Stewards permitted the following over-weights at todays meeting:

Race 1: PLATINUM GLASS & SECURITY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1200m

EARN TO BURN- Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping.

GO MARO- Raced ungenerously near the 800m and 600m. Shifted out around heels leaving the 200m.

STAR OF ASCOT- Bumped approaching the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

BLUEY'S CHOICE- Bumped heavily on jumping before becoming awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied. Raced keenly for some distance leaving the 800m.

GEITZ- Bumped on jumping. Bumped approaching the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

RAPID READY- Trainer T Sears was severely reprimanded for negligence pursuant to AR227(a) in that he did have the gelding presented with the pre-race earmuffs under the bridle which could have led to a breach of AR206. Additionally, Mr Sears was severely reprimanded pursuant to LR44 for failing to provide a letter of authority for the meeting in his absence. Momentarily crowded approaching the 300m.

HALFACHANCE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be shin sore. Trainer B Hull advised the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell. Nonetheless, Mr Hull was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

NELSONS BAY- Bumped on jumping. App S Willis dropped her whip soon after entering the home straight.

Race 2: OAKEY PHARMACY MAIDEN HANDICAP         1000m

REVANTAS- Began awkwardly and bumped soon after before becoming awkwardly placed on heels. Bumped near the 300m. Raced greenly in the home straight.

TROUBLEATKINGSFORD- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey L Tilly advised that, in his opinion, being posted excessively wide without cover throughout the event was a telling factor in the geldings finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

KOBE ASCOT- Laid in under pressure down the running, shifting in away from another runner near the 100m.

GERALDINE'S WISH- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey K Yoshida advised that, in his opinion, being posted excessively wide without cover throughout the event was a telling factor in the geldings finishing efforts.

SOUTHAMPTON NICCO- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped heavily. Raced keenly in the early stages before shifting wider near the 700m before again becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after, consequently racing wide for the majority. Shifted out and away from heels near the 300m.

DESERT DAWN- Bumped heavily on jumping before shifting in and bumping again.

MIDNIGHT MIRACLE- Bumped near the 300m and shifted out. Jockey J Murphy advised that, in his opinion, the filly may be better suited to events over further distances. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Currie advised on 1 June that the mare had pulled up well and concurred with Jockey Murphys assessment, adding that the softer racing surface may also have been detrimental to the mares performance.

Race 3: HIGGINS COATINGS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1000m

HEROIC CHIEF- Steadied soon after the start to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Shifted out marginally and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after entering the home straight.

DRANG A TANG- Bumped on jumping. Laid out near the 400m. Shifted in marginally on entering the home straight momentarily hampering HEROIC CHIEF. App K Lenton advised that, in her opinion, the gelding is better suited to events over further distances. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Currie advised on 1 June pulled up well and the intention would be to continue with the geldings preparation.

ROSE NOIR- Crowded and taken in near the 800m.

INATICK- Laid in under pressure down the running.

ROWDASH- Shifted to the outside of heels leaving the 100m.

MOOD KILLER- Crowded near the 800m having to be further steadied. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight before shifting in near the 200m.

WANTSOMEMOREOFIT- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 4: NEWLANDS GROUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1200m

FIGHTING IDOL- Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m.

START STRUTTING- Laid in for the majority.

THAT'S AN EXTRA- Raced keenly near the 800m. Jockey L Tilley advised that, in his opinion, the mare did not appreciate the softer going. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

CHINCHILLA AHEAD- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight before being disappointed for a run approaching the 200m having to be steadied and shifted in. Stewards questioned the tactics adopted by App S Willis rounding the home turn and in the home straight particularly noting that, had she maintained her mounts running line rounding the home turn directly to the outside of FIGHTING IDOL she would not have been disappointed for the run approaching the 200m which that gelding had improved into. Additionally, that when held up on the heels of THAT’S AN EXTRA for a number of strides after entering the home straight, a run had presented to the outside of that runner prior to her directing her mount in and ultimately being disappointed for a run, and finally that after being disappointed for the run to the inside of THAT’S AN EXTRA she had shifted her mount in excessively to the inside running rail when an ample run was present between GALWAY HUSSLER which was racing on the fence and KINROSS LANE which was positioned four (4) wide passing the 100m. App Willis, in the presence of Senior rider J Murphy, acknowledged she had erred in her riding of the gelding on several occasions over the penultimate stages and concurred with Stewards assessment of the matter. Stewards intend review betting records for the event and to refer the matter to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training Team for further tuition and review.

DATA LEAK- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. App S Callow advised that, in her opinion, being caught wide was a telling factor in the performance though the gelding was nonetheless disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

KINROSS LANE- Began awkwardly and contacted the inside barrier petition.

Race 5: SUPERIOR HVAC SOLUTIONS MAIDEN PLATE      1625m

PREFER TO DANCE (NZ)- Trainer J Moore was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.

WORTHY ESSGEE- Laid in under pressure down the running.

SHOUTS ALL DAY- Trainer M Kropp was reprimanded pursuant for negligence pursuant to AR227(a) in that he did have the mare presented without the bubble cheeker which is part of the mares advertised gear.
