SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

7 August 2025 - Stewards opened an inquiry into the nomination, acceptance and scratching of KICK AND RUN (Race 7). After taking evidence from trainer C. Zintilis and owner D. Griffiths, the matter was adjourned.


GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today's meeting:

Race 3 – MINI VEGAS – N. Fazackerley +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 6 – BOOM BY BY – C. Bayliss +1kg (55kg)

Race 2 - Trainer G. Richardson was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider for RUMI STAR by the prescribed time.

Race 6 - Trainer J. Hanna was fined $100 under the provisions of AR227(a) for negligently failing to request a kilogram overweight by the prescribed time for jockey C. Bayliss on BOOM BY BY.




RACE 1: COOPER COMMERCIAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300 M

SHAKE'N'BAKE – Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m was bumped and became unbalanced. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice K. Lenton stated that the gelding being caught wide had a detrimental effect on the performance. K. Lenton further added the gelding would take fitness benefit from today’s race and would be more suited to a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities.

BEARHUG – Stewards accepted trainer K. Kemp’s explanation for the late declaration of rider. Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m, was held up for clear running, before shifting out and in doing so bumped SHAKE’N’BAKE, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.

TOKYO BANDIT – Rider J. Molloy dropped his whip near the 200m.

CHANGE THE DEEL – Travelled wide throughout. Apprentice O. Webb reported the gelding over raced throughout the event.

PHYSICIST – Stewards accepted trainer P. Sexton’s explanation for the late declaration of rider. Approaching the 200m Apprentice J. Metcalfe dropped her whip and near side reign, and when whilst attempting to regather, PHYSICIST shifted in taking DROP THE PILOT inwards before J. Metcalfe regained the use of her rain and straightened her mount. Stewards reminded apprentice J. Metcalfe to exercise more care.

DANNY'S BOY – Approaching the 600m was disappointed for a run when attempting to shift out to improve.

DROP THE PILOT – As apprentice R. Thorburn was unable to arrive in time due to transport issues, and there being no other apprentice available, stewards permitted H. Richardson as the replacement rider. Lost the off fore plate.


RACE 2: SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M

THE GREY – Apprentice J. Metcalfe reported her mount was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

BEE TWO – Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m was momentarily steadied when THE LOUVRE shifted out to improve.

MISS MOSCATO – Raced wide throughout.

ADDICTIVE PIRANHA - When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice S. Willis stated she was obliged to race wide and felt this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. S Willis added that the mare did not want to stretch out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities.

LITTLE SPARK – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Near the 800m was momentarily steadied when BEE TWO shifted in, THE LOUVRE which was racing to the inside was momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room.

HUMAN TOUCH – Began awkwardly and lost ground

SAVVY SONG – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the turn near the 700m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 200m. Held up for clear running from the 100m before shifting out over the concluding stages.


RACE 3: EMPIRE OF JAPAN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M


RUTHVEN RUSH – Bumped near the 200m. When asked to comment on the performance apprentice S. Callow, stated the gelding travelled comfortably throughout, however failed to respond to her riding in the home straight and was disappointing.

LADY BARBAROSSA – Bumped at the start.

MINNIE VEGAS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed to race. Began awkwardly and then tightened for room and lost ground when ASPEN COWBOY shifted out.

MISS LEANA – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice O. Webb stated that her instructions were to ride forward from the wide barrier and lead. She added when runners to her inside improved and held their position in the early stages, she was obliged to race wide. O. Webb further stated the filly travelled well until the 500m, and when put under pressure failed to respond to her riding. Trainer M. Nolan confirmed the instructions, adding that considering today’s performance, he would be sending the filly for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities.

TUESDAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and near the 200m bumped RUTHVEN RUSH.

LITTLE MISS BOOM – Raced three wide throughout the event. Approaching the 300m was momentarily steadied when tightened for room between TUESDAY and RUTHVEN RUSH, which shifted out to improve. Apprentice S. Callow (RUTHVEN RUSH) was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to take greater care in future circumstances. Momentarily steadied near the 250m when ASPEN COWBOY shifted out.

ASPEN COWBOY – Shifted out at the start, tightening MINNIE VEGAS, which in turn bumped LADY BARBAROSSA. Rounding the home turn shifted out to obtain clear running, before improving onto the heels of MISS LEANA which was weakening near the 250m and having to be checked, then further shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of RUTHVEN RUSH. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages. Apprentice J. Metcalfe reported her mount raced greenly throughout the event.

