SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Toowoomba Trackwork 02/07/2026:
 
Trackwork rider M. Nolan was fined the sum of $100 due to failing to have appropriate light and/or appropriate reflective gear whilst being mounted on a horse during darkness.
 
Apprentice S. Callow was fined the sum of $100 due to failing to have appropriate light and/or appropriate reflective gear whilst being mounted on a horse during darkness.
 
GENERAL
 
As rider D. Turner was unable to ride due to personal reasons, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.
 
Rider A. Keeley was delayed enroute to the course due to an inquiry he was involved in at Ipswich races and as a result he was replaced in Race 1. by A. Allen.
 
Trainer P. Webster was fined the sum of $200 due to the race day declaration of L. Tilly on THUNDERING SOUL.
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by rider L. Tilley for the reasons he was originally declared on BODYSNATCHER in Race 1. before being replaced.
 
Rider N.Tomizawa was severely reprimanded for leaving the racecourse without seeking permission from Stewards.  
 

RACE 1 MNP SECURITY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1050M

SPIRIT OF RIVERTON – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider L. Tilley reported that he was given the option from the wide barrier to either settle in a handy position, if the gelding was to begin well or settle towards the rear of the field as to not race wide. L. Tilley further reported that after beginning only fairly he elected to restrain his mount and settle at the rear of the field whereby his mount travelled keenly in the run. He added in his opinion the tempo of today’s event did not suit SPIRIT OF RIVERTON which would be better suited racing over distances further than today’s 1050m event.
 
DRACARIAN – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and the middle stages. Near the 900m had to ease and shift out when close to the heels of FLIRTATIOUS LASS, which had been taken in. Passing the 600m, when racing keenly, shifted out and bumped with RUN ZIGGY RUN. Near the 200m was hampered and carried wider by FLIRTATIOS LASS (N. Tomizawa) which had shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Rider N. Tomizawa was advised to exercise more care.
 
BODYSNATCHER – Unplaced $1.60 QOP fav. Rider J. Stanley was at a loss to explain the performance of his mount, other than in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated the tight turning Toowoomba surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BELTONE – Slow to begin. Rider A. Allen reported that his mount did not feel entirely comfortably in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
JIGADEE – Shortly after the start was bumped by RUN ZIGGY RUN which had shifted out.
 
RUN ZIGGY RUN – Near the 900m had to be steadied when in restricted room between JIGADEE and DRACARIAN which had shifted out when close to the heels of FLIRTATIOS LASS which had been carried in when close to the heels of CLAW MACHINE (App O. Kendal) which had shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice O. Kendal was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding. Passing the 600m was bumped by DRACARIAN which had shifted out when racing keenly. Rider K. Zechner reported his mount hung out throughout.
 
CLAW MACHINE – Began awkwardly.
 
MOVER AND SHAKER – Shortly after the start raced keenly whilst being restrained. Near the 750m had to be steadied when laying out rounding the turn.
 
RUPEEZY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to stable connections advising Stewards that the mare had pulled up sore behind at the end of its previous campaign and as a result had an extended spell. Passed fit. Underwent a further veterinary examination at the barriers due to blood being present in its mouth, which was attributed to RUPEEZY having a small lesion on its tongue, which had been aggravated on the way to the gates. After being attended to by the veterinarian was passed fit to start.

RACE 2 NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M         
DEEJAYWIP – Bumped on jumping awkwardly by GYPSY JOY which had begun awkwardly and then hampered when in restricted room between GYPSY JOY and SHES A BELLE. Approaching the 200m when making ground had to be steadied and alter course after improving up close to the heels of HURKLE DURKLE which when weakening was carried in by GOSSAMER GLOW.
 
LANGDOWN LEGACY - Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 150m was hampered and raced in restricted room when close to the heels of SHES A BELLE, which had shifted out under pressure (K. Yoshida). K. Yoshida was reprimanded under the provision of AR131(a) and advised to exercise far greater care in similar circumstances. QOP drifter. $3.20 out to $5. Rider A. Keeley report that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages but after receiving some interferences passing the 200m only found the line fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
IF YOU ASKED ME TO – Near the 600m was bumped and carried wider and as a result then raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event.

