GENERAL
 
Latitude was afforded when assessing the performances of runners that appeared not to appreciate racing through the significant kickback and dust experienced during today’s meeting.
 
 
RACE 1: CLONMELL RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP800M
 
STORMY SWEY – laid out after leaving the barriers contacting the hindquarters of SPEC OF SILVER and in consequence, lost ground.
HOT TORQUE INVEGAS – bumped shortly after the start.
LUNA READY – hung out shortly after leaving the barriers bumping with HOT TORQUE INVEGAS which in turn was taken out onto SNIPPILLICIOUS which was hampered.
SNIPILLICIOUS – hampered shortly after leaving the barriers.
SPEC OF SILVER – ducked in abruptly near the 75 metres and had to be straightened.
EMERALD JOY – travelled wide without cover throughout; laid in under pressure throughout the final straight.
 
RACE 2: COOVIN / NOEL O'SULLIVAN MEMORIAL1100M
 
MAKE IT SO – when questioned regarding the below market expectation performance of MAKE IT SO, rider Warwick Satherley reported that the mare had travelled well in the run, however when placed under pressure responded only fairly and was disappointing. Rider Satherley added that, in his opinion, MAKE IT SO would benefit from today’s run.
MAKANUI – laid in briefly passing the 400 metres.
GOTTA HERO – got back in the early stages. Apprentice Tom Orr reported that GOTTA HERO had resented the kickback in the early stages; however, after being taken wider passing the 800 metres, the gelding came onto the bridle and finished the race off well.
 
RACE 3:CLERMONT CONCRETE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE1100M
 
BULLRUN – began awkwardly then got well back, losing contact with the field in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of BULLRUN, which was having its first start on a dirt track today, rider Warwick Satherley stated that after getting back in the field the gelding had resented running through the kickback and failed to come onto the bridle in consequence. Rider Satherley added that once free of the kickback BULLRUN had got to the line well.
CHEERS HONEY – underwent a veterinary inspection upon arrival at the track after racing the previous day and was cleared to run.
RUBY DOREEN – Performed below expectations. Apprentice Jacallen Dooley reported that the mare did not travel comfortably in the significant dust and kickback. Stewards noted the mare’s history of poor performances and previous warnings and restrictions. However, having regard to RUBY DOREEN racing on a dirt surface for the first time, together with the prevailing racing conditions today, RUBY DOREEN was afforded some latitude when assessing the mares performance. Trainer Lochie Manzelmann was nevertheless advised that the mare was now on a final warning in relation to its competitiveness and that any further unsatisfactory performance may result in further action being taken against RUBY DOREEN.
 
RACE 4: BRAVUS / APIAM CLERMONT VET SURGERY CLASS 61200M
 
KAYLEEN'S PROFIT – underwent a veterinary inspection upon arrival at the track after racing the previous day and was cleared to race; got back after the start; taken wider in the middle stages to avoid the kickback.
TRAPEZE ARTIST – slow into stride.
MARAVILLAS – laid in and brushed with DARK GLEAM near the 250 metres.
DARK GLEAM – brushed with MARAVILLAS near the 250 metres.
 
RACE 5: TWIN HILLS COMMUNITY CUP OPEN HANDICAP1570M
 
ACROPHOBIC – travelled wide in the middle stages.
THE EXTREME CAT – bumped with CASH ARTIST on jumping.
REVVED UP READY – over-raced in the early and middle stages.
CASH ARTIST – bumped with THE EXTREME CAT on jumping.
REPLACE THE ACE – inclined to lay in over the final stages.
