GENERAL
 
Trainer T Thomas was fined $100 for failing to withdraw dual acceptor Nobel Artist by the prescribed time. (LR36(6)).

Race 1: Wideland Group Class 1 Plate 1300 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed to allow an interstate event to be completed.  
 
DIRECT DRIVE – Near the 900m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
I’M HITCHIN’ BRO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WEALTH’N’POWER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PUCKO – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted. Jockey S Bogenhuber advised that after beginning well, she was able to obtain position in the lead without having to pressure her mount. Stewards noted her explanation.
 
OUR ROCKIN’ – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
VIVID FORTRESS – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Near the 400m was forced to  steady and shift wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of WEALTH’N’POWER.   Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Stewards advised apprentice A Jones that in similar circumstances she would be expected to make greater effort to stop and straighten her mount.
 
BLOODBBLISTER – Near the 200m was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels.
 
Race 2: Samios Plumbing BM70 Handicap 1300 metres
 
WHAM – Raced ungenerously in the early stages when being restrained.
 
MY COUSIN BOSSY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
APITHANOS – Leaving the 600m shifted out and bumped with GOTTA BE FIRST on a number of occasions.
 
ESKDALE GIRL – Stewards permitted apprentice D McGillivray to claim 2kg of his 3kg allowance on the mare. In determining on the matter of penalty, stewards were mindful of the current COVID restrictions, accepted apprentice McGillivray’s explanation and took no further action. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Performed below market expectations. Apprentice D. McGillivray reported that the mare raced flat and was disappointing. He further added that the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL – Slow to begin. Performed below market expectations. Jockey J Murphy advised that the mare raced flat tonight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LITTLE JERRY – Required farrier attention upon arrival on course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to start. Passing the winning post was steadied for a short distance when placed in restricted room.
 
Race 3: Tuff Bullbars BM62 Handicap 2000 metres
 
PROUD ROC (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied when placed in restricted room by DÉCOR DEELS (app M Kennedy), which shifted out to improve when not sufficiently clear. App M Kennedy was reprimanded for careless riding under (AR131(a)).
 
PUCKISH – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m raced in restricted room.
 
DECOR DEELS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Raced three wide and without cover from the 1200m. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening MYSTIC BROOK.
 
FRONT PAGE NEWS – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BRYBECK – Jockey K Yoshida was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful that this was his fourth offence since the 8th of August 2020.
 
MYSTIC BROOKE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
 
 
Race 4: Tuff Coating Class 1 Handicap 1850 metres
 
MADAME GRACE – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping JUMERIAH TRIANGLE. Shortly after the start was steadied when placed in restricted room by BUDDY’S TALE (M Crawford), which shifted out whilst under riding. M Crawford was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
RISE’N’SHINE – Slow to begin.
 
DINNY’S A SUSPECT – Leaving the 1700m raced in restricted room. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 100m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. 
 
NOBLE ARTIST – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping JUMEIRAH TRIANGLE.  
 
JUMEIRAH TRIANGLE – Crowded on jumping. Shortly after the start was steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
BUDDY’S TALE – Raced wide throughout.  
 
Race 5: Toowoomba & Lockyer Valley Kart Club Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
LITTLE BROWNIE – Leaving the 600m shifted out to improve and made contact with IRONSTONE GAL.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD – Slow to begin.
 
MATILDA GENE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers and was passed suitable to start. Slow to begin. Leaving the 900m raced in restricted room. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST – Raced wide and without cover throughout. Hung in approaching the 600m. Near the 100m had to be checked when tightened between SINGLE CHARGE, which shifted in marginally and MATILDA GENE (S Bogenhuber) which shifted out when not clear. Jockey S Bogenhuber was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a).

FAINTLY MACABRE – Trainer M Boland was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of J Murphy as the rider of the filly. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers and was passed suitable to start.
 
IRONSTONE GAL – Slow to begin. Leaving the 850m raced in restricted room. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
LEADBURN LION– Raced wide and without cover throughout.
 
DIVINE AUTHORITY – Inclined to shift in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
FOUND THE MARK – Declared a late scratching at 7:59am by order of stewards. Trainer T Hurley was fined $200 for failing to withdraw the gelding by the prescribed time. (LR68(1)).
 
Race 6: Happy 90th Hazel Laycock QTIS Two-Years-Old and Three-Years-Old Maiden 1200 metres
 
BOOM BY BY – Tightened shortly after jumping and lost ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CUTABRI – Eased to avoid heels near the 800m. Eased down from the 600m. Rider L Tarrant advised that he had concerns with the gelding’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to lame behind. Trainer K Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again. Jockey L Tarrant was severely reprimanded under AR185 for changing his safety vest after weighing out. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration that Jockey Tarrant came forward and admitted his mistake to the stewards prior to an inquiry.
 
GRACIOUS KNIGHT – Began awkwardly.

GUESS WHO – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 900m got its head up and raced ungenerously.
 
MILLCHESTER – Near the 100m bumped heavily with DEVILS RIGHT.
 
PRITI PIPER – Began awkwardly.
 
DEVIL’S RITE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 100m bumped with MILLCHESTER.  Trainer L Hatch was fined $200 for removing the gelding from the course prior to the permitted time. (AR165(3)). Due to Mr Hatch refusing to return the gelding on course, so it could be assessed by the veterinary surgeon, stewards advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate as well as officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. An Inquiry in Mr Hatch failing to obey a steward’s direction was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Stewards questioned Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor regarding his vigour in the home straight. Apprentice Wilson-Taylor advised that his gelding has raced outside the leader throughout and was a tired and was weakening coming into the home straight. When questioned regarding at a point near the 200m whereby he appeared to look to his outside and desist from placing his horse under further pressure he advised that at that point BOOM BY BY was improving quickly to his outside and he noticed that horse was laying in. He added that he then desisted from placing pressure at that point as to avoid putting himself in a unsafe position before continuing to ride his mount out from the 75m. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
MENSA MAESTRO – Began awkwardly.
 
FORCEFUL MATILDA – Improved performance queried.
 
SECRETS GALORE – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 7: Audi Centre Toowoomba BM60 Handicap 870 metres
 
SHAME JOB  - Underwent a pre-race veterinary after rearing in the barriers and was passed suitable to start.
 
SNAP ON – Hampered passing the 150m when BEATING DRUM shifted out after being awkwardly placed on heels.
 
FRISCO’S IMAGE – Began awkwardly.
 
MR STACK – Hung in throughout. Brushed the running rail approaching the 400m. Trainer T Pascoe was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
LADY RASCAL – Stewards permitted app A  Jones to replace M McGillivray due to him being overweight. In determining to issue no penalty stewards were mindful current COVID restrictions.  Underwent a pre-race veterinary after rearing in the barriers and was passed fit to start. Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Trailed the field throughout. Apprentice A Jones advised that the mare failed to stretch out throughout.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
