SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Toowoomba Turf Club Race Meeting 4 December 2021- Stewards fined Jockey K. Cowan $100 for leaving the course without the permission of stewards.
 
GENERAL
 
Due to current covid restrictions the following overweight allowances were approved
 
Race- 5- Vishan Venkaya- +1kg.
Race 7- Gary Geran + 0.5kg.
Race 7- Chris Meehan- +1kg.
 
As Jockey Bradley Appo was injured and unable to ride at todays meeting he was subsequently replaced as peer the stewards summary. Jockey Appo was advised he would required a medical certificate prior to returning to race riding.
 
As Jockey L. Tilley was overweight for his engagements in Race 3 and Race 7 he was replaced as per the stewards summary. Jockey Tilley was subsequently fined $400 under AR190(3) for accepting rides when overweight.
 
Due to the Queensland Ambulance Service having to attend to an injured licensee on course, the start times for races 5 and 6 were amended as follows:
 
Race 5 - 6:55pm
Race 6 – 7:30pm
 
Race 1: STEELINE FNW CORRUGATED MEMBERS CUP BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Start was delayed when SPINNING SPIRIT proved difficult to load.
 
KING OF THE DESERT – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPINNING SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m when attempting to obtain clear running, bumped WAIT A MINUTE on a number of occasions.
 
WAIT A MINUTE – Began awkwardly. Travelled wide during the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the final stages.
 
MUSIC SCENE – Began awkwardly. Tailed off from the 400m taking no further competitive part in the event. Jockey M. Murphy advised that after travelled well in the early and middle stages, his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities
 
KEEP ON LOVING YOU – After racing wide in the early stages, restrained to obtain a position with cover leaving the 600m. Approaching the 100m, shifted out when awkwardly placed at the heels of WAITE A MINUTE.
 
LADY MELBA – Reared at the start and lost ground. Held up when rounding the home turn.
 
MAYA BAY – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Inclined to hang out throughout.
 
SOVEREIGN LEGEND – Raced wide with cover early.
 
 
Race 2: FNW SUPERSLAT Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
 
MARCADA – Refused to proceed to the barriers. As a result, MARCADA was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 4:48pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in MARCADA be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win - #10
1 cent in the dollar for the place of winner - #10
1 cent in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #12
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #2
 
Trainer P. Kalinowski was advised the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.
 
AND OVER AGAIN – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
HARRY’S ME BOY – Began awkward. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE TYLER – Began awkwardly contact with AND OVER AGAIN. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
GLOBAL FACTOR – Apprentice A. Jones was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
MY BEST EFFORT – Began awkward.
 
COLD HARD FACT – Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier partition. Held up from the 500m until the early stages of the home straight.
 
LITTLE MISS PIXIE – Approaching the 1100m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained to obtain a position with cover.
 
SHEINDLIN – Raced three wide without cover during early to middle stages.
 
Race 3: FNW STYLE CHOICE COLORBOND FENCING Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 1000 metres
 
RAPIDO GRIS – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
HEART OF KINGS – Upon returning to scale Apprentice K. Cowan advised that gelding felt awkward in its action throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-fore knee and have positive flection in the near-fore leg. Trainer G. Barbierato was advised that the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to racing.  
 
SPLASHER – Began awkwardly making contact with RAPIDO GRIS. Steadied form the heels of MAJOR NIC which was taken in by BIG TALK nearing the 900m. Jockey G. Geran (BIG TALK) was advised to exercise more care. Held up for clear running from the 500m point until the early part of the home straight. Placed in restricted room nearing the 150m point between MAJOR NIC and RAPIDO GRIS. Both Apprentice J. Molloy (RAPIDO GRIS) and Jockey G Walters (MAJOR NIC) were advised to exercise more care.
 
YOUNG CLIFFY – Approaching the 100m was placed in restricted room and forced to ease when HEART OF KINGS shifted in. Apprentice K. Cowan (HEART OF KINGS) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Slow to begin.
 
SPIN THAT WHEEL – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer E. Ensby stated that the gelding failed to handle the softer track conditions last start. He further added that with the shorter distance of todays event and todays track conditions he expected a forward showing performance from the gelding today. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Race 4: NATIONAL FARMERS WAREHOUSE Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 58 Hand 1000 metres
 
EARLY PLEA – Began awkward.
 