EINSTAG – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m made contact with the running rail.


RACE 4: WAGNER CIVIL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M

HE DA BOSS – Trainer S. Croxford was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barriers manners after proving difficult to load. Laid out under pressure in the home straight and approaching the 100m and had to be restrained from the heels of MALBEC MAN, and when being corrected, laid in and had to be steadied from the heels of POWERFUL WARRIOR.

LOVE TO BE PROUD – Hampered and lost ground at the start.

MALBEC MAN – Approaching the 400m shifted out to improve and bumped CORVALIST. Laid out rounding the home turn. Was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 100m.

POWERFUL WARRIOR – Began awkwardly and shifted out and hampered LOVE TO BE PROUD. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 750m improved onto the heels of HE DA BOSS and had to be steadied. Near the 350m steadied from the heels of HE DA BOSS which shifted in. Apprentice S. Willis (HE DA BOSS) was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to take greater care in future.

CORVALIST – Raced wide throughout without cover. Bumped approaching the 400m. Apprentice O. Webb reported her mount travelled well until the 500m, however when obliged to place the gelding under pressure it failed to respond to her riding. She further added her mount failed to handle the track conditions.

DON'T STOP ME NOW – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Laid in approaching the 100m had to be checked from the heels of HE DA BOSS which shifted out.


RACE 5: SOUTHERN CROSS SHEDS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300 M

TARA JASMINE – Slow to begin. Approaching and rounding the home turn was forced to race wider when LAST CHANCE SALOON shifted out to improve.

DRANG A TANG – Obliged to race wide when travelling keenly in the early stages, before being restrained to obtain cover near the 850m.

THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.

LAST CHANCE SALOON – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

SUKHBIR – Near the 1200m bumped LE MANO.

TAKE A PICTURE – Approaching and rounding the home turn, was forced wider on the track when THE DEPUTY shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey N. Fazackerley reported the gelding was first up today, adding that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however weakened in the home straight and in his opinion would take benefit from today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities.

LA MANO – Bumped near the 1200m.


RACE 6: KENNARDS HIRE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1625 M

MALECON – Lost the near hind plate.

MISTER SELFIE – Raced keenly in the early stages and shifted wider to avoid the heels of BOOM BY BY near the 1200m, was then obliged to race wide before being restrained to obtain cover near the 900m. Momentarily steadied off heels leaving the 600m. Disappointed for a run near the 200m between MALECON and RUMBLING AWAY which shifted out. Apprentice C. Baker (RUMBLING AWAY) was advised to exercise greater care. Held up for clear running until near the 100m.

SHOUTS ALL DAY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 600m improved onto the heels of MALECON, before shifting out

VANCITY – Began awkwardly

BOOM BY BY - A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities.


RACE 7: 1EQUINE - FOR THE EQUINE ATHLETE CLASS 1 PLATE 2150 M

O'CALDINO – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Molloy stated that after being slow to begin he allowed his mount to stride and obtain a forward position outside the leader BOLERO near the 1500m. He added that due to the tempo of the race, he did not feel it was advantageous to pressure his mount to obtain the lead and added the gelding raced keenly in the middle stages. He further added his mount was under pressure from the 600m and failed to respond to his riding.

SOMETHIN IN ORANGE – Bumped on jumping. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

BITUNG – Fractious in the barriers prior to start. Slow to begin. Jockey C. Bayliss reported his mount never travelled comfortably throughout the race and failed to respond to his riding from the 1000m. He further added the mare may not have backed up from its previous start on 2 August, and in his opinion may not have been suited to today’s step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal an apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the following days.

KATERINI – When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer S. Croxford stated that the mare’s previous three starts had been on significantly rain effected tracks, in particular the most recent start on the 2 August when racing on a Heavy 9 surface, which KATERINI was not suited to. Ms Croxford added that tonight’s improved track conditions along with a step up in distance was to the benefit of the mare and that she was confident of an improved performance.

LILICA EBET – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1400m when racing keenly, was steadied from the heels of KATERINI.

BAMBINO DI VINO – Raced keen in the early stages. Near the 1600m was checked. At a subsequent inquiry stewards found that BAMBINO DI VINO which was racing keenly and proving difficult to ride when being restrained by apprentice S. Callow, was checked from the heels of O’CALDINO, which shifted in when not fully clear. Steward’s in considering the matter, were mindful of the evidence of apprentice S. Callow regarding the racing manners of BAMBINO DI, however reprimanded rider J. Molloy for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
