DRINKING COCKTAILS and PERFECT STAR were scratched due to no riders being available.
ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Late scratching by order of stewards at 2.30pm due to transport difficulties.
FILLE ARDENTE – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer M. Kropp advised that the mare, which was having its first race start since September, had been working well in the lead up to today's event and he was anticipating a forward showing. He added, however, that the mare did not begin well and had to work hard in the early stages to obtain a forward position, which he felt contributed to FILLE ARDENTE not finishing off the race as strongly as anticipated. Stewards noted the explanation.
JAGONAL – Steadied from heels near the 800m when THE ROBBER (App. T. Brooker) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Brooker was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Jockey T. Grey was reprimanding for using her whip more than five times prior to the 100m.
THE ROBBER – Apprentice T. Brooker was fined $500 for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race. In assessing penalty, stewards were of the view that her actions had potentially cost the gelding fourth placing.
OLE PABLO – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer's representative M. Currie reported the gelding was having its first start for their stable. He added that the gelding was having its first race start since August, had trialled well leading into today's event and the stable was confident of a forward showing. Stewards noted the explanation.

ZIZUMBA – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously for a short distance from the 900m. Hung out rounding the turn near the 800m.
THE A LISTER – Bumped another runner at the start. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer M. Nolan advised that the mare was having its first race start since July and had been working well in the lead up to today's event. He added that while he was confident of a forward showing, he was still somewhat surprised the mare was able to win today. Stewards noted the explanation.
RED WARNING – Apprentice T. Brooker advised that it was not her intention to lead, however after being caught wide in the early stages she allowed the gelding to stride forward.
Race 5: WINNING EDGE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1050m
1st – ROUGH EDDIE 2nd – OUTBACK STORM 3rd – UNI 4th – SEQUASI
TIME TO REMINISCE – Tightened for room at the start.
BETTER OFFER - Tightened for room at the start. Disappointed for a run near the 150m.
HE'S EASY GOING - Tightened for room at the start. Clipped heels and blundered shortly after the start. Raced ungenerously after being crossed near the 800m and had to be steadied from heels shortly after that point. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer J. Judge advised stewards the gelding would now be retired. Nonetheless Mr. Judge was advised he would need to provide a veterinary clearance with ECG results for HE'S EASY GOING, and the gelding would need to complete a satisfactory trial prior to racing again.
ROUGH EDDIE – Hung out near the 600m.
UNI – Bumped, became unbalanced and had to be checked from heels near the 400m when ROUGH EDDIE (App. J. Oliver) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J. Oliver pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) and his license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine days, to commence at midnight on Monday 28 December 2015 and expire at midnight on Wednesday 6 January 2016. The saddle shifted on UNI near the 300m placing the rider at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
