SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Racing Queensland Stewards today inquired into a complaint lodged by Racing Queensland Sample Collection Official Ms R. Burchmann in respect to the conduct of licensed stablehand Ms Jodie McLeod in the swabbing stall on Saturday 30 May 2015. Stewards, after giving consideration to the submissions put forward by both parties, subsequently charged Ms McLeod under AR. 175(j) in that she did conduct herself in an improper manner by directing insulting and abusive comments towards Ms Burchmann whilst she was performing her duties as a sample collection official. Ms McLeod pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently fined $500, however acting under LR. 22(f), Stewards suspended $300 of the said fine for a period of 12 months on the condition that Ms McLeod does not breach the same rule or a rule of a similar nature within that period.

From Offices of Racing Queensland 1.6.15: Trainer S. Saal-Winter was fined $200 for having in her employ an unlicensed stablehand.


GENERAL

After receiving a report from the veterinary surgeon regarding the presence of a swelling on the neck of LOOK AT ANYTHING (Race 3), Stewards questioned both trainer B. Currie and the veterinary surgeon, after which the matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Both urine and blood samples were taken from LOOK AT ANYTHING and sent for analysis.


Race 1: XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1300M

STREET FEVER – On returning to scale both trainer B. Currie and apprentice E. Ljung reported that the colt raced flat today, which they attributed to the horse not backing up from its last start.

TREASURES SECRET – Momentarily steadied rounding the home turn when attempting to secure clear running.

DEEP CROSSING – Raced in restricted room near the 1200m and had to be steadied for a short distance.

ONE BIG PARTY – On returning to scale N. Evans reported that his mount travelled will during the event, however when asked to improve into the race near the 400m the gelding commenced to feel awkward in its action and from that point failed to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

PEARLY COURT – Fractious in the barriers, became cast, removed and inspected by the veterinary surgeon. PEARLY COURT was declared a late scratching at 4.46 pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse was unfit to start. Trainer T. Sears was advised that in the circumstances a warning was issued. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on PEARLY COURT be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

10 cents in the dollar for the Win #1
9 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
12 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2

Race 2: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE BM65 H'CAP – 1000M

LORD BEAUFORT – Slow to begin.

STARSTREAMED – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

DAZZLING HALO – Rider dropped his whip rounding the home turn.

AMERICAN SPIRIT – Laid out rounding the home turn.

L’UCCELLO ROSSO – Injured whilst being loaded onto the float, declared a late scratching at 2.35 pm for veterinary reasons.

TURBO TEDDY – Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: GED COSGROVE MEMORIAL BM75 H'CAP – 1650M

KING LUDWIG – Laid in throughout.

STORM MAGIC – After being ridden along to obtain a forward position, commenced to overrace and raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

FIFTH COLUMN – Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 1200m and shifted wider on the track, and as a result lost ground.

HUSSY ERIN – Slow to begin.

WICKED BABE – Bumped approaching the 400m.

LOOK AT ANYTHING – Commenced to race ungenerously and threw its head in the air and lost ground when being eased near the 1200m. Made contact with another runner when attempting to shift out approaching the 400m. Laid in in the home straight.

SPORT OF KINGS – Slow to begin. Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 1200m and shifted wider on the track, and as a result lost ground.

Race 4: DAWN OSBORNE FLORIST QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1210M

FORDYCE KNIGHT – Raced wide throughout.

MACSPICK – Fractious in the mounting yard and made contact with the enclosure fence on a number of occasions. Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to race. Shifted in abruptly near the 1100m when eased to avoid the heels of LUCKY ELLA.

COURTING SALLY – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.

FOREWARD STRIKE – Slightly slow to begin, then further hampered and lost ground shortly after the start. Made contact with the running rail near the 900m.

REAL EYES – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.

SORORITY SISTER – Blundered on jumping away. Bumped with another runner near the 900m.

LUCKY ELLA – Raced greenly throughout. Laid in during the early stages of the event. Bumped with another runner near the 900m.

SECRET FORCE – Tightened for room at the start.

Race 5: TYRRELL’S WINES CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1210M

RHIATENN ROAD – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

TRY ‘N’ CATCH ME – Raced wide throughout.

POUND ON TUBBY – Late scratching at 5.35 pm for veterinary reasons.

ROCKLEA RAIDER – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice T. Brooker was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mounts when shifting ground.

STAR THOMAS – Slow into stride.

EARLSTOUN RULER – Raced wide throughout.

RULING MISS – Tightened for room and eased approaching the 1000m when racing to the inside of SNEAKY PETERSON, which was taken in by SWEET AND SAVAGE, which shifted in when not completely clear. N. Evans, the rider of SWEET AND SAVAGE, was reprimanded.

Race 6: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

BEAUXBATON – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 500m despite the efforts of its rider. Made contact with another runner when obtaining clear running leaving the 400m.

HE’LL BE RIGHT – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure when struck with the whip in the home straight.

FLASH DRAGON – Forced to steady to avoid the heels of another runner which shifted in near the 500m despite the efforts of its rider.

FOXY SAINT – Laid in whilst weakening leaving the 400m and was bumped by another runner.

SESANCHO – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide in the early stages. Bumped near the 150m.

PETE’S BELLE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in near the 150m and made contact with SESANCHO. Apprentice M. Schrapel was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts to the finish of the race.

GILDED SPIRIT – Hampered at the start when bumped by another runner.

Race 7: VANDERFIELD MAIDEN H'CAP – 1650M

MYTYBYTE – Began awkwardly.

PRINCE BEAUFORT – Tightened for room at the start.

LADY HARRIET – Tightened for room at the start. Commenced to race keenly approaching the 1200m and then near the 1100m was shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of another runner, then raced wide until a point near the 700m where it was ridden forward by the rider to obtain a position outside the leader.
