GENERAL
Due to programming changes at other venues and a number of riders having commitments at other venues, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.
Due to the current Covid Restrictions the following weight alterations were permitted.
Race 1 B. Appo – MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN - +.5kg
Race 1 L. Tilley – QUEEN LEAR - +.5kg
Race 2 L.Tilley – PRINCESS KAYO - +.5kg
Race 1: EASTCOAST CONCRETE CONTRACTORS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
The start was delayed when QUEEN LEAR bucked on route the barrier dislodging its rider. Upon arrival at the barriers the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start. In this incident the bridle on QUUEN LEAR was displaced and as a result a further delay was experienced when this required refitting at the barriers.
BAUHINIA BEANS – The trainers representative for the Maegher stable was advised that a $100 fine would be imposed for the late rider notification. LR 67.
FITZROY BOY – Near the 900m brushed the running rail and as a result shifted out becoming unbalanced. Post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened in the home straight failed to reveal any abnormalities.
COLD HARD FACT – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Near the 800m steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn before shifting to the outside to secure clear running.
REDZEB – Bumped on jumping.
MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Hung out throughout the event.
SOLARCH – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Raced three wide without cover the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
GLOBAL FACTOR – Near the 900m bumped when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner which shifted out abruptly.
VLADKING - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SUZY NEEDS LOVIN' – Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
TYRIAN – Lost a near fore plate in running.
Race 2: THE V.J. BUTLER MEMORIAL SUMMER PROVINCIAL SPRINT
SERIES - HEAT BENCHM 1100 metres
UNO AMOR – Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 5.36pm after becoming fractious in the barrier causing Apprentice Wheeler to sustain an injury to his right shoulder ruling him unfit to fulfil his engagement. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all moneys invested on UNO AMOR be refunded with the following deductions to apply –
1st -9cents the win, 7cents place
2nd -9cents the place
3rd -11cents the place
SPINNING SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner.
VOULAIT – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MOTOMISS – Near the 900m checked significantly to avoid heels.
NORSE MYTHOLOGY – Near the 900m clipped heels and blundered when racing between REST OF THE WORLD (B. Appo) shifted out marginally whilst hanging out and VOULAIT (J. Taylor) which was taken in by SUPER ONE SUSIE (G. Geran) which shifted in when not completely clear. Stewards advised jockey Geran to exercise more care in similar circumstances. When accessing the incident stewards were mindful of the shift outwards by REST OF THE WORLD which contributed to the incident and therefore took no further action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
REST OF THE WORLD - The trainers representative for the Mr M. Currie was advised that a $100 fine would be imposed for the late rider notification. LR 67.
SUPER ONE SUSIE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
PETITE ELLE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 3: AUSTMIX AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 metres
As apprentice Ty Wheeler was injured in the previous event he was replaced as per the Stewards summary. Apprentice Wheeler will require a medical certificate prior to his next ride.
Due to the delay in the previous event the starting time of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes.
BETTER BE BETTER - After becoming fractious on the float whilst being transported to the track, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the course and subsequently passed suitable to race.
DULC 'N' LEN – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. In the early stages of the home straight was disappointed for a run when attempting to secure clear running where there was doubtful room. Near the 150m after obtaining clear running to the inside of RED DRESS was then tightened for room when that runner shifted in. Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in at that stage of the race.
BRUTUS – Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
I PROMISE YOU – Tightened for room at the start. Near the 700m momentarily steadied to avoid heels. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
FINAL DECLARATION – Fractious in the barrier, reared as the gates opened losing considerable ground.
MADAM OF THE HOUSE – Subject to further submission trainer L. Hatch was fined $100 for the late rider notification. LR 67. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.
RUN THE CUTTER – Slow to begin
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 4: BUTLERS CONCRETE CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 58
Handicap 1625 metres
THE CARPENTER – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
EGO DANCER – Slow to begin.
WAITAKERE – Leaving the 1400m steadied when placed in restricted room.
LA RAPIDE – On returning to scale Apprentice N, Fazackerley that his mount failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and was unwilling to stretch out from the 600m.
LINCOLN FURY – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages before being forced four wide by another runner near the 800m.
MAMMA MEDIA – Slow to begin
Race 5: MARY BUTLER Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
BLUE TOP – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
JUST RAFFERTY – Three wide without cover throughout. Near the 100m whilst laying in was steadied to avoid the heels of BUBBLES’N’ MORE which shifted out under pressure.
DANEWIN CONNECTION - Three wide with cover throughout.
ROC DE CAVI (NZ) – Tightened for room at the start. Near the 150m when weakening momentarily placed in restricted room.
ROWLETT – Approaching the 1000m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained and lost ground. Near the 50m steadied to avoid heels of JUST RAFFERTY.
DUCHESS BREE– Tightened for room at the start.
MAX'S SOURCE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Three wide with cover throughout.
Race 6: PRO TINTING SPECIALIST Maiden Handicap 1850 metres
SORCHPOPILOUS (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
A FAIR SWEAR – Began awkwardly. Caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain the leading position near the 1000m.
SECRET SUSHI – Began awkwardly.
PRINENTE - Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 1000m after being crossed by another runner steadied.
POWER PUNCH (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out to improve near the 900m and as a result raced wide for the remainder.
STEEL CHANCE – Laid in for the majority.
Race 7: GTH GROUP QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 870 metres
RIPPIN' READY – Three wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