GOSSAMER GLOW – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 800m was taken in slightly by LANGDOWN LEGACY. Approaching the 600m clipped the heels of SHES A BELLE and blundered. Stewards inquired into the incident whereby it was established that GOSSAMER GLOW, who was briefly racing in restricted room, laid in and away from LANGDOWN LEGACY before then being awkwardly placed on the heels of SHES A BELLE before clipping heels and blundering. On the evidence it was deemed to be a racing incident. Held up for clear running passing the 400m before then being disappointed for a narrow run near the 200m between LANGDOWN LEGACY and SHES A BELLE before being close to the heels of SHES A BELLES momentarily and then shifting in to obtain clear running. Stewards spoke to apprentice B. Youngberry advisedly and reminded her to be mindful that when in positions close to heels, that she should be considering restraining her mounts rather than continuing to ride out as she did on this occasion.
 
REIGN OF DAME – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
I AM PIETRA – Reluctant to proceed to the gates and then took charge of its rider. Warned for its pre-race manners. Raced keenly through the middle stages. Approaching the 800m had to ease when in restricted room to the inside of GOSSAMER GLOW which had been taken in marginally by LANGDOWN LEGACY (A. Keeley). Rider A. Keeley was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. Leaving the 800m was bumped by DEEJAYWIP and became unbalanced. Near the 150m, when laying in was hampered when close to the heels of LANGDOWN LEGACY which had been hampered by SHES A BELLE.        
 
GYPSY JOY - Began awkwardly shifting out making contact with DEEJAYWIP.
 
TASSORTIUM – Slow into stride. Raced keenly through the middle stages. Passing the 300m was held up for clear running and then had to be checked passing the 200m when close to the heels of REIGN OF DAME (G. Geran). Then shifted out to obtain clear running near the 150m. When questioned about the reasons for being checked near the 200m, apprentice K. Lenton explained that as she was held up at the entrance to the straight her mount was building up momentum and at a point passing the 200m she was disappointed for a run and obliged to check before shifting wider to obtain clear running. Although Stewards were of the opinion that TASSORTIUM had begun to establish a position to the inside of REIGN OF DAME, before that mare shifted in, on the evidence provided by apprentice K. Lenton and observing the available footage could not be satisfied that apprentice K. Lenton was checked solely due to rider G. Geran shifting at this point. Nonetheless due to REIGN OF DAME shifting ground, Stewards believed it contributed to the incident and as a result rider G. Geran was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).

 
RACE 3 BOTTLEMART MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300M 
 
The start of this event was delayed by approximately 5 minutes due to LADY BARBAROSSA (K. Yoshida) being fractious in the gates. Once loaded became factious and as a result the bridle and blinkers both became dislodged. LADY BARBAROSSA was removed from the barriers, the blinkers and bridle were reapplied and then underwent a veterinarian examination, due to being fractious and was passed fit to start. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that LADY BARBAROSSA is now suspended and will need to official trial to the satisfaction of Stewards due to being fractious in the gates.   

PHOENIX LEGEND – Slow to begin. Rider B. Lerena reported that due to the delay in the start of the event, PHOENIX LEGEND was slow to begin and raced further back than intended.
 
BY THE DOZEN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 1000m, when racing keenly, had to be eased when in restricted room between BEELZIE and OUTAGES which had shifted in and away from SOMETHING SHINY. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOMETHING SHINY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide and without cover throughout.
 
MIGHTY WINSTON – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 1200m when over racing had to be eased when close to the heels of OUTAGES which had shifted in abruptly.
 
AMAZARA - Slow to begin. Apprentice K. Lenton reported that due to the delay in the start of the event her mount was slow to begin and raced further back than intended. She added that AMAZARA was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages and as a result lost contact with the bulk of the field despite her efforts.
 
ESAYPETA - Began awkwardly. Shifted out and bumped REDCLOUD. Eased down over the final 100m. Rider M Savva reported that the filly, which was only having its second race start, will derive benefit from further racing. She added that the filly raced greenly and made contact with the running rail on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery along with harsh bilateral lung sounds which could be attributed to a degree of exercised induced pulmonary hemorrhaging.
 
LADY BARBAROSSA - Began awkwardly. Wanted to lay in under pressure in the straight. Rider K. Yoshida reported with the filly being cantankerous behind the barriers and once loaded, he was of the opinion that this was detrimental to the overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ROSE OF CHANTILLY - Slow to begin. Near the 500m had to be eased when in restricted room between REDCLOUD and PHOENIX LEGEND. 
 
OUTAGES – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 1200m, shifted out and then became awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOMETHING SHINY and as a result shifted in abruptly.
 
REDCLOUD  – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly through the middle stages. Near the 700m shifted out and bumped MIGHTY WINSTON. Near the 600m, shifted out and bumped ROSE OF CHANTILLY. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

 
RACE 4 CREATE WITH COTTEE CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes due to the delay in Race 3.
 
