Race 1: CREATE ADVICE GROUP COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1210m

Due to the abandonment of a southern race meeting the start time for the event was amended to 4:45pm

BEST TO HURRY- Connections advised of their intention to have the gelding ridden in a more conservative manner than in its most recent starts circumstances permitting. Settled just off the pace with cover. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost both hind plates in running.

DOUBLES CHOICE- Due to a clerical error Jockey S Bogenhuber was displayed as a claiming apprentice in the official race program. Patrons were made aware by way of oncourse announcement. Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Hampered by another runner leaving the 200m, approaching the 100m having to be eased and shift in to avoid heels and again over the concluding stages.

YANGSEA- Dislodged a off-fore plate in the mounting yard. As the farrier was unable to re-fit the plate due the geldings manners permission was giver for the gelding to race bare behind. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Momentarily crowded approaching the 800m when a runner to the outside shifted in. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider approaching the 100m taking another runner in. App M Savva dropped her whip soon after entering the home straight. App Savva was reminded of her obligations to advise Stewards of such occurrences in a timely manner.

MAHA MUSTANG- Shifted in passing the 800m crowding YANGSEA (App M Savva), Jockey T Banks was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running hampering DOUBLE CHOICE (S Bogenhuber) passing the 200m, approaching the 100m and again over the concluding stages. Jockey T Banks was severely reprimanded and advised to stop and straighten his mount in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority.

HERECUM DA DRUMS- Slow into stride. Jockey Schrapel was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use his whip 15 times, 1 more than permitted, throughout the event.

Jockey J Oliver was severely reprimanded as a result of the initiating the tightening to THE CARPENTER, Stewards considered the fact Jockey Oliver was unable to relieve the tightening as a result of being taken in by YANGSEA to be a mitigating factor in the incident.

Race 2: KENNARDS HIRE AND FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1210m

Stewards noted the explanation.

MARCADA- Obliged to steady off heels approaching the 1000m.

MORI’S PRESS- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Whilst no other runner was interfered with in this instance Jockey L Tarrant was nonetheless advised to stop and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.

MISERY MISS- Shifted in and away from another runner approaching the 1000m causing MARCADA (S Fawke) to be steadied. Jockey G Geran was advised to exercise greater care as a result of this incident. Raced in restricted room from the 200m until a point approaching the 100m having to be restrained.

RAKU’S SECRET- Jockey G Cartwright was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she did permit her mount, under riding, to shift in leaving the 200m when insufficiently clear of MISERY MISS (G Geran) placing that runner in restricted room and causing it to be restrained and loose its rightful running. Jockey Cartwrights license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence on the 28th March 2022 up to and including 6th April 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Cartwrights plea, her record in relation to the rule as well as the degree of carelessness and interference which were deemed to be in the low range. Jockey Cartwright was advised of her right to an internal review.

Race 3: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL BENCHMMARK 68 HANDICAP 1300m

Trainer M Dunn corroborated the instructions. As it could be reasonably expected that the gelding would have settled further forward than its normal pattern of racing would dictate given the very limited pace present in the race and the advantageous barrier draw no further action was taken.
