GENERAL
As Apprentice Z. Sprie was ill and did not attend todays meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Apprentice Sprie was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to next riding.
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today's meeting:
Race 1 – ROTH’S ROMANCE – N. Fazackerley +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 1: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
The start of this race was delayed when MINGELA refused to load. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MINGELA be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st I’M LUCKY TWO – 58c the win, 42c the place
2nd OVER DRAFT – 17c the place
3rd MISHANI MOET – 42c the place
Trainer T. Gollan was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
HELL TO THE LINE – When marginally slow away, became awkwardly placed on heels, had to be steadied and lost ground. Trailed the field for the majority.
OVER DRAFT – Began awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped.
VIPER ROOM – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
FAR CRY – Bumped on jumping.
GLOBAL CURRENCY – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
LUSTFUL BELLE – Bumped on jumping.
MISHANI MOET – Began awkwardly, shifted out and was bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ROTH'S ROMANCE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RICHBOY HARRY – Bumped on jumping.
Race 2: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
HEROIC BEACH – Laid in approaching the 400m. Bumped with BESIEGE leaving the 400m.
REVANTAS – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting wider on entering the home straight, consequently bumping with HEROIC BEACH before having to be shifted back in and then being disappointed for a run and having to be steadied. Continued to be held up for clear running until shifting out leaving the 100m.
STABILIZER – Raced keenly near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority.
IMMINENT BOOM – Bumped on jumping.
CALL GIRL – Over raced whilst laying in near the 1000m. Laid in approaching the 700m. Apprentice C. Baker reported her mount raced greenly.
BITUNG – Near the 750m, improved onto heels and shifted in.
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Momentarily steadied when crowded for room leaving the 100m.
LADY LAZARUS – Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 750 and was steadied.
MIDNIGHT MIRACLE – As Apprentice B. Wheeler had transportation difficulties, Stewards permitted Apprentice S. Willis be substituted as the rider of the filly.
FOOLSAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BESIEGE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority. Bumped with HEROIC BEACH leaving the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SOUTHAMPTON NICCO – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Caught wide in the early stages before being ridden forward from the 1000m to obtain the leading position near the 700m.
LUCKY MAN – Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 150m and near the 200m, improved onto heels and was momentarily steadied.
Race 3: MNP SECURITY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
WANT TO BE PROUD – Raced wide for the majority.
HASANA – Raced wide for the majority.
KOBE ASCOT – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Near the 200m, bumped and taken wider, becoming awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AIR OF AUTHORITY – Bumped on jumping. Near the 900m became momentarily awkward on heels.
SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SHE'S ALL AMBERS – Bumped with NEWELL BEACH near the 1100m.
WHITTAKER – Near the 900m, laid out and became momentarily awkward on heels. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer D. Handford advised that the stable had expected an improved showing stepping up from the 1000m in the geldings most recent outing. Adding that further improvement would be expected over additional ground.
NEWELL BEACH – Bumped on jumping. Bumped with SHE’S ALL AMBERS near the 1100m. Near the 800m was momentarily crowded for room.
ONATARE – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from the 400m until soon after entering the home straight. Approaching the 200m, shifted out and bumped KOBE ASCOT.
WORLDY SPIRIT – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
JEDIAH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping and then shortly after the start became awkwardly placed on heels and had to be steadied. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 200m.
BEHIND THE SCENES – Steadied near the 150m to avoid improving into a doubtful run to the inside of HAD BEAN.
Race 4: CARPET ONE CLASS 1 PLATE 2150m
ARTZINO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Huxtable reported his mount may be better suited to races over a shorter distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
FIRE AND LIGHT – Laid out leaving the 300m and bumped with VERMILION KIRIN. Jockey J. Bayliss reported it was not his intention to lead however, after beginning well, settled into an easy lead and travelled comfortably in that position throughout.
GIRRAMAY – Bumped on jumping. Placed under pressure from the 900m and commenced to give ground shortly after and finished significantly tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Hill was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
SAMURAI WARRIOR (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Caught wide in the early stages, before being ridden forward to obtain the leading position near the 1400m.
VERMILION KIRIN – Bumped by FIRE AND LIGHT leaving the 300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly near the 1500m. Apprentice E. Lang reported her mount travelled well however, when placed under pressure, failed to respond to her urgings and wasn’t pressured in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that the mare would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
BRIGHT THE SUN – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 350m.
