CONCESSION - Near the 100m rider had to take action and shift in and away from the riderless DUBIOUS SIX which shifted in, I’M LUCKY TWO which was following had to alter course and shift out around CONCESSION to obtain clear running. Cast the off fore plate in running.
DUBIOUS SIX – Began awkwardly resulting in apprentice K. Lenton becoming extremely unbalanced and being dislodged as short distance later. K. Lenton sustained a harmless fall and walked unaided from the track. K. Lenton was examined by QAS officers and was subsequently cleared to continue riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the geldings off-hind leg.
I'M LUCKY TWO – Near the 150m shifted to the inside of CONCESSION when that runner shifted out, a short distance later had to alter course and shift out around CONCESSION to obtain clear running.
CHILPUR – Required to be re-saddled behind the barriers. Rider G. Cartwright advised that while she was able to lead as per her instructions, she was required to pressure the mare early and this may have had an effect as CHILPUR was under pressure from the 400m and failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slight laceration to the mare’s mouth otherwise no apparent abnormalities were detected.
SILVER GLITTER - Required to be re-saddled behind the barriers. Slow to begin and then a short distance later was checked and lost considerable ground when the riderless DUBIOUS SIX shifted in.

Near the 550m was disappointed for a run when CAN’T GETWHATIWANT laid in and as a result had to be steadied from the heels of ZA HIDDEN DRAGON. When asked to comment on the performance, rider G. Geran stated that the mare did not step well from the barriers and failed to show any early speed and when crowded for room in the early stages, was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated. G. Geran added the mare never travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure from the home turn did not respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing.

GOTEBO – Apprentice J. Metcalfe was questioned regarding the tactics adopted, specifically her riding in the middle stages when racing outside of the leader MUCHACHO. J. Metcalfe stated her instructions were to give the gelding a dig out of the barriers and to ride forward and find the fence. J. Metcalfe added that when racing forward she was unable to cross the leader and near the 1400m positioned her mount outside MUCHACHO. J. Metcalfe further added that the gelding never travelled comfortably and whilst she felt the tempo of the race was a bit quick, she could not hold her mount. Trainer P. Wallace confirmed the instruction’s adding that the gelding has had a previous throat operation and can choke down if restrained. Stewards’ in considering the evidence tendered, advised apprentice J. Metcalfe that she had made an error in judgement, whilst mindful of her instructions, she should have attempted to restrain her mount near the 1000m in an attempt to come back and sit off MUCHACHO, to allow the gelding to possibly settle and race at a more suitable tempo, which would benefit the gelding in its finishing effort. In considering the evidence, including the relative inexperience of apprentice J. Metcalfe, Stewards did not take any further action other than refer apprentice Metcalfe’s ride to the Racing Queensland Training department for further tuition. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

G. Geran’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 29 November 2025 and to expire midnight 10 December 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered G. Geran’s good record in relation to this rule, guilty plea and the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines. Apprentice K. Lenton was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(6)(c) for using her whip on her mount which is clearly out of contention. Apprentice K. Lenton reported that the mare felt sore in the front upon pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Co-trainer C. Lenton further added that PUROSANGE had also shown a keenness to proceed to the barriers like this evening, however she had no concerns with how the gelding arrived at the barriers and did not require any veterinary assessment.
