1. Rider Lacey Morrison did not attend the meeting after being injured at Mareeba on Saturday 6th September, with the rider changes advised.

2. Stewards permitted the following overweight requests:

RACE 1: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
NORDIC INVADER – shifted out on jumping
SHE’S A SWEET STAR – slow to jump away then raced very erratically for a short distance after the start, losing ground. Trainer Mr Terry McGovern was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly’s racing manners.
AMBER AFFAIR – travelled 3-wide without cover throughout; shifted in passing the 600 metres hampering THE KOBAY TRAIN which contacted a heel and blundered. Apprentice Olivia Kendal (AMBER AFFAIR) was charged under the provisions of AR131a in that she permitted her mount to shift in passing the 600 metres, resulting in THE KOBAY TRAIN contacting her horse’s heel and blundering, which caused its rider, Karl Zechner, to be dislodged. Apprentice Kendal pleaded guilty to the charge. In assessing penalty, Stewards acknowledged that while the incident carried significant consequences, the actions of AMBER AFFAIR itself contributed, to a degree, which was considered a mitigating factor. The Stewards also considered Apprentice Kendal’s good record, her admission of the breach, and her status as an apprentice rider. Given all factors, Apprentice Kendal's license to ride in races was suspended from the close of racing on Sunday 14th September 2025 up to and including racing on Sunday 29th September 2025 (14 days)
GOT THIS – got its head up and over- raced in the lead through the early and middle stages.
SPIETH IMPEDIMENT – checked by the riderless THE KOBAY TRAIN passing the 200 metres when well back.
FILLYDELPHIA MISS – jumped inward at the start.
WE US ’N’ CO – slow to jump away.
THE KOBAY TRAIN – tightened and contacted the heels of AMBER AFFAIR passing the 600 metres, then blundered, dislodging rider Karl Zechner who, after being assessed by the QAS personnel was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
BOLD SANTOS – shifted in and away from FILLYDELPHIA MISS on jumping, hampering WE US ’N’ CO; laid in over the final 250 metres, having to be continually straightened and could not be ridden to full advantage to the line.
RACE 2: LADBROKES MATES MODE POTS MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
ARIK LAD – over-raced in the lead through the middle stages – apprentice Olivia Kendal reported that in her opinion the gelding had failed to back up from racing last week.
COMBAT CRUSADER – fractious in the barriers prior to dispatch.
LECONFIELD – travelled 3-wide in the early stages.
OUTONO - laid in and bumped FLOURISH when making the turn near 900 metres. Stewards noted rider Chris Meehan steadied approaching the finish being narrowly beaten for 5th place. In explanation rider Meehan stated that over the final 100 metres the runners to his outside were shifting ground inward under pressure and accordingly he had to restrain. Rider Meehan’s comments were noted.
SUPEEDO GONZALES – slow to begin.
STARMEIRA – began awkwardly; over-raced in the early and middle stages; ducked in abruptly and was corrected passing the 100 metres inconveniencing LECONFIELD.
IRISH GIFT – trainer Mr Nathan Coves admitted a breach of AR 106 and was fined $100.00 for presenting IRISH GIFT at the inspection area with the incorrect saddlecloth; travelled 3-wide early stages; improved onto the heels of FLOURISH near the 850 metres and shifted out.
RACE 3: LADBROKES ODD SURGE OPEN HANDICAP 1609 M
SOLAR APEX very slow to leave the barriers – final warning placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
FAROOQ – improved onto heels passing the 600 metres and had to be steadied.
GOING NUCLEAR – apprentice Olivia Kendal accidently dropped her whip near the 200 metres.
SIR ROCKET – laid in when placed under pressure passing the 200 metres.
MAJOR ARTIE – over-raced for a short distance passing the 1,300 metres.
RACE 4: HYGAIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 M
OUR IMPACT – jumped in the air at the start and shifted in contacting KATHY’S ROSE. Commenced to lay in passing the 300 metres and had to be continually corrected throughout the final straight.
