GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 4: BLUMSTEIN – D. Boche +1kg (55kg)

As B. Wheeler was not riding due to dehydration at today’s Gold Coast meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.

Stewards accepted the explanation from Co-trainer C. Geran regarding the late declaration of rider for ROYAL DIAMOND in race 1.

RACE 1:OBRIENCO TRANSPORT QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

CONCERNED – When asked to comment on the performance, rider H. Richardson stated she rode forward from the wide gate to obtain the lead, that her mount travelled comfortably, however failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure, adding that she felt the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DIAMOND OCEAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure shortly after entering the home straight until near the 100m. Rider G. Geran was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish.

GUNNA WANNABE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 800m was steadied from the heels of KING’S DIAMOND which was taken in marginally by NIFTY’S TREASURE. Approaching the 700m was momentarily steadied between KING’S DIAMOND and BEELZIE which both shifted marginally. Rider L. Tilley reported his mount raced greenly during the event.

KING'S DIAMOND – Leaving the 1100m was eased and lost its rightful running. H. Richardson, the rider of CONCERNED, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a), for permitting her mount to shift in leaving the 1100m when insufficiently clear of SHOES AND SOCKS (F. Sandkuhl), which was taken in across the running of KING’S DIAMOND (N. Fazackerley) which was eased and lost its rightful running. Jockey H. Richardson’s license to ride in races was suspended for 11 days commencing at midnight the 21st of June 2026 until midnight the 2nd of July 2026.

SHOES AND SOCKS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant laceration to the off-hind leg consistent with being galloped on and was subsequently treated on course. Trainer J. Hannah was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance before racing or trialing again.

BEELZIE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m was hampered when KING’S DIAMOND shifted out and away from NIFTY’S TREASURE, which after making heavy contact with JASMINTINA, shifted out.

DREAMS DON'T DIE – Raced greenly under pressure over the final 100m.

JASMINTINA – Jumped out at the start and bumped NIFTY’S TREASURE which became unbalanced. Approaching 1000m was crowded for room making contact with NIFTY’S TREASURE and becoming unbalanced.

NIFTY'S TREASURE – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. Approaching the 1000m taken in onto JASMINTINA (S. Callow) and as a result was crowded for room and making heavy contact, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. H. Richardson, the rider of CONCERNED, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a), for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, taking NIFTY’S TREASURE (K. Lenton) in onto JASMINTINA (S. Callow) resulting in both runners being crowded for room and making heavy contact, and both runners becoming unbalanced. Jockey H. Richardson’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days commencing at midnight the 21st of June 2026 until midnight the 29th of June 2026. Near the 800m was checked when JASMINTINA shifted out. At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards established that JASMINTINA (S. Callow) commenced to race fiercely leaving the 900m and improved quickly up onto the heels of SHOES AND SOCKS (F. Sandkuhl) and when being restrained, hung out clipping that runner’s heels, at which point when apprentice S. Callow attempted to avoid heels, JASMINTINA shifted out tightening NIFTY’S TREASURE which was checked. Stewards were satisfied that the incident was a result of the racing manners of JASMINTINA which proved difficult to ride at that stage of the race. Co-trainer B. Costello was advised that JASMINTINA would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

ROYAL DIAMOND – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 2:WESTERN TRUCK GROUP TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 M

The start of this event was delayed 2 minutes due to VON BEE (NZ) casting the near fore plate on arrival to the barriers. After the plate was reattached, underwent a veterinary inspection, and was cleared to race.

THUNDER AWARD - Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in for a short distance passing the 200m when placed under pressure with the whip.

THROW IT BACK -  Raced keenly in the early stages.

VON BEE (NZ) – Rider L. Tilley reported it was not his intention to lead, that after beginning well, he allowed his mount to stride and when runners to his inside did not improve, he was able to obtain a relatively easy lead. Raced keenly in the early stages.

WHITTAKER – Began awkwardly.

HUMAN TOUCH – Underwent a re-saddle upon arrival at the barriers. When asked to comment on the performance, rider G. Cartwright stated that the race was not run to suit her mount, that the mare was under pressure from the 600m and proved disappointing. Trainer P. Nolan (Jnr) stated that the mare was up in class and distance tonight and felt the horse was not suited to the track, which in his opinion was cutting up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RACE 3:TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M

Prior to correct weight, apprentice F. Sandkuhl and K. Kemp, the trainer of 2nd placed ELECTRIC ARROW, reviewed the Stewards patrol footage of the home straight. After deciding not to lodge an objection, correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.

LUTON HOO (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.

DATA LEAK – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider S. Bogenhuber was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

RACE 4:WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1625 M

LEG DRIVE – Laid in under pressure from the 200m until near the 100m.

