GENERAL
 
A number of riders attending the meeting today provided urine samples for analysis.
 
Race 1: PLATINUM INTERNATIONAL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed when TEDDER AVENUE reared over in the saddling enclosure dislodging E. Ljung. Jockey Ljung was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil her engagement. The mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Trainer K. Kemp observed the incident and indicated that he was satisfied for the horse to take its place in the field.
 
GETS SMOKIN’ – After being caught wide in the early stages, the gelding was allowed to stride forward to obtain a leading position near the 1000m.
 
GREYNOMAD – Blundered at the start and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CARD TRICKS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
TEDDER AVENUE – Began awkwardly.
 
STELLAR JEWEL – Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
SURFACE TO SURFACE – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Goltz reported that his mount hung out throughout.
 
Following the race, jockey E. Ljung was reassessed by Queensland Ambulance Officers and stood down from her remaining engagements. Jockey Ljung was subsequently transported to hospital for further observation. Riding replacements were made in Races 3 and 4 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Jockey D. McIntosh was assessed by Queensland Ambulance Officers after returning to scale distressed.  He was subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
Race 2: VALE NOEL COOK BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1625M
 
BENICO’S PRINCE – Tightened for room on jumping away between SOLITARY ROSE and SHE GOES POP and, as a result, lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. Momentarily steadied in the home straight when BONSEA shifted in marginally.
 
SHE GOES POP – As Apprentice B. Nothdurft was unable to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement due to a delay at another venue, N. Thomas was substituted as rider. Jockey N. Thomas was found guilty of a charge under AR. 131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out approaching the end of the race. Jockey Thomas was fined $200. In determining penalty, Stewards could not be satisfied that Jockey Thomas’ actions had cost his mount second placing. Stewards also took into consideration his prior good record in relation to this rule.
 
SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Shifted wider on the track to a position outside the leader as the pace steadied approaching the 1000m.
 
SOLITARY ROSE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
STORMY LEO – Declared a late scratching at 5.04pm due to transport difficulties.
 
BONSEA – Jockey W. O’Connell was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip.
 
Race 3: HAPPY 50TH FESTIVAL ROB, BILL & WAL – RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 H’CAP – 1625M
 
SIR BAM – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
LOTZA – Bumped on jumping away. After being caught wide in the early stages, the gelding was allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader leaving the 900m. Laid in under pressure near the 200m.
 
MAGLEV – Slow to begin.
 
SPECIAL THING – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide and laid in for the majority.
 
Race 4: MOORE TRAILERS BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1100M
 
Jockey J. Oliver was dislodged from MADDIARA prior to the start being effected in a seemingly harmless fall. Jockey Oliver advised that he able to fulfil his engagement.
 
CLIVEDEN – Began awkwardly and made contact with a runner to its inside. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Bumped by another runner shortly after straightening. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 100m making contact with THE PALMS (App. B. Nothdurft) which shifted in and hampered STAR STRYKER (K. Yoshida). Apprentice M. Wishart, the rider of CLIVEDEN, was reprimanded.
 
CONQUERMORE – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Raced 3 wide without cover in the middle stages. Bumped by another runner shortly after straightening and, as a result, shifted in and made contact with CLIVEDEN. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
HEAVENLY ARCHER – Tightened for room on jumping away. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE PALMS – Began awkwardly.
 
MADDIARA – Laid out rounding the home turn, and bumped another runner shortly after straightening.
 
THUMBS UP – As Apprentice N. Keal was unable to claim down to his riding weight, Apprentice H. English was substituted as rider. Apprentice N. Keal was fined $200. Slow into stride.
 
WEARETENFORTYEIGHT – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m.
 
STAR STRYKER – Raced in restricted room and was steadied to the inside of THE PALMS approaching the 100m.
 
LWAZI – Stewards permitted the gelding to race without a nasal strip which is part of the horse’s gear when Trainer B. Robinson failed to bring this gear to the meeting today. Trainer B. Robinson was fined $100 for failing to present the horse with its correct gear. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. Steadied from the heels of CLIVEDEN approaching the 100m.
 
Race 5: AG RIGGING BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 870M
 
CAMBOOYA ROCK – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
PAPA JO – Trainer L. Hatch was reprimanded under AR. 102 for failing to lodge a stable return reporting that the horse had been gelded. Knuckled on jumping away. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
CASH’N’RUN – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
REAL PATRIOT – Declared a late scratching at 3.05pm on veterinary advice. Trainer T. Sears was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
 
ASK AUDREY – Raced very wide without cover throughout.
 
SECLUDE – Steadied when placed in restricted room in the early stages.
 
DUTCH GAL – Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer B. Mahon was advised that the horse will be ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
 
LAST ROUND – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
WINNINGTON – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
Race 6: RAY BUNCH MACHINERY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
 
KNUCKLEBOX – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DON’T LOOK NOW – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
RERUN – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
RABOLINI – Slow to begin and lost ground.
 
MAHONEY – Slow to begin. After being caught wide in the early stages, jockey D. McIntosh rode his mount aggressively from a point passing the 800m to obtain a position closer to the rail passing the 700m.
 
ARMA GRANDAE – Began very awkwardly, and then shifted out abruptly almost dislodging its rider. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Trainer P. Sexton was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
 
LIPS – Checked and lost ground near the 300m. Jockey J. Oliver, the rider of LOVE YERS ALL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that when attempting to secure clear running near the 300m, he directed his mount between MAHONEY (D. McIntosh) and LIPS (App. H. Phillips) where there was doubtful room. As a result of this incident, LIPS had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey Oliver’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 10 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 10 August and expire at midnight on Tuesday 20 August 2019. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Oliver’s guilty plea and were mindful of his poor recent record in relation to this rule.
 
SONG FOR GRACE – Checked and lost ground near the 700m when KNUCKLEBOX (App. M. Savva) shifted in. Apprentice M. Savva, the rider of KNUCKLEBOX, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that near the 700m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LIPS (App. H. Phillips) which shifted in and tightened the room of A SONG FOR GRACE (App. A. Spinks) which was checked and lost ground. Apprentice Savva’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 7 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 10 August 2019 and expire at midnight on 17 August 2019.  In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Savva’s guilty plea and her prior good record in relation to this rule.
 
Race 7: HYGAIN MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M
 
BEGIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
GET ME CHARLIE – Steadied from heels whilst racing keenly passing the 800m. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
EULEILAH – Slow to begin.
 
MOA’S GIRL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
