GENERAL

As J. Woodhouse was not attending the meeting today due to illness, riding replacements were made in Races 3 and 4 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA BM75 H’CAP – 1100M

The start of this race was delayed to allow the broadcast of an intrastate event.

I’M ALONE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

AHWAHNEECHEE – Bumped shortly after the start, and then made contact with GO GET SUM.

GO GET SUM – Bumped by AHWAHNEECHEE shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.

MISHANI SHIRAZ – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. The trainer’s representative for Mr. B. Currie was advised that the horse will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

Race 2: ENTERPRISE LEGAL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

LI’L RODGE – Shifted out to avoid heels near the 400m.

BOSS’S BOY – Bumped near the 400m. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

WOLF TALES – Declared a late scratching at 5.05pm due to Trainer B. Baker bringing the incorrect horse to the racecourse for this race. At a subsequent inquiry, Trainer B. Baker pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 59(2) in that he breached rule AR. 59(1)(a) by bringing the incorrect horse to Clifford Park racecourse for Race 2 rather than WOLF TALES, which was engaged to run in that race. Mr. Baker was fined the sum of $750. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr. Baker’s guilty plea and his very good record over a significant period of time.

A REAL GEM – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

STAR ADELE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

CHASINGWAGTAILS – Slow to begin.

SPECIAL THING – Got its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 900m.

Race 3: FOX & WILLOW BOUTIQUE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M

MAN IN MOTION – When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, Apprentice B. Nothdurft advised that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the race, however when placed under pressure in the home straight his mount commenced to compound quickly and proved disappointing. Trainer Paul Nolan Jnr. advised that, in his opinion, the gelding travelled too keenly in the early and middle stages which contributed to the disappointing performance. He added that the 59 kilogram weight impost may have also had a bearing on the horse’s performance today. Stewards noted the explanations. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.

STARCASTER – Brushed by another runner leaving the 200m and, as a result, shifted wider on the track.

VICTORY DANCE – Slow to begin.

WALL STREET TYCOON – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages.

RIMMSKI – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 4: BIG BAVARIAN CHRISTMAS BOOK NOW MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

AAVAARA – Trainer N. Hocking reported that the gelding had become fractious whilst being unloaded from its float and, as a result, got away in the float carpark before being recaptured. As the gelding had sustained a laceration as a result of this incident, it was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Began awkwardly.

LITTLE ALBERT – Momentarily held up entering the home straight.

MY BELLY BUTTON – Became fractious in the parade yard and proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. The horse underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arriving at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners. Slow to begin. Jockey J. Stanley reported that when he was improving into a run over the concluding stages, he had to steady his mount when HUGHSTAAD shifted out.

ZOUZOUZALO – Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.

BRIGHTER DAYS – When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance of the mare, which weakened badly over the concluding stages, Apprentice R. Goldsbury advised that, in her opinion, it raced too keenly in the early and middle stages, and would benefit from obtaining a soft lead. Stewards noted the explanation.

ROSIE’S TIARA – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Shifted out to avoid heels approaching the 300m.

BATTEN – Raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 5: RYLEY JEWELLERY CREATIONS BM62 H’CAP – 1625M

At the request of the jockey, FIRST WITNESS underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arriving at the barriers and was passed fit to start.

BEQUEATHED – Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages.

HALFETI – Laid in rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which tailed off, revealed no apparent abnormalities.

BONSEA – Momentarily held up entering the home straight.

Race 6: MOET & CHANDON FILLIES AND MARES BM70 H’CAP – 1300M

NOW YOU SEE – Hung in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.

PRECIPITATE – Raced keenly in the early stages.

UMAWINNER – Brushed by another runner approaching the 100m.

VICTORY TOAST – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the filly to be ridden more quietly today over the 1300m. The horse was ridden accordingly. Brushed by another runner approaching the 100m.  Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