KIDS INTHE KITCHEN – As the start was effected, put its head down and as a result was slow to begin and lost ground. Rider A. Keeley stated that after missing the start, he was obliged to race further back than anticipated. He added that his mount travelled comfortably and that when he placed the gelding under pressure from the 600m, the gelding was one paced and ran home fairly.

SUPER FAIR – Began awkwardly.

SILENT FOX – Apprentice K. Lenton reported it was not her intention to lead, that after beginning well, she was able to obtain the lead without pressuring her mount. Raced keenly in the early stages.          Leaving the 200m, momentarily steadied between HELL OF A PRINCE and JADDAF, which shifted out under pressure. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, specifically the positioning of her mount to race off the fence when leading, apprentice K. Lenton stated that when discussing the race with trainer D. Groves, they identified that the rail position was an inferior part of the track and therefore it was agreed to race off the fence. Stewards in noting the comments, advised K. Lenton that while she had raced in what she had identified as the better part of the track, her positioning had allowed JADDAF to improve to her inside near the 400m, and that she should be mindful of racing in the most competitive position where possible. Trainer D. Groves confirmed the instructions to apprentice K. Lenton, adding that the gelding had returned to his stable with minor lacerations to the off-hind leg and would now be sent for a spell.

BAMBINO DI VINO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer A. Reedy advised that the mare would be sent for a spell.

BRINGME – Slow to begin.

HELL OF A PRINCE - Raced keenly in the early stages.

RACE 5:1EQUINE - FOR THE EQUINE ATHLETE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 870 M

SILK SONIC – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, rider N. Tomizawa stated the mare travelled well to the 300m, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and did not feel comfortable in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ZOUSAIN'S CHOICE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 250m.

MR ENCORE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 6:WIN TELEVISION QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes, due to several runners being somewhat difficult to load.

I CAN HELP – Slow to begin and then hampered between runners.

TROOPER SAM – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Rider G. Cartwright could not offer any explanation for the disappointing performance.

DIVINELLE – Leaving the 200m shifted in under pressure and bumped MIDNIGHT MAGGIE (NZ). Rider A. Keeley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

GYPSY JOY – Jumped out at the start and bumped I CAN HELP. Raced wide throughout. Rounding the home turn, shifted out and away from TASSORTIUM which improved to its inside and as a result made the turn very wide.

MIDNIGHT MAGGIE (NZ) – Fractious in barriers and reared up prior to the start. Jumped in at the start and bumped I CAN HELP. Shortly after the start when being restrained to obtain cover, commenced to race keenly and shifted wider on the track, continued to race keenly during the middle stages. Bumped leaving the 200m. Apprentice F. Sandkuhl advised that she had struck her left foot on the barriers at the start and aggravated a previous non-racing injury. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly for her barrier and racing manners.

TASSORTIUM – Slow into stride and lost ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, specifically the decision to shift wider on the track approaching the home turn to make her run, apprentice K. Lenton stated that after being slow to begin, she was mindful of not being caught wide and allowed her mount to race comfortably with cover. She stated that upon review of the race, she had made an error of judgement and should have followed I CAN HELP, the eventual winner, instead of shifting out wider to make her run around the home turn. She added that she was not expecting runners on the inside and forward of her to shift ground and at the time made the decision to shift wider. Steward’s in considering the evidence, agreed with apprentice K. Lenton that she had made an error in judgement in not continuing to follow I CAN HELP around the home turn, to possibly obtain a run to the inside instead of shifting wider, they were however mindful of K. Lenton’s relative inexperience as an apprentice and that her error in judgement did not place her culpable under the rules of racing, and in not taking any further action, will refer her ride to the Racing Queensland training department for further tuition.

RACE 7:TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY MAIDEN PLATE 1890 M

I DROVE ALL NIGHT - Rider A. Keeley pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 12 occasions prior to the 100m, 14 times in total. A. Keeley’s license to ride in races was suspended for 10 days to commence midnight 20 June 2026, and to conclude midnight 30 June 2026.

RED CAPE – Began awkwardly. Raced at the tail of the field throughout. Placed under pressure by the rider near the 900m and commenced to lose ground from the 800m. Eased down by the rider near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer B. Costello was advised that in light of the poor performance, RED CAPE would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards, and further that the gelding’s nomination at provincial Tab meetings would not be accepted until it establishes more competitive form at country race meetings.

BETTER GO TORQUE – Slow to begin and then bumped. Raced keenly in the early stages.

ROYAL DRAMA – Jumped in at the start and bumped BETTER GO TORQUE.

JOSEPHINE OF TUFFY - Raced wide leaving passing the winning post on the first occasion before being allowed to stride and obtain a position outside the leader near the 1300m.
