Stewards severely reprimanded trainer I. Turner for arriving late on course. LR30(1)(b)
RACE 1:LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1300 M
LUDIK - Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Tactics queried. When questioned, apprentice C. Krahnen explained that she was instructed from the wide gate to help the gelding begin and attempt to find a position midfield. She added that after beginning only fairly, she elected to settle at the rear of the field as to not cover additional ground from the wide draw. C Krahnen further added that in the early stages she believed the tempo of the race was only going to be moderate and so elected to not place her mount under pressure and when she finally did, when the tempo was stronger than expected, the gelding took some time to stride and regain contact with the bulk of the field. She felt that she may have been better suited encouraging her mount to tack onto the field earlier than she did on this occasion. Stewards agreed with C. Krahnen’s assessment and advised her that in their opinion she should have made use of her mount earlier, particularly between 1200m and 900m to maintain contact with the field. Trainer T. Pascoe confirmed the nature of the instructions and was surprised to see LUDIK so far back. He added that the intention will be to ride the gelding in a midfield positions at its next start.
SILENT FOX - Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 300m when on the heels of the weakening LIFE OF TREE.
RUN TO YOU – Slow to begin.
RUBAAHY – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping ZOUSAIN GIRL.
STYLISH JOKER – Began very awkwardly and then raced keenly in the early stage before commencing to over race whilst being restrained until passing the 800m. Approaching the 200m had to ease when close to the heels of RUBAAHY (S. Callow), which had shifted out when not quite clear. Apprentice S. Callow was advised to exercise further care in similar circumstances.
ZOUSAIN GIRL – Bumped on jumping away by RUBAAHY, which had begun awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event. Rider T. Brooker reported that the filly raced wide throughout the event and in her opinion this was detrimental to her mounts overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
BESIEGE – Began awkwardly then bumped by ZOUSAIN GIRL. Raced wide without cover in the early stages until finding cover near the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
RACE 2:SHANNON SIGN COMPANY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1300 M
Correct Weight was delayed, allowing Stewards the opportunity to view the official photo finish for 3rd place, before agreeing with the Judge’s decision and declaring Correct Weight.
ROMANTIC BUBBLE (NZ) - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice C. Southerland reported that the gelding raced keenly in the early stages and when placed under pressure passing the 500m failed to respond to his riding and was only fair to the finish. He added in his opinion the gelding may appreciate races over a distance further than today’s 1300m.
ARAMINTA – Slow into stride.
YES I'M UGLY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 900m was hampered and carried wider by FAR CRY which has shifted out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
STABILIZER - Raced keenly in the early stages when in the lead. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight. Near the 100m shifted out abruptly. Rider L. Tilley reported that the gelding raced fresh and keenly throughout the event and went at a tempo faster than he would have preferred. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
NEED FOR SPIETH – Slow to begin.
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.
MISS DRAMATIC – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.
Rider Les Tilley was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he failed to ride STABILIZER out to the end of the race, which in the opinion of the Stewards prevented STABILIZER from finishing in a closer position, that being 3rd place. Rider Les Tilley’s license to ride in races was suspended for two weeks, with the suspension commencing midnight 21 June and conclude midnight 5 July 2026, eligible to resume on July 6. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Les Tilley’s plea, record, the official margin of a nose between 3rd and 4th and the QRIC penalty guidelines.
RACE 3:BOTTLEMART BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 M
MISHANI EGO – Apprentice O. Kendal reported that after beginning only fairly, settled in a midfield position which was slightly further back than intended. She added that although she raced wide throughout the event the mare travelled well, but when placed under pressure passing the 400m only responded fairly to her riding and was disappointing to the finish. She added that in her opinion the mare may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions. Post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
WHISKY DREAM – Began awkwardly shifting in.
THUNDERING SOUL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay in throughout. Near the 300m when laying in, shifted in abruptly. Then commenced to hang in for the remainder of the event.
JEMELDI – Slow to begin.
SURREAL ASCOT – Raced keenly in the early stages.
CAN'T GETWHATIWANT – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was hampered by WHISKEY DREAM which had begun awkwardly. Approaching the 200m established a narrow run between SURREAL ASCOT, which was weakening and KING JESTER before shifting in and away from THUNDERING SOUL, which when laying in, shifted in. As a result was eased and briefly held up on the heels of KING JESTER before shifting in to obtain clear running. Stewards inquired into the incident near the 200m, whereby it was established that after CAN’T GETWAHTIWANT obtained a run near the 200m, it shifted in and away from THUNDERING SOUL, which placed CAN’T GETWHATIWANT in an awkward position on heels. Although Stewards believed that this was primarily a racing incident, reminded rider L Tilley, to take action sooner when his mounts are shifting as significant ground as he was on this occasion.
CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Approaching the 200m, when weakening, was eased when close to the heels of THUNDERING SOUL which had shifted in when laying in (L. Tilley). Rider L. Tilley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to show far greater care in similar circumstances.
RACE 4:BOSS BLOODSTOCK SHARES AVAILABLE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1110 M
SMART 'N' STYLISH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having not raced since July of 2024 and was passed fit. Slow to begin. Near the 300m when making ground had to ease and shift out and away from the heels of KOGA NINJA which had shifted in when weakening. Laid in under pressure on the straight.
DREAMWRITER – Rider A. BUTLER reported the mare failed to quicken when placed under pressure and raced flat. He further added that in his opinion the mare may appreciate a step up in distance at its next race start.
SPIRIT FOX – Slow to begin.
