GENERAL
 
Following a report from the QRIC Integrity Investigations Unit, BUMP'N'RUN was declared a late scratching at 9:42am by order of the Stewards. Stewards have adjourned an inquiry to be set at a later date.
 
As apprentice S Tomlinson was to fulfil his engagement in race 1 due to transport difficulties, stewards replaced him as per the race day summary.
 
Stewards granted permission to the following Jockeys to ride overweight due to current restrictions.
Race 5 – BULLOO – A Mallyon plus 0.5kg at 55kg.
Race 7 – SOKUDO – M Cahill plus 0.5kg at 54kg.
 
Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1850 metres
 
BRILLIANT CONCEPT – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. 
 
FORTIFIED (NZ) – Performed below market expectation. Rider J Orman could offer no tangible explanation into the disappointing performance, stating that the gelding travelled only fairly during the event and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination of did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
BETTER ETHICS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
TIDES OF JUPITER – Leaving the 900m shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YOUNGBLOOD – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
LADY SOLERNO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS Class 6 Handicap 1625 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed by Stewards to consider if AVOWAL was afforded a fair start. After hearing evidence from Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor, Trainer L Hatch and the Starter and reviewing the patrol films, Stewards were satisfied that as the start was effected AVOWAL became fractious, reared and lost considerable ground and taking no competitive part.
 
Trainer L Hatch was advised that gelding will be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
MATOWI (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DEEP SCEIVA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
PREDICTABLE MISS (NZ) – Approaching the 250m momentarily steadied when disappointed for clear running and shifted out.
 
Race 3: MOORE TRAILERS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres
 
VOULAIT – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained and improved onto heels and shifted in abruptly making contact with TRENGGANU. Near the 500m when continuing to race keenly improved onto heels and was steadied.
 
INVINCORE – Bumped on jumping.
 
BLUE ODYSSEY – Began awkwardly.
 
TRENGGANU – Approaching the 800m was steadied when awkwardly placed at he heels of VICEMAN. Near the 700m race in restricted room and bumped by VOULAIT which shifted in abruptly.
 
KIRRA LASS – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
EXCEED ROCK – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
VICEMAN – Near the 500m improved on heels and had to be steadied.
 
MOTOMISS – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field.
 
INDIAN THUNDER - Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field.
 
BID IN A HURRY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Near the 100m shifted in abruptly under pressure.
 
CAMBOOYA ROCK – Raced three wide with cover in the middle stages.
 
 
Race 4: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES PAT O'SHEA PLATE QTIS 1000 metre
 
MISHANI MENTAL – Became fractious in the parade enclosure and dislodged apprentice S Tomlinson. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
MISHANI EMBRACE – Bumped heavily on jumping. Near the 800m steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of POSSOVER which shifted in momentarily. Jockey Bradley Appo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
STRAIGHT ALPHAS – Performed below market expectations. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor could offer no tangible explanation to the disappointing performance other the filly worked hard in the early stages and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight.
 
KATYSPHERE – Slow and shortly after was checked when tightened for room and lost ground.
 
MISHANI SUNSHINE – Began awkwardly and shifted out and made heavy contact with MISHANI EMBRACE. Near the 550m was steadied when improved onto heels. Approaching the 100m was again steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring STRAIGHT ALPHAS.
 
POSSOVER – Raced greenly throughout.
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS GARDEN CITY GUINEAS 1625 metres
 
GENERAL WOLFFE – Slow to begin. Apprentice S Tomlinson reported the gelding hung out throughout and proved difficult to ride.
 
WHITEWATER – Began awkwardly.
 
BULLOO – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 800m was steadied when racing in restricted room.
 
MISHANI TULIP - Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Held up for clearing from the 600m until a point near the 400m. On pulling up dislodged rider J Lloyd who was subsequently examined by the QAS and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
SUTTO'S GAL – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m whilst racing keenly shifted wider to improve. Lost an off-hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 6: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1300 metres
 
FIGHTING TEO – Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined $400 for use of the whip 8 times prior to the 100m, which is 3 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
SNOWZONE – Raced four wide for the majority. Near the 700m was bumped on the hind quarters by PAPA JO which was taken out by FACTORY WARRIOR. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TEARS OF LOVE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
ROCK AMORE – Bumped on jumping.
 
VINCO – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight
 
PAPA JO – Raced three wide with cover throughout.  Near the 700m was placed in restricted room to the outside of FACTORY WARRIOR which shifted out whilst racing keenly.
 
LET'S PARTY MARTY – Slow to begin and shortly after was tightened between runners and contacted heels and blundered. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
FACTORY WARRIOR – Near the 700m whilst racing keenly shifted out and made contact with PAPA JO. Approaching the 500m improved onto heels, was restrained and had some difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300m.
 
Race 7: TAB TOOWOOMBA CUP 2000 metres
 
WAPITI – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
HE RUNS AWAY (ARG) – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied from heels.
 
CHAMPAGNE AUNTY – Exiting the home straight on the 1st occasion whilst racing keenly was permitted to stride forward and take up position outside the lead near the 1400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
STARDOME (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied from heels. Apprentice J Lloyd was fined $500 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
BERING SEA – Began awkwardly.
 
CHOCOLATIER (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SOKUDO – Began awkwardly and shifted out and bumped with STARDOME.
 
LUNASNIT –Trainer B Lockwood advised Stewards that mare will be ridden further back with cover circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Near the 800m shifted out to improve and raced wide for the remainder.
 
MAEVILA RULER – Held up for clear running momentarily near the 400m.
 
Race 8: AUDI CENTRE WEETWOOD Handicap 1200 metres
 
SOXAGON – Help up for clear running approaching the home turn. Rider B Stewart reported that the gelding travelled well however failed to respond to his riding from the 500m.
 
DESERT LORD – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Rounding the home turn was forced wider when ROYAL HALE shifted out to improve.
 
TACTICAL ADVANTAGE – Held up for clear running from the 500m to a point near the 300m.
 
YOU MAKE ME SMILE – Raced wide in the early stages. When question into the disappointing performance rider S Thornton reported that the gelding worked hard in the early stages and failed to respond to her riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
FLASH AAH – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SNITCH – Began awkwardly and bumped with TACTICAL ADVANTAGE. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Rounding the home turn was steadied with tightened for room between JUNTION and SOXAGON which shifted out to improve.
 
TYCOON ACE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide for the majority. Over the concluding stages was steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
MACEWEN – Disappointed for a run near the 100m.
 
RHYME NOR RHYTHM – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced four wide for the majority.
 
JUNCTION – Raced four wide for the majority.
 
RED STINA – Stood flat footed and was slow into stride.  Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 9: EUREKA STUD BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ICED – Slow to begin.
 
COLPO DI TAMBURO – Near the 150m bumped by JETSKI which shifted out to improve.
 
RAGING POLE – Over-raced in the early.
 
TESARC – Raced four wide throughout.
 
FROZEN IN TIME – Raced in restricted room near the 800m. Held up for clear running from the 600m to a point near the 200m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