CELEBRATION – travelled wide throughout. Rider Jackson Murphy was reprimanded under AR131a after shifting in near the 500 metres when not clear of SHERE KHAN which had to steady.
VAGABOND PRINCE – travelled wide throughout.
SHIHO – travelled wide throughout.
TORQUE OF DREAMS – jumped awkwardly; travelled wide
ARTURETTA – travelled 3-wide throughout.
SHERE KHAN – placed in restricted room and had to steady near the 500 metres when inside CELEBRATION which was improving forward, and which shifted in when not clear.
RACE 5: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO BM65 HANDICAP 1000M
GOSSIP TORQUE – travelled 4 wide throughout; crowded for room passing the 700 metres.
SHINES – travelled 3-wide throughout.
KING’S HALO – began awkwardly.
KISS ME LATER – over-raced badly through the early and middle stages; shifted wider passing the 700 metres to avoid heels; lost an off-front and near-hind plates during the running.
SNITZAROO – bounded on jumping; travelled 4-wide throughout.
PERIGEAN – held up for a distance passing the 300 metres.
RUBY CHICKS – travelled 3-wide throughout.
IMPARDOO – travelled wide throughout; buffeted for several strides between KISS ME LATER and SNITZAROO near the 700 metres.
BLOOMIN’ RIPPER – shifted in passing the 500 metres crowding YAMABUSHI which had to steady; Apprentice Tyler Leslight was reprimanded under AR131a and advised he must provide greater clearance when shifting ground.
YAMABUSHI – crowded for several strides passing the 500 metres when inside BLOOMIN RIVER which shifted in.
GAMADALE NIP – slow to begin. Held up rounding the final turn and unable to obtain clear running throughout the final straight.
NO LOVE LOST – bumped with NORTHERNONTOP passing the 100 metres.
NORTHERNONTOP – bumped with NO LOVE LOST passing the 100 metres.
RACE 6: MITAVITE CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 M
OVER THE FALLS – travelled wide without cover throughout.
TYMON – slow into stride.
ANDALUS (NZ) – jumped out at the start bumping with SAVEE; travelled wide with cover throughout.
NOVELA – rider Sean Cormack was reminded of his obligations to ride fully to the line when circumstances permit after relaxing his riding style approaching the finishing post.
SAVEE – bumped at the start and briefly unbalanced when ANDALUS (NZ) jumped out.
RACE 7: NEXT MEETING FRIDAY 19 SEPTEMBER BM55 HANDICAP 1200 M
INDEFINITE (NZ) – commenced to over-race near the 1,000 metres and when being restrained came back onto GAZZA’S DIAMOND and resultantly onto MR POLAR who were both checked. Near the 350 metres Apprentice Olivia Kendal, when attempting to improve into a run to the inside of TO LOVE SOMEBODY which had not fully developed, bumped that runner and was obliged to steady her mount. Apprentice Kendal, in the presence of Riding Master Carl Spry was firmly reminded of her obligations regarding this practice; shifted wider near the 275 metres wider to gain clear running and improve.
TARGETED – hung out and commenced to over-race for a short distance near the 900 metres.
TO LOVE SOMEBODY – travelled wide throughout.
ALBANIAN BAY – held up for clear running at the 350 metres and had to be eased off heels.
FALLGUY – travelled wide throughout; rider Mitch Goring was reprimanded under AR211(1) for weighing in 0.6kg more than his declared weight.
JUNGLE JUICE – hampered after the start.
MR POLAR – jumped awkwardly then hampered after the start; over-raced throughout; checked at 1,050 metres. Checked off heels near the 400 metres and shifted out.
GAZZA’S DIAMOND – jumped in at the start, dictating JUNGLE JUICE inward onto MR POLAR which had jumped awkwardly; checked near the 1,050 metres.
THE HAIRDRESSER - travelled wide throughout; cast the near-fore plate during the running.
WHITE ARENDELLE - travelled 4-wide throughout.