BEAU'S GIRL – Contacted the fence when leaving the mounting yard and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection. Passed fit to run. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the winning post, shifted in contacting the running rail and becoming slightly unbalanced.
ZAVEGA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Eased down over the final 100m. Apprentice C. LOWE reported that the filly felt uncomfortable in its action and so as a result she eased her mount down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards questioned apprentice C. Lowe in relation to her riding over the final 100m, as she was competing for fourth place. Noting C. Lowe’s comments in relation to how the filly felt in her action at this stage of the race took no further action other than reminding her of her obligation that if is safe to do so, she must ride her mounts out to the end of the race. Due to there being no significant findings in the post-race veterinary examination the Stewards will follow up with the stable over the coming days.
KOGA NINJA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 300m, when weakening, shifted in.
RACE 5:BROWN FAMILY WINE GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1640 M
Correct Weight was delayed to allow apprentice S. Callow and trainer K. Kemp to view the Stewards patrol footage before electing not to lodge an objection. As Stewards were of a similar view and were satisfied that any interference suffered would not warrant an amendment to the placing they declared Correct Weight.
MARENARO - Had some difficulty obtaining clear running at the entrance to the straight.
MOONSHINE RUN - Approaching the 300m, was bumped and carried wider by PINK VIXEN which had shifted out under pressure. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Near the 50m, brushed with PINK VIXEN.
GREY NORTHERN (NZ) - Slow to begin.
POWER PACK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1500m was eased and shifted in and away from the heels of PINK VIXEN.
PICKO ROCKS – Slow to begin. When questioned apprentice C. Baker explained that she was instructed to settle towards the rear of the field on the gelding. She added that it was the opinion of the trainer that PICKO ROCKS would appreciate races over a further distance, but due to the short freshen up between runs may need to be ridden from the 800m to finish off strong late. She added that despite her efforts in the early stages PICKO ROCKS failed to travel and lost contact with the bulk of the field. Apprentice C. Baker further stated that she agreed with the trainer’s assessment that the gelding would appreciate contesting races over a further distance and was surprised that after not showing speed in the early stages, once she had commenced heavy riding from the 800m finished the race off well. Stewards noted her comments.
INDY ROSE WARRIOR (NZ) – Rider C. Bennett was at a loss to explain the mare’s performance. Trainer S. Croxford reported that the mare does suffer from some breathing issues and in her opinion this may have contributed to today’s performance. Stewards advised trainer S. Croxford that a warning would now be placed on INDY ROSE WARRIOR (NZ) due to its poor performance.
BROOKLYN DAISY - Raced wide without cover for majority of the event. Commenced to weaken from the 800m and was eased down over the final 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near hind. Trainer D. Peoples was advised that BROOKLYN DAISY requires a veterinary clearance prior to its next engagement.
PINK VIXEN - Raced keenly in the middle stages when in the lead. Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300m, shifted out and bumped MOONSHINE RUN (NZ). Approaching the 50m, shifted out and brushed with MOONSHINE RUN (NZ).
POWER OF SUCCESS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1500m had to ease when in restricted room to the inside of POWER PACK which had shifted in and away from the heels of PINK VIXEN which had shifted in when not quite clear (S. Callow). Apprentice S. Callow was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground and advised to exercise far more care in similar circumstances.
RACE 6:SOUTHERN CROSS SHEDS CLASS 1 PLATE 2020 M
ADVANCE TO JAFFA – Raced wide without cover before being allowed to stride forward and settle in the lead near the 1200m. Commenced to weaken passing the 800m and was eased down from the 500m. Rider A. Bulter reported that although he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages, ADVANCE TO JAFFA weakened considerably from the 800m and was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer N. Keal was advised that the gelding is now suspended and must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official trial due to the gelding’s poor performance.
GRATIFICATION (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Passing the 400m briefly raced in restricted room between SOMETHIN IN ORANGE and BOLERO and then was bumped by SOMETHIN IN ORANGE which had shifted in.
SOMETHIN IN ORANGE – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, raced in restricted room between HELL TO THE LINE and GRATIFICATION (NZ). Rider A. Keeley reported that passing the winning post on the first occasion he was obligated to race in restricted room whilst restraining his mount as he had been instructed not to lead in today’s event and to race in a handy position with cover. He added that the gelding travelled well throughout the event but when placed under pressure responded only fairly to his riding and was even to the finish.
HELL TO THE LINE - Rider T. Brooker reported it was not her intention to lead in todays event but after beginning well and with riders to her inside showing a lack of intent to take up the lead she allowed her mount to stride forward and race in the lead. She further added that when rounding the turn at the bottom of the straight her mount, who was not used to racing in the lead, wanted to shift around underneath her and as a result it took some time for her to establish the lead.

Approaching the 400m was held up for clear running. Passing the 400m whilst being held up, laid in when close to the heels of ROYAL DRAMA and as a result had to ease before obtained clear running approaching the 300m Laid in under pressure in the straight.

RACE 8:SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1210 M
Prior to horses leaving the mounting yard the visibility due to fog was assessed by Stewards. With the riding group comfortable continuing riding, along with Stewards being satisfied that with Stewards situated around the course and with available patrol footage, the event could continue safely, the horses proceeded to the barriers as normal.
The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of LADY BARAROSSA.
ESAYPETA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 800m when racing keenly, had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of O’REILLYS SHOUT. Approaching the 600m, elected to shift in towards the rail.

JELAILA – Approaching the winning post, had to ease and shift out after improving close to the heels of USUAL LIMITS.

Kemp was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next engagement due to being lame in the near fore. Further the filly is now suspended for being fractious and must obtain a further barrier certificate.
