GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights at tonights meeting:
Race 4- Jockey M Schrapel +1kg
RACE 1: EMPIRE OF JAPAN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
CRYPTOLINI- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, inclusive of blood samples, and was passed fit to start.
I CAN HELP- Crowded on jumping and bumped. Raced wide for the majority.
KELPUM'S KEEPER- Crowded soon after the start and was buffeted. Laid in under pressure down the running.
MAFIOSA- Laid in approaching the 100m, brushed the inside running rail slightly with its hindquarters and became ungenerous in its action before becoming extremely unbalanced and was checked. Trainer N Beck was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
NATURALLY LIT- Crowded soon after the start and was buffeted. Raced keenly near the 900m.
PIE CHART- Commenced to buck soon after the start and continued to do so for some distance, taking no competitive part in the race. Trainer P Webster was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
LADY BARBAROSSA- Bumped soon after the start. Laid in approaching the 100m.
SPIRITOF THE OCEAN- Shifted out and bumped on jumping.
TUESDAY- Laid out near the 900m.
RACE 2: VISION HEALTH BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1300m
DOWNEY- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out in an effort to improve and bumped near the 350m, was unable to secure clear running and shifted back in on entering the home straight. Shifted in and bumped the inside running rail near the 150m.
TAKE A PICTURE- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly and wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
CHINCHILLA AHEAD- Shifted in near the 1200m when not fully clear of MAGIC ISLAND. Jockey L Tilley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
KAMARIYA- Bumped near the 1000m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. App C Wells advised that her mount travelled well until the 500m and once placed under pressure failed to respond to her urgings. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
MAGIC ISLAND- Bumped on jumping. Hampered near the 1200m. Bumped near the 350m.
GREY NORTHERN (NZ)- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
BESIEGE- Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover nearer the inside running rail. Raced three-wide with cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
RACE 3: TOTAL WELLNESS MASSAGE CLASS 1 PLATE 1000m
MUSSEL LINES- Jockey P Hamblin advised his mount was unable to maintain a position within the field due to the fast tempo but his mount was able to finish off well. Obliged to shift out around heels to improve approaching the 200m.
MY SICADA- Difficult to load and delayed the start. Trainer G Banks was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Bumped approaching the 600m before being bumped heavily soon after and becoming momentarily unbalanced. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a mildly slow post-race recovery.
THE GREY- Bumped soon after the start before laying in and bumping again. Bumped approaching the 600m, shifted out and bumped before being buffeted and bumping heavily becoming momentarily unbalanced. Bumped passing the 300m before being crowded soon after.
TOUTE SWEET- Bumped on the hindquarters approaching the winning post.
VIACONI- Bumped soon after the start before laying in and bumping again when being crowded. Shifted out marginally and bumped on two occasions approaching the 600m.
WISE CHOICE- Bumped soon after the start before laying in and bumping again soon after. Bumped approaching the 600m, shifted out and bumped again before being buffeted and bumped heavily becoming unbalanced. Laid in and bumped passing the 300m and continued to lay in despite the efforts of its rider and crowded THE GREY. Laid in under pressure down the running, bumping with the hindquarters of TOUTE SWEET approaching the winning post, despite the efforts of its rider.
SWEET HESITATION- Bumped on two occasions soon after the start.
RACE 4: LOCALSEARCH BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1625m
RUMBLING AWAY- Momentarily hampered near the 50m.
WEST CORK- Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer M Faulkner was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Raced keenly near the 1300m. Raced wide for the majority.
RINGER'S REWARD- Raced keenly in the back straight. Forced three-wide from the 1100m.
DANNY'S BOY- Raced keenly in the back straight. Laid in under pressure down the running, momentarily hampering RUMBLIUNG AWAY near the 50m. Jockey H Richardson was advised to exercise greater care and to stop and straighten her mounts sooner in similar circumstances. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-fore. Trainer S Croxford was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
RACE 5: PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100m
SIR SNACKALOT- Began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
SKELDERGATE- Slow to begin before being awkwardly placed on heels and momentarily steadied. Steadied from heels near the 1000m. Raced greenly under pressure down the running. Lost an off-fore plate in running.
HE DA BOSS- Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped leaving the 1000m. Shifted in marginally away from heels near the 800m.
FUTURE SOLDIER- Bumped soon after. Bumped leaving the 1000m.
DECORATIVE- Began awkwardly. Shifted in when not fully clear of SKELDERGATE near the 1000m. Jockey L Tilley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
BODYSWERVE- Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority.
ITALIAN GIRL- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped soon after the start. Buffeted leaving the 1000m.
OKANUI- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 6: GERRY BROWN'S SHELVING & STORAGE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1100m
BIOGRAPHER- Raced keenly in the back straight when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Commenced to over-race near the 800m and continued to do so for some distance thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bilateral epistaxis. This being the first such occasion Trainer M Currie was advised of the provisions of AR79.
BEAU WITNESS- Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
UNCOMMON VALOUR- After beginning on terms was unable to muster the necessary speed to maintain its position and trailed the field throughout.
RACE 7: SOUTHERN CROSS SHEDS MAIDEN PLATE 2000m
AIR OF AUTHORITY- Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped near the 250m. Crowded and bumped leaving the 200m.
ALZURRI- App C Baker advised her saddle slipped placing her at a slight disadvantage for a short distance after jumping.
BAD BOY BOONE- Raced keenly near the 1600m.
I'M THAT GUY (NZ)- raced keenly in the early stages.
PREFER TO DANCE (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 250m. Bumped leaving the 200m.
SALLY'S KATO- Raced wide until the 900m.
CUT DIAMONDS- Raced keenly in the back straight. Bumped leaving the 200m.
MAN TALK- Fractious in the barrier. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 8:18pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 8:18pm:

29cents in the dollar for the place
Trainer N Beck was advised the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
SAKURA MAGIC (NZ)- App J Metcalfe advised that her saddle slipped on jumping placing her at a disadvantage for a majority of the event.
STELLA SIMONE- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Hung-out throughout the event and was unable to be tested in the home straight. Trainer D Knight was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