Prior to correct weight being declared the Starter alerted Stewards that there may have been a false start due to a barrier malfunction and as a result the Starter was interviewed by Stewards. It was reported that after the clearance to riders had been given, the Starter initiated the start button and when doing so the barriers failed to open. Immediately, the Starter reset the barriers and as they were reset the gates opened simultaneously and the race commenced. Due to the race commencing moments after initiating the barriers, the Starter elected to not exercise her powers under AR202 and signal a false start due to barrier malfunction. After interviewing the Starter, Stewards watched the available patrol footage to ascertain if the race should stand. As Stewards were comfortably satisfied that the start was effected by the Starter and the delay in the gates being reset and opening was only slight, along with no runner being materially affected by the delay and in their opinion no rider placed at an advantage or disadvantage deemed the race to stand.
 
Correct weight was further delayed to allow rider L. Tilley to view the official photo finish before agreeing with the Judges placings. 
 
Following this event the barriers were tested on a number of occasions, where they functioned as normal and the meeting continued.

THUNDERING SOUL - Raced keenly through the middle stages. Wanted to lay in throughout. Near the 900m, when laying in, had to be eased when close to the heels of NORTH OF ELI.  
 
DEFIANT BOOM – Began awkwardly.
 
CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ) - Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.
 
HIDDEN NUGGET – Raced keenly in the lead.
 
MANPOWER – Apprentice B. Youngberry was harmlessly dislodged after being legged on in the mounting yard. Commenced very awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 200m shifted in and had to be eased when close to the heels of HIDDEN NUGGET. Shifted out under riding in the straight. 3rd place $1.70 fav. Apprentice B. Youngberry reported that her mount raced keenly and this may have been detrimental to the gelding’s finish. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
DEEP TIARA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 100m was hampered and carried wider by MANPOWER (B. Youngberry) which had shifted out under pressure. Apprentice B. Youngberry was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
STARSARISE – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Near the 600m improved up close to the heels of NORTH OF ELI and shifted out and bumped CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ)

 
RACE 5 BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed by 5 minutes due to DRANG A TANG who refused to load.

DRANG A TANG – Refused to load and was deemed a late scratched at 7.05pm. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was advised the gelding would be required to undertake two consecutive official trials to the satisfaction of Stewards due to refusing to load. Stewards ordered the following deductions for bets placed prior to 7:05pm as follows:
 
1st MIRRA IMPACT 3c w, 4c p
2nd WARRILLA GORRILLA 3c p
3rd FORT WILLIAM 5c p
 
MIRRA IMPACT – Had some difficulty obtaining entirely clear running at the entrance to the straight.
 
GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
ARIAT - When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare apprentice J. Newman explained that from the wide gate and with the mare being first up over 1300m, she elected to restrain her mount in an effort to not race unnecessarily wide and as a result settled towards the rear of the field which is further back than the mares normal racing pattern.
 
FORT WILLIAM – Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure in the straight.
 
HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Began very awkwardly shifting in and bumping PANTALONE which shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the  straight. Near the 150m, when laying in, was bumped and hampered by CANT GETWHATIWANT, which had been hampered by ROYAL BOMBADIER, which when suffering interference stepped out.
 
CAN'T GETWHATIWANT – Hampered on jumping away when tightened for room between
ROYAL BOMBADIER and WARILLA GORILLA. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Rounding the home turn brushed with ROYAL BOMBADIER on a number of occasions. Near the 150m was hampered and raced in restricted room.
 
ROYAL BOMBADIER– Began awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the 150m had to steadied and then was restrained away from the heels of FORT WILLIAM, which had shifted out under riding (S. Callow). Passing the 150m was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORT WILLIAM before shifting in to obtain clear running.
 
Apprentice S. Callow with the assistance of her master trainer K. Kemp pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding. The particulars being that approaching the 150m she permitted her mount to shift out, under riding, when insufficiently clear of ROYAL BOMADIER (N. Tomizawa) which was restrained away from her heels and lost its rightful running. S Callow had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 9 days to commenced midnight July 5th and conclude midnight July 14th, eligible to resume July 15th. S. Callow was advised of her rights of appeal.
 
RACE 6 DRACARYS STALLION CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1625M         
 
ZEAMAIZE– Began awkwardly.
 
WOOT WOOT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly through the early and middle stages.
 