BRUTUS - At a point approaching the 800m, was awkwardly placed at heels and forced to check when GO FACTOR shifted in. Jockey L. Tilley (GO FACTOR) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at a point approaching the 800m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BRUTUS, resulting in that runner having to severely check from heels. As a result, Jockey Tilley’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight December 16th, 2021, and to conclude midnight December 25th, 2021. Jockey Tilley was advised of his right to an internal review.
 
ACCUMULATED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. 
 
ROYALE RETURN – Began awkward.
 
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Began awkward, travelled wide for the majority.
 
Race 5: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA MOODY FROM DARLING DOWNS
VETERINARY Fillies & Ma 1000 metres
 
SONIC ARROW - Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
IMPLACABLE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TINDER – Slow to begin. Laid out in the middle stages.
 
DREAMALINA – Began awkward and lost ground. Leaving the 600m point, improved onto the heels ZAITEKI and forced to restrain. Held up for clear running for a short distance in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 6: FNW CHAMPION ANIMAL ENCLOSURES Class 2 Plate 1850 metres
 
DROP THE PILOT – Began awkwardly. Travelled wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
OUR SPIDER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
WAITAKERE – Approaching the 1600m, was momentarily placed in restricted room when HAPPY FRANK shifted out despite the best efforts of its rider. Leaving the 1500m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MOJO BABY which shifted in. Apprentice I. Rabjones (MOJO BABY) was reprimanded for carless riding under AR131(a).
 
HAPPY FRANK – At a point leaving the 1700m, was placed in restricted room, checked and lost ground when STAR TWINKLE and FOXY ROSE were taken in by WINSTON BLUE. Apprentice M. Kennedy (WINSTON BLUE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at a point leaving the 1700m, she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FOXY ROSE, STAR TWINKLE and HAPPY FRANK, resulting in HAPPY FRANK being placed in restricted room, checked and lost ground. Apprentice Kennedy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight December 14th 2021 and to conclude midnight December 22nd 2021. Apprentice Kennedy was advised of right to an internal review. Approaching the 1600m, shifted out despite the best efforts of its rider and as a result momentarily placed WAITAKERE in restricted room.
 
INDIAN RANI - Slow to begin.
 
MOJO BABY – Began awkward. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROSE PIN – Began awkward.
 
 
Race 7: STEELINE FNW SERVICE OVER & ABOVE Maiden Handicap 1300 Metres
 
The start was delayed when ALITA was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.
 
Start was further delayed when TABOO became fractious in the barrier and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. TABOO was subsequently passed fit to start.
 
LONE HAND – Hung in for the majority of the event. Trainer L Hatch will be advised by Stewards the horse would be required to Trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to returning to racing.
 
DANEWIN CONNECTION – Slow to begin.
 
TABOO – Fractious in barrier.
 
MISS JENDI - Raced three wide without cover during the early and middle stages.
 
SPECIALDEE - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly between the 900m and the 800m point. Galloped on leaving the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained laceration to the hind legs. Trainer D. Leggatt was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to racing.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Clipped heels and blundered resulting in its rider being dislodged at the 300m. Following the event, Apprentice I. Teh was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was found to have sustained very minor injury. Apprentice I. Teh was advised she would require a medical certificate prior to returning to race riding.
 
THE FAIRYTALE – Travelled wide with cover during the early and middle stages of the event.
 
Stewards inquired into the incident that occurred at the 300m resulting in the rider of DUCHESS BREE (Apprentice I. Teh) being dislodged. After taking evidence from Apprentice I. Teh, Jockey C. Eaton (the rider of SPECIALDEE) and viewing the available patrol footage. Stewards were of the opinion that at a point approaching the 300m, DUCHESS BREE shifted out across the heels of SPECIALDEE to obtain clear running and as a result, clipped heels and blundered dislodging its rider.
 
 
Race 8: VALE CHRIS CASERTA Maiden Handicap 1625 metres
 
ADALISSA – Bumped another runner shortly after the start.
 
BABY RUN - Between 1300m and the 1050m point raced keenly whilst being restrained. Travelled three wide with no cover for the majority.
 
MONACO DELUXE – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start bumped ADALISSA and as a result became unbalanced. Travelled four wide throughout the early and middle stages.
 
SORCHPOPILOUS (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Travelled three wide without cover for the majority.
 
ROC DE CAVI (NZ) – Raced keenly during the early stages. Hung out rounding the 1200m turn.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST – Bean awkwardly. Travelled three wide with no cover for the majority.
