Race 1: TTC MEMBER MITCH WILSON MAIDEN HANDICAP         1300m

READY FOR THE TRIP- Bumped on jumping before bumping again soon after. Laid in under pressure down the running, momentarily crowding ELLES MY NAME near the 100m.
 
SHINING PROISIR (NZ)- Raced keenly in the back straight. Weakened from the 400m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps and a slow recovery.
 
PROPONENT- Crowded and bumped on jumping. Tailed off from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right-fore cannon consistent with being galloped on in running. Trainer Ms A Park was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
HEARTY HENRY- Raced keenly when crossed near the 1100m.
 
ELLES MY NAME- Bumped heavily soon after the start. Raced keenly when crossed near the 1100m. Momentarily crowded approaching the 100m.
 
ILEGITIMO- Slow to begin. Bumped leaving the 400m.
 
PEACH GALANTES- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALZURRI- Raced keenly in the early stages. Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 500m having to be steadied. Bumped leaving the 400m.
 
IMPOSING TIGER- Harmlessly dislodged Jockey R Payne in the preliminary, galloping a short distance before being recaptured. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 

Race 2: A LITTLE SWEETNESS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100m

HAZ STYLES- Bumped soon after the start. Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. App C Baker advised her mount had travelled well however, when placed under pressure failed to respond to her urgings and proved disappointing. Stable representative Mr M Dent advised that the stable were disappointed with the performance, having expected a forward showing, and undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition in the coming days.
 
LINTHORPE LUCK- Bumped soon after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer K Kemp was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
ROYAL EDITION- Bumped on jumping.
 
TARMAC- Trainer C Anderson was fined the sum of $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider, Stewards noted Mr Andersons good record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of the breach. Raced wide throughout. Bumped near the 900m.
 
COSMIC PROPORTIONS- Ridden conservatively in the early stages to assume a rearward position nearer the inside running rail.
 
ELEANOR NANCY- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance Trainer M Currie advised that, in his opinion, the filly was under-represented in the market having been working well leading into the event with the only obstacle the unfavorable barrier nonetheless, the stable had expected a forward showing.
 
IN GREAT SPIRIT- Crowded and bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly near the 600m.
 
MISHANI EMPIRE- Trainer D Stanbridge was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the filly. Began awkwardly.
 
SMACKEROONY- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily steadied from heels near the 800m.
 
AMORE SIRENA- Stewards permitted Jockey P Randall to be declared as rider of the filly 1kg over the allocated weight after the emergency had gained a place in the field and no other rider was available at the weight.
 
HEROIC BEACH- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BESIEGE- Bumped near the 900m. Raced keenly near the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 

Race 3: NEWLANDS GROUP QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP        1625m

SIR GOLDALOT- Forced wider near the 1400m and raced wide until the 900m.
 
EXTOL- Forced wider near the 1400m and raced wide for the majority. Raced keenly in the back straight. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
GALAXY SUNSET- Connections advised it would be the intention to have the gelding settle in a forward position as in its most recent start. Began awkwardly a settled at the rear of the field.
 
JUST WANT YOU BACK- Laid in under pressure down the running. App C Baker advised her mount felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
KING'S WARRIOR- Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start.
 
PROPOSE- Began awkwardly before being bumped and crowded. Held up for clear running between the 400m and 300m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
ROYAL GLADIATOR- Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey G Cartwright advised that, in her opinion, the gelding did not appreciate the undulating racing surface. Trainer D Hansen concurred with Jockey Cartwrights assessment noting the geldings poor performance at its only other outing at the track and further advised it would be the intention not to race the gelding at similar courses in future.
 
WHISKEY GLASSES- Bumped and crowded on jumping. Raced keenly and shifted wider near the 1400m.
 
GREAT ANGLES- Began awkwardly and bumped. Forced wider near the 1400m and raced wide for the majority. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
YES I'M UGLY- App R Thorburn was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance on the gelding. App Thorburn was further reminded of his obligations pursuant to AR131(b) to ensure he fully tests his mounts to the conclusion of the race.
 
AS EXPECTED- Bumped on jumping. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 4: SAFETY AUDITING WELLBEING SERVICES BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1625m

KNEZE- Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly away from the heels near the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
AMENOPHIS- Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps and a slow recovery.
 
CHASING JACKLEY- Raced keenly near the 1400m. Awkwardly placed on heels and steadied near the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running. When asked to comment on the performance Trainer T Sweeney advised that, in his opinion, a more favorable run in transit compared to its most recent start was a telling factor, adding further that the gelding had been working well and the stable had expected a forward showing, supporting the gelding with bookmakers.
 
