Race 1: iTHINK PROPERTY QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 PLATE – 1210M

LOPE FOR JOYA – Improved on to heels near the 500m and was steadied by its rider. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. When questioned as to the below market expectation performance of his mount, jockey R. Goltz advised that the filly became quite agitated during the preliminary and whilst in the barriers after being loaded. He added that the filly travelled strongly during the event but when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Threw its head in the air on jumping away, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced and as a consequence the mare settled further back in the field than anticipated.

MISHANI SHIRAZ – When questioned as to the below marked expectation performance of her mount, apprentice L. Kilner expressed disappointment with the performance of the mare, however, could offer no tangible explanation other than that the mare raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery and mucous in the trachea.

Race 6: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BM65 H’CAP – 1210M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed while stewards viewed the patrol footage of the start. After viewing the videos and taking evidence from the starter Mr P. Brennan and apprentice H. English, the rider of IBELIEVEICANFLY, it was established that just prior to the start being effected IBELIEVEICANFLY had lunged forward and as a result opened its barrier prematurely. As a result, stewards found that IBELIEVEICANFLY had gained an unfair advantage and as a result led the field by over a length shortly after jumping. Therefore, acting under the provisions of AR. 134B, stewards declared the horse a non-runner. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on IBELIEVEICANFLY be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #1
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2
