GENERAL
As Apprentice A Jones failed to fulfil her engagement on RIPPIN’ READY, Stewards permitted W Peel to ride the filly. Apprentice A Jones was fined $200 under the provisions of AR126(1).
 
Race 1: NRG SERVICES QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000m
 
CLEARLY GEORGE – Became awkwardly placed on heels shortly after jumping. Inclined to over-raced throughout the event. Passing the 800m was obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Approaching the 500m again had to steady to avoid the heels of SKATER which shifted out whilst over-racing. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event which placed him at a disadvantage. Trainer V Heading was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings racing mannerisms.  Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer V Heading was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
DEMON DELIVERA – Dwelt on jumping.
 
LORD PROPHET – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly contacting ALFA LILY. Passing the 450m was obliged to check before contacting the heels of CLEARLY GEORGE, which was being restrained off heels, and blundered.
 
ALFA LILY – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
CONFETTI – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground as result.
 
PHEEBLLE’S SPIRIT– Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MASTER GEE – Obliged to restrain approaching the 800m after being tightened whilst racing in restricted room.
 
SKATER – Passing the 700m was obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Leaving the 500 again had to steady off heels while overracing. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ETHELDA – Hampered on jumping away. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: WESTREX BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100m
 
CARDICE – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 11:16am. Trainer A Simpson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start.
 
SHE’S A TIGRESS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
BULL DIMPLE RUM - Bumped on jumping away and had to be restrained.
 
SAM’S A NATURAL – Passing the 500m had to be steadied off heels and shifted out to improve.
 
CHATTY LADY – Bumped on jumping away and had to be restrained. Held up for clear running passing the 300m and was obliged to shift out to improve, Jockey Stanley was reminded of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
FREEDOM AVENUE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider was reminded of her obligation to stop and straighten her mounts when they shift significant ground in future.
 
HEDONIE – Approaching the 800m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHE’S A TIGRESS which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Wheeler, rider of SHE’S A TIGRESS, was advised to take greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
RURAL REBEL – Passing the 500m raced in restricted room to the inside I’M JACKO.
 
 
Race 3: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1625m
 
LEISA LOUISE – Rider reported that it was not his intention to lead in today’s event but after racing keenly in the early stages found himself leading soon after entering the back straight. He added that when placed under pressure his mount weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
JAC THE GREAT – Hampered on jumping away and as a result lost ground.
 
BUMP’N’RUN – Trainer G Betros was fined $200 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting the gelding with unstitched bandages. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
STAR DIVA – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
VENOMOUS – Trainer K Sima advised it would be the intention to have the gelding settle further forward than it had in its most recent starts should circumstances permit. Was slow to begin and settled worse than midfield.
 
 
Race 4: EZYQUIP Maiden Handicap 1000m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey L Tilley, rider of 2nd placegetter MOON STALKER, to view the photo finish. After Jockey Tilley was satisfied with the Judge’s placings, correct weight was declared.
 
 
CHIANTARI – Trainer M Currie was fined $200 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting the gelding with blinkers which were not part of the geldings approved gear. Hampered on jumping away.
 
EURO PRINCE – Raced wide throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K Kemp was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start.
 
GERTIE GOER – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting CHIANTARI. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
WINDJANA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
JAQEN H’GHAR – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
DREAM SEEKER – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
 
Race 5: SEECHANGE CONSULTANCY QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 870m
 
KKINKY DREAMS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
AMERICAN RED – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE RATTLE SNAKE – Laid in throughout the event. Raced wide throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE Class 2 Handicap 870m
 
TORBRECK – Trainer C Geran was fined $500 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting the gelding to the mounting yard without the lead bag. Slow to begin.
 
BOOGIELU – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TURBOART – Passing the 200m became awkwardly placed on the heels of BOOGIELU, which laid out, and was obliged to shift out to improve. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
EXCEPTIONAL BELLE – Rider reported that his mount resented the kick back in the middle stages.
 
JONDY ROCKET – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 7: THE FARM PROTECTORS Maiden Plate 1850m
 
 
TRUTH OR DARE – Tailed the field throughout the event. Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer N Peterson was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings competitiveness.
 
COMETTI (NZ) – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Apprentice J Malloy was fined $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
WESTLANDER – Slow to begin.
 
EPIC LOVE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Commenced to weaken from the 500m. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, rider reported that her mount failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
DAMIANI – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Rider reported that his mount travelled well throughout the event but when asked for an effort passing the 500m raced flat from that point on.