CHESAPEAKE BABE (NZ) – Trainer D. O’Toole was reprimanded under the provisions of AR194 due to being late to the mounting yard. Slow to begin and then restrained. Settled at the rear of the field.
 
JOTOPELI – Passing the 300m was bumped by SWEET PRETENDER which had shifted in. Approaching the 100m shifted out and bumped with SWEET PRETENDER. Brushed with SWEET PRENTENDER over the concluding stages.
 
SWEET PRETENDER – Passing the 400m was bumped by JOTOPELI which had shifted out. Shifted in and bumped with JOTOPELI approaching the 100m. Brushed with JOTOPELI over the concluding stages.
 
SHE'S BRUTAL– Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned apprentice K.  Lenton explained that after the mare began only fairly, SHE’S BRUTAL raced keenly in the early and middle stages and failed to travel as expected down the hill and was only fair when placed under pressure in the straight. She added that in her opinion the mare might not run out a strong 1600m.
 
ZOUSAIN GIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
LIVEWIRE LASS – Raced wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
CALL SIGN – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with JOTOPELI. Eased down over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed harsh bilateral lung sounds which could be attributed to a degree of exercised induced pulmonary hemorrhaging. Trainer R Warzecha reported to Stewards that a decision on the geldings racing future will be made in the coming days.
 
FABARA – Weakened quickly when placed under pressure from the 500m. Rider M Savva reported that the mare travelled well but failed to respond to her riding from the 400m. A warning was placed on FABARA for its poor performance.

 
RACE 7 BETTER LAWYERS GROUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1890M

GREY NORTHERN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Passing the 100m had to be eased when close to the heels of MADALSA which had shifted out marginally under pressure.
 
THEBARBEROFSEVILLE – When questioned on the tactics adopted on the gelding, rider B. Larena explained that he was instructed to help the gelding begin and then give him a squeeze in an attempt to settle further forward than its recent starts. He added that although his intention was to be closer, he was surprised at how the gelding responded and as a result found the lead with little effort. Trainer M. Kropp confirmed the nature of the instructions but was surprised to see THEBARBEROFSEVILLE in the lead. He added he anticipated racing in a midfield to slightly better than midfield position. Stewards noted his comments and reminded M. Kropp of his obligations to advised Stewards to any change of instruction under the provisions of AR100.
 
MADALSA – Near the 800m was bumped and carried wider by BUMP’N’RUN which had shifted out. Near the 50m shifted in and bumped with BUMP’N’RUN.
 
POWER OF SUCCESS – Rider J P Stanley reported that the gelding put in an awkward stride near the 600m and although he then placed his mount under some more pressure, failed to respond to his riding and as a result he elected to ease the gelding down from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed harsh bilateral lung sounds which could be attributed to a degree of exercised induced pulmonary hemorrhaging. Due to rider J P Stanley’s concern with the action of POWER OF SUCCESS and the margin in which POWER OF SUCCESS was beaten, Stewards will follow up with the stable before deciding if any further action needs to be taken.
 
RUGBY – Near the 800m improved up onto the heels of SIR MEMPHIS and as a result shifted out abruptly. Trainer N. Keal explained that in his opinion the improved performance was due to the reapplication of blinkers, settling in a more forward position along with a quick back up for the disappointing performance at Gatton.
 
SIR MEMPHIS – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BLUMSTIEN – Began awkwardly.
 
SUPER FAIR – Slow to begin and then hampered by RUGBY which shifted in after jumping. Commenced to weaken by the 400m and was eased down for the final 200m. Apprentice M. Philpot reported that when placed under pressure SUPER FAIR failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrythmia (1st time). Trainer M. Callaghan was advised that SUPER FAIR must not start in a further race, official trial, or jump-out until the Stewards have received a satisfactory report from a qualified veterinary surgeon which includes the results of: (a) an electrocardiography (ECG) of more than 60 seconds duration performed by that veterinarian whilst the horse is at rest; and (b) a cardiac auscultation performed by that veterinarian within 15 minutes of the horse completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m.
 
PROPOSE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
HABERFIELD – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – Raced wide without cover in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward approaching the 1400m before settling outside the leader near the 900m. Near the 250m was bumped by RUGBY (M. Hellyer) which had shifted in. Jockey M. Hellyer was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.  Rider N Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish.
 
BUMP'N'RUN – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 800m shifted out and bumped MADALSA then shortly after was eased when close to the heels of RUGBY which had shifted out when close to the heels of SIR MEMPHIS. Wanted to lay in under pressure in the straight.  Near the 50m shifted out and bumped with MADALSA.
