GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 4 – ELEANOR NANCY – K. Wilson-Taylor +0.5kg (55kg)
Race 4 – BRINGME – D. Boche +1kg (55kg)
Race 7 – RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – K. Wilson-Taylor +1kg (55kg)
 
Trainer B. Healey was fined $200 pursuant to AR296(2)(d)(ii) for having an inaccurate stable return for a runner engaged at todays meeting.

 
RACE 1: SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING MAIDEN PLATE 1625M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when a section of the running rail near the 1000m required repair.
 
ALZURRI – After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward to obtain the leading position near the 900m. Near the 300m, raced in restricted room to the inside of SICILIAN WARRIOR which commenced to lay in whilst tiring despite the efforts of its rider.
 
ATTACK FORCE (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with a rail leaving the enclosure and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 900m.
 
HELL TO THE LINE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SICILIAN WARRIOR – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TROFEO. Laid in over the final 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TROFEO – Change of tactics; Intention to be ridden with cover. Ridden accordingly. Bumped on jumping. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Stewart advised that when placed under pressure from the 600m, the gelding proved disappointing.
 
TURF GAZETTE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels near the 1100m and had to be steadied. Near the 300m, momentarily raced in restricted room.
 
BAMBINO DI VINO – Shifted out at the start and bumped TROFEO.
 
TSZYUYA – Began awkwardly.
 
KIDS INTHE KITCHEN – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten near the 150m. Obliged to alter course and shift out around the heels of ATTACK FORCE near the 100m. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners (hanging in).Trainer K. Kemp advised that he would consider the addition of blinkers at the geldings next start.
 
CONCADOR – Hampered shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened from the 400m revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
RACE 2: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes initially when WORTHY was fractious in the mounting enclosure and made heavy contact with a rail. The filly underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 3:00pm on veterinary advice. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on WORTHY be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st LET’SFACETHEMUSIC – 5c win, 6c place
2nd SPLASH LUMA – 7c place
3rd WISE CHOICE – 9c place
 
Trainer M. Nolan was advised that the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

The start was further delayed when IMMEDIATE cast its near-fore plate on route to the barriers and required farrier attention. Subsequently the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
LET'SFACETHEMUSIC – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LAKE NAGAMBIE – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Raced in restricted room for a short distance whilst weakening near the 200m. Jockey K. Yoshida could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SIMBA'S PRIDE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
RUGBY – Trainer N. Keal was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting the gelding with winkers and pre-race earmuffs which were not part of its approved gear. Bumped on jumping.
 
IMMEDIATE – Bumped on jumping.
 
LUCKY LASS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have lacerations to both hindlegs and received treatment by the on course veterinarian.  
 
AMORE SIRENA – Began awkwardly.
 
SPLASH LUMA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ARTIE VAINQUEUR – Momentarily held up near the 350m. Leaving the 200m, hampered and lost its rightful running when tightened by GROOVE JET which was taken in by WISE CHOICE (S. Tierney) which shifted in. Apprentice S. Tierney pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that leaving the 200m, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in under riding when not clear of GROOVE JET, which was taken into the line of ARTIE VAINQUEUR which was hampered and lost its rightful running. Apprentice Tierney’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 29th March 2026 and to expire midnight 5th April 2026.
 
GROOVE JET – Taken in by WISE CHOICE leaving the 200m, losing its rightful running.
 
VEGA NOVA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up approaching the home turn. Jockey N. Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations in relation to raising his whip arm above shoulder height.
 
 
RACE  3: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES PAT O'SHEA PLATE 1200 M
 
SWIFT DRAGON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Wiggins advised the gelding wasn’t suited to the early tempo of the race, however wasn’t overly disappointed with its efforts.
 
APOSTLE (NZ) – Jockey M. Du Plessis was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on 3 consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
BOOMELLI – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer’s representative was advised that the filly would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive with the results of an endoscopic examination prior to resuming.
 