CLUSTER'S REIN- Jockey C Taylor advised that, his saddle had slipped on jumping placing him at a slight disadvantage throughout.
 
EARL OF DEVON (NZ)- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Shied at a shadow near the 600m and shifted out abruptly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps. Trainer M Currie advised connections would consider the geldings immediate racing future with mind to a spell.
 
MOOTESSA- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after jumping and was steadied. Raced keenly near the 1400m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ONOMATOPOEIA- Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BAVARIAN LADY- Raced keenly near the 1400m.
 
IRISH SALLY- Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
STRUAN LAD- Bumped heavily on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 

Race 5: PRYDE'S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1000m

The start of the event was delayed when App S Willis lost her irons en route to the barrier and CABRINELLA subsequently took charge and galloped a significant distance. CABRINELLA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:05pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 3:05pm:
 
10cents in the dollar for the win
10cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
13cents in the dollar for 2nd place
11cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Given the circumstances, Stewards deemed no further action was necessary.
 
The start was further delayed when MISHANI STORM became fractious in the barrier and reared over becoming cast. MISHANI STORM, BULSARA & PUNGO underwent subsequent veterinary examinations with MISHANI STORM and BULSARA both being declared late scratchings on veterinary advice at 3:09pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on both MISHANI STORM and BULSARA were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 3:09pm:

11cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
12cents in the dollar for 2nd place
12cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer Ms D Stanbridge was advised MISHANI STORM would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
AKAKA FALLS- Bumped near the 400m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
UNCLE RUSS- Raced keenly in the early stages. App F Sandkuhl was dislodged near the 1500m crossing after the completion of the event. App Sandkuhl was tendered to by QAS officers and stood down from her remaining engagements due to a shoulder injury. App Sandkuhl was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride. Replacements were made as per Stewards race-day summary.
 
PUNGO (NZ)- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit. Shifted out to improve and bumped near the 400m.
 
KERNEL BOOM- Fractious in the barrier and was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: REFINED REFRIGERATION SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1300m

PRINCE OF SOOVIEW- Blundered soon after the start. Shifted in near the 900m when not fully clear of LA MANO, crowding that runner in onto CRACKER ESSGEE. App S Callow was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Shifted in when insufficiently clear of CRACKER ESSGEE near the 800m, obliging that runner to be restrained, before shifting back out soon after. App S Callow was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards noted App Callows good recent record in relation to the rule as well as the racing manners of CRACKER ESSGEE which were deemed to have exacerbated the interference somewhat.
 
CRACKER ESSGEE- Bumped and crowded approaching the 900m. Obliged to restrain from heels near the 800m.
 
TREASURER- Shifted out away from heels near the 1100m. Shifted in when not fully clear of OPITO BALLERINA near the 1000m. Jockey G Cartwright was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Bumped near the 700m and again near the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TRAUTMAN- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out.
 
KATDEEL- Raced keenly in the back straight. Bumped approaching the 1000m. Bumped near the 700m and again near the 600m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
LA MANO- Raced keenly in the back straight. Bumped approaching the 900m before being crowded and momentarily steadied. Raced wide for the majority. Following the running of this event App S Willis became unwell and was unable to fulfil her remaining engagement. Replacements were made as per Stewards race-day summary and App Willis was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride.
 
OPITO BALLERINA (NZ)- Bumped approaching the 1000m. Obliged to steady from heels near the 1000m. Finished significantly tailed off. On returning to the tie-ups reared over and collapsed before undergoing an immediate veterinary examination which identified the mare to be deceased as a result of a suspected significant cardiac event. Post-mortem samples were collected for analysis and the remains transported to the University of Queensland for further examination.
 
 
Race 7: THE VIOLET LITTLE MEMORIAL CUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP       1200m

BIG BOY GEORGE- Became awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied near the 950m. Raced keenly on heels near the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
RYLOV- Raced keenly when crossed leaving the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
JACKS AND SODA- Shifted out near the 950m inconveniencing BIG BOY GEORGE. Jockey K Yoshida was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
SCRIPT WRITER- Raced wide for the majority.
 
GRAND CRUSADER- Became awkwardly placed on heels when racing keenly, having to be steadied near the 950m.
 
DANNY'S BOY- Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running approaching the 400m.
 
HORSBURGH- Jockey C Taylor reported the gelding had made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
MIGRATORY- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
IMPERIONESS- Raced wide for the majority.
 
DOUBLESHARKATTACK- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start and had to be steadied.
