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Kendall’s riding did not compromise her chances of finishing in a higher position.
WHATTA MISSION – inclined to over-race in the middle stages.
RAFF VADER – raced back from a wide draw at the start.
RACE 4: RYAN WIGGINS JOCKEY OF THE YEAR BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M
SPIRIT OF GIVING – laid in under pressure over the final 200 metres.
MATTEI – raced in restricted room for a short distance passing 700 metres when making the crossing onto the course proper; held up rounding the final turn until passing the 150 metres.
LULO ROSE – raced wide throughout.
REMEMBER ROY – began awkwardly; hung out under pressure over the final 200 metres.
STATESWOMAN - raced wide throughout.
WHITE ARENDELLE - improved onto heels passing the 100 metres and had to shift ground inward to continue to improve; had to be steadied approaching the post when awkwardly near the heels of the weakening REMEMBER ROY.
ROCKBARTON RACER – hampered over the final stages when inside SPIRIT OF GIVING which laid in under pressure.
RACE 5: TAMBO'S JUSTICE HORSE OF THE YEAR OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
GO GETABOY – raced keenly in the middle stages; tended to lay in throughout the event.
HE'S XCEPTIONAL – began awkwardly.
VALENKI – raced in restricted room and had to steady for a short distance near the 700 metres when inside GO GETABOY which shifted in marginally.
FAMILY STAR – slow to jump away.
HIGHER LOVE – began awkwardly.
UNDER THE LIMIT – Trainer Mr Tom Button was fined $100.00 under LR67(1) for failing to declare the rider of UNDER THE LIMIT by the prescribed time.
RACE 6: LADBROKE IT! CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 M
DARK GLEAM – had to steady off heels near the 600 metres when the tempo eased. Held up passing the 400 metres until near the 200 metres and when in clear running commenced to hang out for a distance.
HEAD HONCHO – proved difficult to load; began awkwardly; hung out rounding the home turn inconveniencing KIDSTON.
KIDSTON – hampered rounding the final turn when HEAD HONCHO shifted out to improve .
NEW LEVEL (NZ) – slow to begin.
KING SAMUEL improved onto heels near the 600 metres, having to be firmly restrained.
DIAMOND LUCY – raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1,000 metres.
REDAVNI – slow to begin
INALA ATICUS – raced wide without cover for most of the race.
CANDLELIT –Stewards noted rider Chris Meehan exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+1) under AR132(7)(a)(ii). However given the totality of whip use, no action was taken.
RACE 7: GABRIELLE SEMMENS APPRENTICE JOCKEY OF THE YEAR RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 M
KEEP ON RUNNING – jumped in at the start tightening HE GOES BOOM; raced wide throughout.
BUBBLES'N'FROTH – jumped out at the start hampering HE GOES BOOM; commenced to over-race passing the 1,100 metres; raced wide for the majority.
GOODNIGHT ROMEO – rider Ashley Butler was unable to make the required weight for GOODNIGHT ROMEO and was replaced by Wanderson D’Avila. Rider Butler admitted a resultant breach of AR 190(3) and was fined $200.00. GOODNIGHT ROMEO became awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening COOL STORY passing the 500 metres and shifted in checking SIMPLY DIVINE; momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
INNOVATES – slow to begin.
PURPOSE 'N' VISION – laid out abruptly passing the 50 metres and bumped with GOODNIGHT ROMEO.
HE GOES BOOM – hampered at the start; pulled hard in the middle stages.
LIVEWIRE LASS – raced wide throughout; forced wider passing the 800 metres.
CASH ARTIST – over-raced in the initial stages; improved onto heels leaving the 800 metres and shifted out abruptly forcing LIVEWIRE LASS wider.
COOL STORY – weakened passing the 500 metres and came back onto GOODNIGHT ROMEO which had to be steadied and shifted in hampering SIMPLY DIVINE which had to be checked.
SIMPLY DIVINE – checked near 450 metres.
THE EIGHTH I AM – began awkwardly.
VANCOUVER BAY - Stewards noted rider Chris Meehan exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+1) under AR132(7)(a)(ii). However given the totality of whip use, no action was taken.
