HEAR HEAR- Dwelt in the barrier. Shifted out marginally passing the 900m. When shifting out to improve passing the 350m was taken wider than intended by another runner and bumped. Laid in under pressure down the running bumping with ST MORITS near the 250m before shifting in abruptly passing the 50m and crowding GENERAL ELLIOT. Trainer Gordon Hay was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Jockey L Tilley was also advised to exercise a greater effort in straightening his mount in similar circumstances.

REIGN HAYLIN SHINE- Began awkwardly. Obliged to ease off heels approaching the 400m. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and had difficulty obtaining clear running thereafter. Jockey J Murphy was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b).

Jockey S Lacy advised that her mount had never travelled comfortably in running and had been inclined o lay out for the majority before laying in down the running. Trainer T Pascoe advised that, in his opinion, the gelding is better suited to racing in a more forward position and may have been unduly favoured in the market. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ST MORTIZ- Raced keenly passing the 1400m. Bumped passing the 250m. Performed disappointingly. App J Mollow advised that his mount had travelled well until straightening and failed to let down as expected, adding the 1600m may be beyond the geldings ideal distance. Stable representative K Zahmel advised that the gelding was at the end of its preparation and would now be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the concluding stages to ensure the crowding of GENERAL ELLIOT had not d any tangible effect on the results of the race. Jockey S Lacy advised that her mount had raced flat and never travelled comfortably throughout the event.
