GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting:
 
Race 6- Jockey C Taylor +1/2kg
Race 7- Jockey M Schrapel +1kg
 

Race 1: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300m

ELLA TE AMA- Began awkwardly. App K Lenton advised that, in her opinion, the did not appreciate the step back in distance from last start or the heavy weight impost. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
ARCHER'S GAME- Buffeted on jumping. Raced keenly when crossed near the 950m. Held up for clear running between the 200m-100m.
 
BAUHINIA ROCK- Bumped and became unbalanced on jumping. App Z Sprie was reminded of his obligations pursuant to AR131(b) to ride his mounts fully to the end of the event.
 
BEAN DANCING- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ELECTED (IRE)- When asked to comment on the performance Jockey C Whitely was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than the gelding proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting mild signs of tying up.
 
START STRUTTING- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly on heels near the 700m. Held up for clear running from the 400m until being shifted wider near the 200m and having to shift out further across heels near the 150m.  Laid in under pressure over the concluding.
 
DARK SKIES- As the tongue tie became dislodged in the preliminary, was re-fitted at the barriers. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the right-hind fetlock.
 
CHINCHILLA AHEAD- Bumped and became unbalanced on jumping. Raced keenly in the back straight. Settled further forward than may have been expected after beginning well from the wide barrier.
 
RINGER'S REWARD- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 

Race 2: WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE MAIDEN HANDICAP   1625m

AOOM'S CHOICE- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
AUTUMN SALUTE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
PROCLAIMER- Tightened and restrained near the 1400m. Raced keenly on heels near the 1600m. Trainer J Thomas advised that, in his opinion, the gelding is better suited to softer racing surfaces.
 
ROTHWEILER- Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward from the 1300m and settling into a position outside of the leader near the 1100m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
SUNSHINE SALLY- Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 1500m tightening the running of IMPOSING TIGER and PROCLAIMER which was restrained. App K Lenton was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of ths incident. In considering the matter, Stewards noted the racing manners of SUNSHINE SALLY which were deemed to be a contributing factor in the incident nonetheless, App Lenton was advised to make all efforts to prevent her mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Raced keenly on heels near the 600m.
 
IMPOSING TIGER- Crowded near the 1400m. Tailed off from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the right-hind fetlock. Trainer B Brown advised that the gelding would now be retired. Nonetheless, Mr Brown was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result of the performance.
 
LIPSTICK LIES- Raced keenly near the 1300m.
 

Race 3: SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100m

KRUMAC- Raced keenly on heels near the 900m.
 
STIKTODASCRYPT- Raced keenly near the 900m and again near the 600m. Raced greenly under pressure down the running.
 
TWO MINDS- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in marginally near the 900m and bumped. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
WINDSOR ROAD- As app S Champkin was not riding due to illness, rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. App Champkin was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again. Slow to begin.
 
DUBBLE HUSSLE- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
LETTIE'S LOT- Began awkwardly before being crowded, becoming awkwardly placed on heels and blundering.
 
MISS LEANA- Was presented to the mounting yard without the tongue tie with that piece of gear being fitted at the barrier. Trainer M Nolan was reprimanded for negligence pursuant to AR227(a) as a result. Bounded in the air as the start was effected. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. On returning to the mounting yard App C Baker was examined by QAS officers after striking her head on the barrier petition on exiting the barrier and cleared fit to fulfil her engagements.
 
PACIERA- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey C Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out for the final three (3) strides of the event consequently costing the filly 3rd placing. Jockey Bayliss’ license was subsequently suspended for a period of 12days to commence 15 June up to and including 26 June 2025. In considering the matter Stewards considered Jockey Bayliss’ guilty plea and forthright evidence as well as the QRIC penalty guidelines. Jockey Bayliss was advised of his right to an appeal.
 
SHEZA BARBAROSSA- Contacted a gate post en route to the barrier. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barrier and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly, bumped and became unbalanced. Bumped and became unbalanced near the 900m.
 

Race 4: RDO EQUIPMENT CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1000m

MY NAME IS (NZ)- Shied at a shadow near the 600m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
I AM CAVIAR- Began awkwardly. Following the running of this event App C Baker advised that she was feeling unwell and was tendered to by QAS officers and subsequently stood down under the QRIC concussion protocol as a result of exhibiting concussion symptoms. App Baker was advised of the concussion protocol procedures and that she would require a cognitive assessment prior to race riding again. Rider changes were made as per Stewards race day summary.
 
