SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Dalby 16.1.15 – Race 4: When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance of BILLIONS, rider N. Evans stated that after being slow to begin he was required to pressure his mount to hold a competitive position. He added that his mount raced ungenerously and dipped on several occasions and failed to respond to his riding. He further added that he pressured the horse with the whip rounding the home turn, however it again failed to respond to his riding and made no real ground in the home straight. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 7: When questioned regarding his riding of I’M NO RUBY in the home straight, G. Geran stated that he was disappointed for a run near the 200m between EXCEEDINGLY BAY and MAZZANO which shifted in, he then shifted to the outside of heels and a short distance later was held up when EUREKA DAZZLER shifted in slightly. He added that once he obtained clear running inside the 100m, his mount failed to respond to his riding. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 8: Subsequent to the disappointing performance of KHE SANH, trainer B. Currie was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards and provide a veterinary clearance before racing again.
GENERAL
As apprentice R. Payne was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Trainer R. Lipp was fined $100 for the late declaration of K. Yoshida as the rider of SERALA (Race 1) and MUTUAL BENEFIT (Race 3).
Race 1: TATTSGROUP CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1850M
After senior rider N. Evans failed to arrive at the track on time, Stewards acceded to a request by trainer N. Saunders to scratch LIDO at 4.37 pm when no other suitable rider was available. N. Evans was fined $100 for failing to fulfil his riding engagement.
Correct weight was delayed to enable B. Evans, the rider, and L. Hatch, the trainer of HEREAFTER, placed 3rd by the Judge, to view both the photo finish and video footage over the concluding stages. After viewing both the judges print and the video footage both parties were satisfied with the judges placing’s and correct weight declared.
UNSPOKEN – Eased when improving onto heels after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
BARBUDA – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer S. Saal-Winter was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding.
HERAFTER – Stewards will interview B. Evans at a later date regarding his whip use.
COL ‘N’ LIL – Inclined to lay in in the home straight and near the 100m shifted in abruptly, resulting in the rider having to stop riding and straighten.
AQUAMARINE – Threw its head in the air when being steadied after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Made the crossing at the 1500m awkwardly. Apprentice N. Nishio was reminded of his whip use when out of contention.
RAZZLING DAZZLER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
GAS BURNER – Slow to begin.
SERALA – Held up for clear running leaving the 200m until approaching the 100m.
Race 2: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
THE YOWIE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Had to be restrained to avoid heels leaving the 100m and shifted in. When asked to comment on the seemingly disappointing performance, rider S. Bogenhuber stated that she was able to obtain a leading position and that the horse travelled comfortably throughout. She added that when under pressure in the home straight the horse failed to respond to her riding and she felt that in her opinion the horse had come to the end of its preparation.
HI MACKAY – Raced keenly between the 900m and the 600m. Apprentice E. Ljung pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that leaving the 100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of THE YOWIE, which had to be restrained to avoid the heels of HI MACKAY and shifted in tightening the running of HI HI, which was tightened for room and forced to check. Apprentice Ljung’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Friday 30 January, which is at the conclusion of a previous suspension, to expire at midnight on Wednesday 11 February 2015 and to be served concurrently with the period of suspension imposed in Race 3. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice Ljung stated that after being caught wide she had no option but to ride her mount forward to a position outside the subsequent leader THE YOWIE. She added that despite her efforts the mare raced keenly and she felt that having to pressure her mount so early in the race and also the racing manners of the horse contributed to the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
CLASSIC BEND – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
CHILLS - Raced wide from the 600m.
TIERES ROCK – Improved onto heels near the 650 and was steadied. Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m.

Race 3: HANNAS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
SHEZA LONHRO was a late scratching at 3.32 pm after receiving a confirmed telephone call from trainer N. Coy that he was unable to arrive at the track on time to race due to a vehicle breakdown.
When jockey N. Evans arrived on track he was examined by the attending ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his riding engagements.
ZHUHAI – B. Evans was fined $100 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
MIDNIGHT CURFEW – Raced wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened in the home straight, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
DRIVING WHEELS – Slow to begin.
MUTUAL BENEFIT – Raced wide throughout.
SELFIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to overrace near the 700m and had to be steadied from heels approaching the 600m. As apprentice B. Newport was dislodged whilst returning to the enclosure and being attended to by Ambulance officers, he was unable to be weighed. After confirming that apprentice Newport had weighed out correctly and after checking all of his gear that was carried, acting under the provisions of AR.142, stewards were satisfied that SELFIE had carried its correct weight and therefore declared correct weight on the judges placing’s.
SWEET AND SAVAGE – Bumped by another runner at the start.
GALWAY TOWN – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner. Tightened for room near the 1100m, had to be checked and lost its position. Commenced to race keenly from the 1000m until the 900m and when being eased lost ground.
IMILCHE – Raced wide throughout.
RED WARNING – Knuckled shortly after the start. Apprentice E. Ljung was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GALWAY TOWN, which was tightened for room between RED WARNING and SWEET AND SAVAGE, and as a result had to be checked and lost its position. Apprentice Ljung’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Friday 30 January, which is at the conclusion of a previous suspension to expire at midnight on Friday 13 February 2015 and to be served concurrently with the period of suspension imposed in Race 2.

BLONDE BOMB – Began awkwardly and then a short distance later was tightened for room. Steadied from heels near the 800m.
CARACAS – Hung out near the 850m. Steadied rounding the home turn when placed in restricted room. Stewards issued a charge of careless riding against apprentice E. Ljung in that near the 800m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of PENHALE SANDS, which was tightened for room and forced in, tightening ABSEIL on to the running rail, resulting in ABSEIL having to be checked and lose ground. After taking evidence from all parties and hearing submissions from Jockeys Advocate Mr Dean Tanti, Stewards were unable to substantiate the charge and therefore took no further action with regards to this matter.
ABSEIL – Checked when tightened for room near the 800m and lost ground.
MORE MUSIC – Laid across heels approaching the 400m and had to be steadied.
Race 5: VANDERFIELD QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

GUMDALE BOY – Bumped at the start.
KISS MY BRASS – Jumped away awkwardly. Apprentice T. Brooker stated that her mount was inclined to lay in behind runners in the home straight and proved difficult to ride. Stewards noted the comments. When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer T. Thomas stated that at its previous start the gelding did not handle the tight track at Kilcoy. He added that he was confident of a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation.
WOMEN BE SHOPPING – Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner. Shifted out and away from another runner to avoid heels leaving the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.