HOLD MY HAND – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE  4: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1890M
 
PICKO ROCKS – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened from the 300m revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
DON'T DISS AROUND – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 900m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA – Near the 400m, raced in restricted room for a short distance inside MALECON which laid in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MALECON – Trainer M. Nolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting the gelding with winkers instead of the declared blinkers. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
KIRORO PEAK (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 400m, became momentarily awkward on the heels of MONASTERY which shifted out.
 
MONASTERY – Began awkwardly. Apprentice O. Webb reported the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise on return to the mounting enclosure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
GREY NORTHERN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ELEANOR NANCY – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after.
 
LITTLE VAIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the home straight on the first occasion, raced in restricted room to the inside of GREY NORTHERN.  Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BRINGME – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey D. Boche was fined $100 pursuant to AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight.
 
 
RACE  5: PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300M
 
STREAK OF WINNING – Cast its off-fore plate. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Butler reported the gelding was racing outside of its normal racing pattern in a more forward position to make use of the good barrier, however proved very disappointing in its finishing efforts. Jockey Butler added that the gelding may be better suited to racing with cover.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor abrasion to its near hindleg.
 
IONACELTIC – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Jones reported her mount failed to respond to her riding throughout the event and proved disappointing.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME – Obliged to alter course near the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
THATS ARCHIES GIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
LINWAR – Raced keenly in the middle stages, shifted out near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder.
 
 
RACE  6: DRACARYS STALLION QUEENSLAND COUNTRY GUINEAS 1625M
 
COASTAL COWBOY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
FLOP SHOT – Slow to begin and then hampered shortly after the start.
 
GO MARO – Raced keenly in the middle stages and had to be steadied after improving onto heels on a number of occasions.
 
WORTHY ENUFF – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GEITZ – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
HELLO DOLLY DIVA – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Leaving the 1000m, was steadied from the heels of WORTHY ENUFF (A. Jones) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A. Jones was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
LONESOME SOUL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight, obliging apprentice C. Baker to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.
 
NORTY FORTY – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SWEET POPPY – Eased down in the home straight. Jockey G. Cartwright could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Groves was advised the filly would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
 
RACE  7: SUB-ZERO AIRCONDITIONING KING OF THE MOUNTAIN HANDICAP 1200M
 
COMPELLING TRUTH – Raced wide throughout.
 
IT'SOURTIME – Momentarily steadied approaching the 250m when MOONHAVEN shifted out.
 
EXOTIQUE MISS – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced by a riderless horse near the 700m and shifted out.
 
REDZOUST – Slow to begin.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Dropped its head down as the start was effected, severely unbalancing and dislodging jockey N. Tomizawa. Jockey N. Tomizawa was examined by the QAS officials and transported to hospital for further observations. Jockey Tomizawa was advised that he would incur a 12 day stand down as per the QRIC Concussion Protocol and would be required to obtain a medical certificate and complete a satisfactory cognitive test prior to next riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
MOONHAVEN – Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn. Approaching the 250m, shifted in slightly and had to be steadied from the heels of EXOTIQUE MISS (B. Thompson) which shifted out. Jockey B. Thompson was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey G. Cartwright reported her mount over raced and in the early stages she was mindful of the riderless horse which obliged her to race wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
OBLIGATED – Held up on the entrance to the home straight.
 
TONNEOFGRIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE  8: MNP SECURITY BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000M
 
Due to jockey Tomizawa requiring transportation to hospital in the previous race, the start of this race was rescheduled to be run at 6:30pm.
 
ELECTED (IRE) – Near the 750m, raced in restricted room to the inside of REVALENE which was crowded by PENINSULA which was taken in by THE GAMBLING CREEK (D. Turner) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey D. Turner was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
ACRES AWAY – Raced wide throughout.
 
BEAU WITNESS – Very slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
SUNFALL – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a rearward position closer to the rails. Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice T. Fenlon reported the gelding was not suited to the step up in class. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TRAPEZE WARRIOR – Slow into stride.
 
REVALENE – Raced in restricted room near the 750m.
 
HEROIC CHIEF – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.  
 
PENINSULA – Raced in restricted room near the 750m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SEA COMMITS – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.
 
CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
