GENERAL

Following a number of Stable Inspections at Eagle Farm and Toowoomba by the IIT today, Stewards requested pre and post-race samples from a number of runners at today’s Toowoomba meeting. Stewards will continue to make further inquiries in relation to these inspections and await the return of results of both pre and post-race samples which were taken from runners engaged at today’s meeting.

Race 1: AXIOM INSURANCE FILLIES & MARES RATINGS BAND 0 – 65 H’CAP – 1200M

COOL DRAFTS – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 900m. Laid out rounding the home turn.

GYPSY MISS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

INNER HURRY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly and had to be steadied from heels approaching the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which tailed off, revealed it to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr. J. Judge was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

THUMBS UP – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 900m.

Race 2: MURDOCH LAWYERS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

JACKSON STORM – Raced keenly on heels when the pace steadied approaching the 900m. Laid in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.

LIPSTICK EFFECT – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Laid in in the home straight. Lost the near hind plate in running.

STYLISH LOVER – As jockey L. Tarrant was not riding at the meeting today due to injury, T. Harrison was substituted as rider.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Good 4 to a Good 3.

Race 3: WEBSTER CAVANAGH QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1625M

ALL SHIRAZ – Jockey M. Cahill reported that his mount never travelled at any stage of the race,  which he attributed to the filly being reluctant to stretch out on the firm going today. Trainer Mr. R. Lipp agreed with jockey Cahill’s assessment and added that, in his opinion, the filly would be better suited on surfaces with more give than that of today’s race. Stewards noted the explanation. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no significant findings.

FLYING PRETTY – Raced keenly on heels in the early stages.

FREEDOM FACTOR – Began awkwardly.

LUVDISC – Raced with its head in the air whilst hanging out in the early stages.

Race 4: TOOWOOMBA FAMILY VETS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES RB 0 – 65 H’CAP – 1200M

MAKE A RULER – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

STORMY GREY – Held up when attempting a narrow run leaving the 150m.

JUST FAVULOUS – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that after beginning awkwardly his mount settled further back in the field than anticipated.

DAZET – Raced in restricted room near the 400m.

Race 5: LAMBLE BUILDING BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP – 1200M

BOOMWAA – Steadied from heels leaving the 300m when BOLD CHANCE (R. Wiggins) shifted out. Jockey R. Wiggins was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. Steadied from heels near the 150m when tightened for room between BRAX and TAILLEVENT.

URBAN KNIGHT – The stable representative was advised that Trainer Mr. D. Hansen was fined $200 for the late declaration of App. C. Bayliss as rider. Began awkwardly. Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 700m, and from that point raced 3 wide without cover.

TAILLEVENT – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

PUBLISHING POWER – After beginning well, the gelding was ridden forward to avoid being caught wide and, as a consequence, obtained the leading position which resulted in it racing further forward than its most recent starts.

BRAX – Slow to begin and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated. After attempting a run to the inside near the 150m, jockey T. Harrison was obliged to shift her mount out in an attempt to obtain clear running, however she was unable to do so, and from that point the gelding was unable to be fully tested.

Race 6: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M

The start of this race was delayed due to technical difficulties with the photo finish. The start was effected manually.

THE SHOWMAN – Jockey E. Ljung reported that her mount did not travel comfortably at any point throughout the race.

GEMELLI – Jockey C. Gallagher reported that the saddle slipped back during the race.

OUT FOR JUSTICE – Began awkwardly.

MJOLNIR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

OSMOSIS – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

BULLION BELLE – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. As the mare has stood flat-footed in consecutive races, Trainer Mr. B. Lockwood was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

KOPELLA – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner approaching the 1200m. Raced wide from leaving the 900m until the 600m.

CEOL NA MARA – Laid in in the early stages of the home straight.

FIRST WITNESS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Bumped by another runner approaching the 1200m.

HANG – Made the home turn awkwardly.

BODEGA NEGRA – Bumped by another runner upon entering the home straight.

CASHING UP – Began awkwardly.

ALCAZAR – Prior to the race, Trainer D. Forster advised that the mare is in foal. After Ms. Forster became concerned that the mare look awkward in its action in the enclosure, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

CHARLES THE THIRD – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer R. Smith regarding the late declaration of A. Fancourt as rider. Slow to begin.
