GENERAL
Following a track inspection, the track was downgraded to a heavy 8 at 2:45pm due to rainfall after the scratching deadline.
Race 1: VANDERFIELD BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2175 metres
The start was delayed when SLAUGHTER BAY cast a plate during the preliminary and required farrier attention.
Following the event Jockey R Palmer (CORSINI) was physically ill and as such was prevented from weighing-in when placed 3rd by the judge. As stewards were of the opinion that Jockey Palmer carried her correct weight in the race, correct weight was declared acting under the provisions of AR 208(3)(b).
BRACKEN- Ridden forward by its rider from a rearward position near the 1200m to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m.
EFFEXX- Jockey R Goldsbury replaced Jockey L Tilley as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted jockey L Tilley’s explanation for failing to fulfill this engagement.
SCHWARZY- Slow to begin.
Race 2: GET OUT STAKES Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
DIS DAH WUN- Tightened for room on jumping.
MOOK- Forced extremely wide on the track by a runner which hung out rounding the home turn.
NORSE MYTHOLOGY- Raced 3 wide without cover during the early and middle stages before being forced wider on the track as a result of another runner hanging out and as a consequence made the home turn extremely wide.
SHELLEY'S SPIRIT- Made contact with the running rail when securing a tight run passing the 600m.
STYLISH HABIT- Approaching the 800m was momentarily forced to race in restricted room and was eased.
AWESOME POWER- Raced 4 wide without cover during the early and middle stages before being forced wider on the track as a result of another runner hanging out and as a consequence made the home turn extremely wide.
THE WAITING MAN- Hung out from the 700m and shifted very wide on the track. Trainer P Sexton was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to next racing.
EVASIVE LIGHT- Raced 5 wide without cover during the early and middle stages before being forced wider on the track as a result of another runner hanging out and as a consequence made the home turn extremely wide.
SISTER KATHLEEN- Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground.
Race 3: CALTEX TOOWOOMBA Maiden Plate 1875 metres
No racing incidents
ATOMIC BOMB- Jockey B Ainsworth was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, three more than permitted.
JUMEIRAH TRIANGLE- Jockey A Spinks was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, three more than permitted.
Race 4: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres
MYSTERY TRICK was declared a late scratching at 4:41pm due to transport difficulties.
DUSI CANOE- Dislodged its rider during the preliminary and galloped a short distance before being recaptured. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and was subsequently passed fit to start.
RANGAS RULE- When being restrained near the 900m raced with its head in the air for a short distance. Near the 150m was disappointed for a run and was forced to shift to the inside to secure clear running.
Race 5: CREATE WITH COTTEE BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1640 metres
HELLAVA BABE- Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.
LI'L RODGE- Severely tightened at the start, lost ground and as a consequence settled further back than anticipated. Momentarily steadied when placed in restricted room rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
WILD MOON(NZ)- Upon returning to scale Jockey J Stanley reported WILD MOON may have got its tongue over the bit during the event and as such failed to run on as he had expected in the home straight when placed under pressure. Jockey Stanley further added that he advised Trainer L Hatch to apply a tongue tie to the horse’s gear for its next start. Trainer L Hatch advised that the gelding had recovered well after the event however on the advice of jockey Stanley will now add a tongue tie to the horse’s gear
WILLIAM- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
THE POTATO PONTIFF- Bucked shortly after the start resulting in App. M Kennedy being dislodged. In this incident App. Kennedy sustained a wrist injury and was subsequently stood down from her remaining engagements. App. Kennedy will require a medical certificate prior to next riding. Rider replacements where made as per the stewards summary
Trainer L Gore was advised she will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to it next racing.
SPIRIT OF EDYN- Checked badly when tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
Race 6: SANDER PARTNERS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1210 metres
LITTLE MISS PIXIE- Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.
FUNKY BEAT- Slow to begin. Near the 1100m, was bumped heavily and forced wider on the track for a short distance.
MARRIED IN VEGAS- Slow to begin. Near the 1100m raced in restricted room and was eased.
Race 7: BLACK & WHITE CABS Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres
BESTIE- Tightened for room and checked leaving the 200m. At a subsequent inquiry App. M Cartwright (GOOD GRAB) was found guilty of a charge of careless ringing under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in at that point of the race causing interference to BESTIE. App. Cartwright’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 01/11/20 and to expire midnight the 10/11/20.
MUZZLEFLASH – As the gelding had not raced for a period in excess of 12 months it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and subsequently was passed fit to start.
RUN THE CUTTER- Slow to begin.
