SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
 
1.    TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB –Tuesday 16th June 2026
 
Stewards reconvened an inquiry opened on 16th June 2026 into the reason Licensed Trainer Mr. Bodine Bailey was using a mobile phone in the Townsville Turf Cub Jockeys Lounge following Race 4 on the day. Mr. Bailey and his legal Counsel Mr. C. Cullen attended via a video conference and after taking further evidence, Mr. Bailey pleaded guilty to contravening AR 218 (4) in that he used a mobile phone in a restricted area being the Jockeys Lounge to which he pleaded guilty and was fined $500.00 In assessing penalty Stewards took into account following an inspection of his mobile phone that it was not being used for nefarious purposes.
 
Mr. Bailey further pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 232 (b) for leaving an inquiry and the course at Townsville on June 16 2026, without Stewards permission. Mr. Bailey was fined $500.00 with Stewards ruling that $300.00 be suspended for a period of 12 months pending no further similar breaches. Mr. Bailey was advised of his right of appeal regarding both matters.   
 
 
2.    JULIA CREEK TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB –Saturday 20th June 2026.
RACE 4:        BRODIE AGENCIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1350 M
 
Stewards today spoke to Apprentice Jockey Mitch Goring, in the presence of Riding Master Carl Spry, regarding his riding of TYMON at the Julia Creek Turf Club meeting conducted on Saturday 20th June 2026 where he permitted the gelding to shift inwards whilst improving near the 550 metres resulting in LASTING FAME having to be steadied. Whilst the Stewards determined that the circumstances did not warrant further action on this occasion, Apprentice Goring was counselled regarding his obligations when riding on dirt racing surfaces and the unique challenges such tracks can present. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for him to ride to both the conditions and the individual characteristics of each track. Apprentice Goring acknowledged the Stewards' concerns and the advice provided.
 

RACE 1:KEY MOTORS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1000 Metres

ESPRIT LAD – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.  When questioned regarding the below market expectation of ESPRIT LAD jockey Ben Kennedy stated ESPRIT LAD was fractious during its preliminary and raced greenly for the majority of the race and after shifting in, bumping the running rail near 600 metres came off the bridle and failed to respond to his riding. His explanation was noted.  

CHATSWORTH – Slow into stride. Raced greenly for the majority of the race and raced wide. Laid out under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride. Trainer Gareth Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
DARK FAE – Shifted in at the start bumping with SENSEI GIRL. Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
 
SENSEI GIRL – Shifted out at the start bumping with DARK FAE.   
 
STYLISH ROSIE – Blundered on its own accord near the 500 metres.       

RACE 2:WOODFORD RESERVE MAIDEN HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) – 1200 Metres

TRUSTING STAR – Slow to begin.         
 
OKAY ZOOMER – Slow into stride.
 
VOLARE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AYE VEE AITCH – Over-raced in the early stages.                 
 
WEBS – Momentarily hampered near the 100 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of WEBS identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. WEBS shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: i. a gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or ii. an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.
 
PRINCE PIER – Difficulties obtaining clear running entering the home straight until near the 200 metres. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100 metres forcing AMBER AFFAIR wider which hampered WEBS.   
 
AMBER AFFAIR – Forced wider near the 100 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race. 

RACE 3:BELLE PROPERTY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres

CONVO – Slow to begin.   
 
SILVER CITY – Shifted out at the start tightening BETTA AL which shifted out bumping BLACKTHORN. Following today’s performance connections advised it is their intention that the gelding be retired from racing.
 
BETTA AL – Tightened for room on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight having to be straightened on two occasions, proving difficult to ride.
 
BLACKTHORN – Bumped on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance of BLACKTHORN jockey Sean Cormack stated the gelding was unable to muster early sufficient early speed to go forward so he elected to settle in behind rather than be caught wide in the race with a heavy weight impost. Jockey Cormack then stated that when placed under pressure to improve leaving the 600 metres the gelding had responded only fairly and may now be looking for a longer distance. Jockey Cormack’s explanation was noted.
 
BLUEBIRD BAY – Shifted out at the start bumping LOOK AT ROSA. Over-raced in the early stages.             
 
LOOK AT ROSA – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.            

TALONS – Over-raced in the middle stages.


RACE 4:LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 Metres

ACROPHOBIC – Slow to begin.
 
ROUGE MOULIN – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Shifted in shortly after the start to obtain a position closer to the rail contacting PRINCE AKEEM on a number of occasions. Jockey Lacey Morrison was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure near the 100 metres having to be straightened.
 
PRINCE AKEEM – Bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start and was momentarily unbalanced. Lost its off front plate during the race.  

ACCLIMATISE – Over-raced in the early stages.         

SWATOW – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its off hind lower leg.    
 

RACE 5:MITAVITE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

KOBAYASTAR – Slow to begin.  
 
KIRIKAN (NZ) – Slow to begin. Bumped passing the winning post.  
 
FISTSOFFURY – Began awkwardly and was then inconvenienced by TORANAGA which was forced out.

TORANAGA – Hampered at the start and shifted out, in turn hampering FISTSOFFURY. Commenced to shift out under pressure leaving the 200 metres and approaching the winning post, under hard riding, continued to shift out forcing NOLAN out onto CHARTWELL which became awkwardly placed at the heels of KIRIKAN and was checked. Jockey Ivo Fry pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 131(a) in that he allowed TORNAGA to shift out when not clear to do so. Jockey Fry’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight tonight (22/06/2026) and expire midnight 1 July 2026.
 
NOLAN – Shifted out at the start forcing TORANAGA out inconveniencing FISTSOFFURY. Tightened for room approaching the winning post and shifted out bumping CHARTWELL.    
 
BANCORY BAY – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey Sean Cormack advised Stewards on returning to scale that he was opinion gelding would benefit from today’s race having its first race start right handed.    
 
CARPACCIO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey Adam Sewell stated that whilst the gelding over-raced, he was of the opinion it was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormalities.      
 
CHARTWELL – Bumped approaching the winning post becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of KIRIKAN having to be checked.   

 
RACE 6:GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres

FONEELEVEN – Was declared a late scratching at 2.18pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the horse float on transit to the track. Trainer Jeffrey Caught was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.
 
WILLINGALE – Blundered on jumping and then inconvenienced by SWEET CANDY which shifted out.
 
EXTRA FREE – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously approaching the 800 metres and shifted wider.
 
SWEET CANDY – Shifted in near the 800 metres placing STORM CAPITAL in restricted room for a short distance. Jockey Rachel Shred was reprimanded under AR131(a). Hampered near the 100 metres and was steadied. 

STORM CAPITAL – Raced in restricted room near the 800 metres. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn, and when obtaining clear running near the 100 metres shifted out into the line of the weakening SWEET CANDY which had to steady.  Jockey Aidan Holt was reprimanded under AR131(a).         
 
SECRET CYPHER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.                       
 
DIAMOND LUCY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
 

RACE 7:LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres

GEE EYE WHY – Slow to begin.
 
CIFONELLI – held up rounding the home turn until near the 250 metres.
 
LOWLANDS – Shifted in at the start bumping CANNY PROSPECT. Raced wide for the majority of the race.        When questioned in regard to the below market expectation performance of LOWLANDS, jockey Ryan Wiggins stated that notwithstanding the gelding was disappointing it was however obliged to race wide and it was its first run from a let up. Jockey Wiggins added that in his opinion LOWLANDS would benefit from today’s race.