BOLERO – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 5: 1EQUINE - FOR THE EQUINE ATHLETE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 870m
AKAKA FALLS – Slow into stride.
UNO MOON – Raced wide for the majority.
BIOGRAPHER – Bumped on jumping. Laid out near the 700m.
ISLAND TIDE – Raced wide for the majority. Taken wider rounding the home turn.
RAN NA LADY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
HARD LANDING – Laid out rounding the home turn taking ISLAND TIDE wider.
Race 6: COOPER COMMERCIAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1625m
TRAUTMAN – Slow to begin.
MAPLE DOOR – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MOOTESSA – Bumped by SHOUTS ALL DAY near the 1500m. Raced keenly in the back straight. Apprentice J. Metcalfe dropped her whip near the 300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BAVARIAN LADY – Caught wide in the early stages, before being ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m.
SHOUTS ALL DAY – Slow into stride. Shifted out near the 1500m and bumped MOOTESSA. Over raced near the 1300m and continued to race keenly in the back straight. Held up for a short distance approaching the 400m. Shifted in abruptly despite the efforts near the 200m, momentarily hampering MEKANIC. Continued to lay in from that point onward.
MEKANIC – Momentarily hampered near the 200m. Jockey J. Molloy pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 14 in totality. Jockey Molloy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence 29th June up to and including 5th July 2025. In considering the matter Stewards noted the QRIC penalty guidelines, Jockey Molloys guilty plea and forthright evidence as well as his record in relation to the rule.
FORT WILLIAM – Began awkwardly.
IRISH SALLY – Began awkwardly, shifted in at the start and bumped MAPLE DOOR. Held up for a short distance approaching the 400m.
Race 7: PRYDE'S EASIFEED FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
GALEKA – Bumped shortly after the start with CONSTANT CAFÉ.
HUSS ON FIRST – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LADY SOAMES – Laid out whilst racing keenly leaving the 900m.
CONSTANT CAFÉ – Bumped shortly after the start with GALEKA. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out away from heels approaching the winning post.
RUBYDOO – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and bumped with LITTLE SPARK near the 200m.
KELANOA – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey R. Dolan reported his mount didn’t appreciate the shifty track.
FREEMAN – Began awkwardly.
MISHANI SUSPECT – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages, momentarily hampering CONSTANT CAFÉ. Apprentice T. Orr was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
INTRECCIATO – Began very awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages whilst being restrained to obtain a rearward position closer to the rail. Improved onto heels near the 50m and had to be steadied.
LITTLE SPARK – Raced wide for the majority. Laid out under pressure in the home straight and bumped with RUBYDOO near the 200m.
BLERIOT – Bumped on jumping.
Race 8: BROWN FAMILY WINE GROUP COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
START STRUTTING – Raced wide for the majority. Bumped near the 700m by REGGIE’S FOLLOY. Bumped and forced wider near the 300m. Bumped with REGGIE’S FOLLOY leaving the 200m.
COINCIDE – Momentarily awkward on heels shortly after the start.
HAYSIRI – Began awkwardly.
BIG BOY GEORGE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
BEARHUG – Momentarily awkward on heels shortly after the start.
NORTH COURT – Shifted in when not clear approaching the 200m. Jockey M. Savva was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
REGGIE'S FOLLY – Near the 700m, shifted wider and bumped with START STRUTTING. Stewards addressed Jockey Molloy advisedly in regard to his riding, particularly the elevation of his elbow in the vicinity of jockey Yoshida when attempting to shift wider near the 700m and strongly advised he ensures his riding in such circumstances is always beyond reproach. Shifted wider passing the 300m bumping with START STRUTTING, forcing that runner wider on the track. Jockey J. Molloy was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. In considering the matter Stewards deemed Jockey Molloys outward shift at that time of the incident to be excessive. Bumped with START STRUTTING leaving the 200m. Jockey J. Molloy pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 13 in totality. Jockey Molloy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to be served concurrently with his suspension incurred in race 6, commencing 29th June up to and including 6th July 2025. In considering the matter Stewards determined that the repetitious nature of the offending warranted a cumulative aspect however, were mindful of the limited nature of the overall whip use in each instance.
DATA LEAK – Near the 800m, momentarily crowded. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LUPINE (NZ) – Dwelt in the barrier. Bumped the inside running rail leaving the 600m. Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied and shifted wider. Laid in approaching the winning post.
