Stewards permitted the following overweight requests:
R2: Shane McGovern (HE GOES BOOM) + 1kg
RACE 1: TOWNSVILLE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES 1,000M
CLASSICISM - travelled 3-wide without cover throughout.
PRINCE OF DANCE – slow in the early stages.
SUGAR BEAR - bumped with SHON A STAR on jumping.
RED CITY SUN – slow into stride.
SHON A STAR – bumped with SUGAR BEAR on jumping; blundered at the crossing after the winning post when being eased down.
DAVIS JUNIOR – held up passing the 600 metres and had to be taken wider passing the 350 metres to obtain clear running.
RACE 2: TRANSPORTABLE LIFESTYLES BENCHMARK 65 1,400M
HIGHER LOVE – had to steady momentarily passing the 400 metres when awkwardly near heels; apprentice Tyler Leslight reported that the gelding had got its tongue over the bit during the running.
TRAPASSI – travelled 3-wide without cover until near the 800 metres.
STARMEIRA – got its head in the air and over-raced for a short distance when being steadied passing the 1,100 metres.
RACE 3: FOX DRILLING AND CONSTRUCTION BENCHMARK 58 1,200M
MUTAFIQ – laid out passing the 350 metres when under pressure.
IMPRESSIONISM – lay in near the 150 metres and had to be straightened.
WINNING SAGA – slow into stride.
HOT PURSUIT - held up for a short distance passing the 450 metres.
TO LOVE SOMEBODY – tightened and had to steady near the 1,00 metres when inside HE GOES BOOM which when laying in, shifted in and away from HOT PURSUIT.
RACE 4: TILING AND WATERPROOFING CLASS 3 PLATE 1,000M
EXOLENT CHOICE – gave ground over the latter stages and finished back; Raced keenly throughout; when questioned rider Jason Babarovich reported that the gelding’s tendency to over-race through the running had proved detrimental its chances today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
KHUMBILA – slow into stride.
ARGUABLE – travelled wide throughout.
RUSSIAN SUMMER – held up round the final turn and then disappointed for a run passing the 200 metres when behind EXOLENT CHOICE, which lay out marginally and KHUMBILA which shifted in, thereafter had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance.
TRAPEZE PLEASURE – travelled wide throughout; hung out under pressure over the final 250 metres.
CRAICARO – slow to begin; checked passing the 400 metres. After questioning riders and reviewing the limited vision available it was established that SUPER TWENTY THREE which was laying in marginally, and positioned tight to the inside of ARGUABLE has shifted in and away from that runner, with this resulting in CRAICARIO being tightened for room. Given all circumstances the Stewards could not be satisfied that any one rider was at fault and no further action was taken.
EXTRA FREE – travelled wide throughout.
RACE 5: 5 QUEENSLAND PLASTIC SURGERY AND CHRYSALIS 1,000M
FAMILY STAR – slow into stride; had to change ground passing the 150 metres after improving onto the heels of MONONGLE SURPRISE.
HEAD HONCHO – fractions in the barriers; slow into stride.
BOOMING LAD – hung in throughout the final straight.