DRANG A TANG- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
GOT GUMPTION- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MOOD KILLER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly on heels near the 600m, continued to race keenly for some distance after. Raced wide for the majority.
 
HEAVENLY AZ- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly near the 900m. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SUTHERLAND- Laid out near the 600m.
 

Race 5: SELECTED SEEDS MAIDEN PLATE         1000m

RED TOFFEE- Bumped on jumping. Laid out rounding the home turn. After beginning well and settling into a wide forward position was ridden positively to find the lead nearer the inside running rail leaving the 800m.
 
WARILLA GORILLA- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
WHITTAKER- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
CAPIANA- Bumped on jumping.
 
GOODFELLA FINCH- Raced keenly near the 900m. Laid in, proving somewhat difficult to ride out in the home straight.
 
LUCKY MAN- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Laid in near the 500m.
 
BRONZE MEMORY- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped before becoming awkwardly placed on heels and having to be steadied. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
MHASAHN- Buffeted on jumping.
 
LADY LAZARUS- Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
DENMAN AVENUE- Bumped on jumping.
 

Race 6: THE MCGREGOR BROTHERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1200m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider an objection lodged by connections 2nd placegetter DUBIOUS SIX against ULUWATU being declared the winner citing interference over the final 150m. After reviewing the patrol footage and considering the evidence provided by the riders and Trainers, Stewards determined that when ULUWATU and DUBIOUS SIX raced in clos proximity near the 150m, neither interfered with the other as both riders were obliged to correct their mounts to prevent further interference being caused to WANTSOMEMOREOFIT. Also, when bother runners were again racing in close proximity over the concluding stages again no interference occurred. As such Stewards dismissed the protest and order correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
ULUWATU- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly near the 600m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, inconveniencing WANTSOMEMOREOFIT near the 150m. App C Collis was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
 
HORSBURGH- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running, having to be corrected near the 200m, before continuing to lay in, bumping with PACIFIC PIRATE near the 50m hampering that runner. Jockey C Bayliss was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
 
DUBIOUS SIX- Began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 700m. Laid in near the 150m inconveniencing WANTSOMEMOREOFIT. App K Lenton was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
WANTSOMEMOREOFIT- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly near the 700m. Inconvenienced and obliged to restrain near the 150m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PACIFIC PIRATE- Bumped and hampered near the 50m.
 
RED VODKA- Stood flat footed as the start was effected. Trainer H Schwenke was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result. Raced wide from the 700m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
BUN IN THE OVEN- Jockey b Andrew was permitted by Stewards as substitute rider when no other apprentice rider was available. Shifted in leaving the 600m crowding MEDIA GEM. Jockey B Andrew was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
DUCHESS BREE- Bumped on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after having to be steadied. When queried regarding the tactics App S Willis advised instructions had been to take up a rearward position as is the mares racing pattern, however after incurring some interference on jumping had settled further back than intended. Trainer S Murdoch corroborated the instructions however noted she had expected, and would have preferred, the mare to have settled closer to the body of the field. Stewards noted the comments and reminded App Willis of her obligation to ensure her riding is always beyond reproach or question. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
MEDIA GEM- Raced keenly near the 700m. Crowded and obliged to steady leaving the 600m. Laid out under pressure down the running, becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 200m.
 

Race 7: LAWRENCE & HANSON BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1890m

KNEZE- Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted in leaving the 400m when not fully clear of SHOUTS ALL DAY. App C Krahnen was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
 
MALECON- Raced keenly having to be shifted wider near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
SWIPER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SHOUTS ALL DAY- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly for the majority. Crowded and obliged to momentarily steady from heels leaving the 400m.
 
SWIFT SON- Bumped on jumping.
 
BRIGHT THE SUN- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 300m.
 
MARTINI DANCER- Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ON THE TIGHTROPE- Connections advised it would be the intention for the gelding to be ridden on pace should circumstances permit. Slow to begin before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Tailed off from the 600m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J Whitaker advised it would now be the intention to retire the gelding. Nonetheless, Ms Whitaker was advised the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
MAURITA- After being posted wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and settle into a leading position nearer the inside running rail near the 1100m.
 
WINSTON BLUE- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
