GENERAL
 
Several horses engaged at this meeting were examined by race day Stewards in their oncourse stables. Due to these inspections, it was identified that DATA LEAK (Race 5) had some minor tenderness in a near fore leg and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed fit to start.
 
As there was no available apprentice, Stewards permitted trainer K. Kemp to engage M. Savva as the rider of ZHIVAGO BELLA in Race 1.
 
As apprentice M. Apel was required for an inquiry at the Gold Coast meeting and would have been unable to make her engagement in Race 5, she was replaced by apprentice C. Lowe.
 
Trainers M. Nolen, S. Croxford and D. Baker were all notified and reminded of their obligations under AR165(3) to remain on course until a minimum of 30 minutes following their respective races.
 
RACE 1 - PLATINUM GLASS & SECURITY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 870 M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes as JUST JIMMY underwent a resaddle on arrival at the barriers.
 
TOUCH BASE - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ON THE CUSP. Approaching the 50m, laid in and brushed the running rail. Trainer P. Webster was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being difficult to load.
 
JUST JIMMY - After racing wide in the early stages, was restrained before settling at the rear of the field near the 550m.
 
BURUM BEAU - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages and then over raced in middle stages.  Approaching the 700m when laying in had to be eased when close to the heels of DISCO DIAMOND. Passing the 600m when racing keenly, had to be steadied when close to the heels of KANNA KAMUI. Bumped near the 400m. Over the concluding stages shifted out under pressure. Rider K. Lenton reported that her mount wanted to lay in throughout and would derive benefit from further racing. Lost a near hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery and some minor lacerations on the right fore leg and right hind coronet.
 
KANNA KAMUI – On arrival to the barriers a small amount of blood was present in its mouth. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. On examination it was revealed that KANNA KAMUI had a loose tooth, after treatment was passed fit to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover for majority of the event. Near the 700m was bumped by LADY ESTELLE which had shifted out. Passing the 400m laid out and bumped the hind quarters of BURUM BEAU then raced greenly under pressure in the straight.
 
LADY ESTELLE - Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.          
 
ON THE CUSP - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with TOUCH BASE. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider K Yoshida was reminded of his obligations to not use his whip forward of the horse’s shoulder AR132(6)(a).
 
DISCO DIAMOND - Began awkwardly.  
 
ZHIVAGO BELLA - Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. Shifted out under pressure at the entrance to the straight. Approaching the 100m, commenced to shift in and race greenly under pressure. Near the 50m, had to be steadied when close to the heels of BURUM BEAU which had shifted out (K. Lenton). Apprentice K. Lenton was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to show far greater care when shifting ground.
 
RACE 2 - REMEMBERING DAVID WILKES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1200 M
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to view the back up photo finish image. Due to a software malfunction in the photo finish camera, the footage was unable to be broadcast on course. With the close margin between 3rd and 4th Stewards requested the back up photo be produced before agreeing with the Judges numbers and correct weight being declared.
 
LINWAR – Raced keenly in the early stages and commenced to over race in the middle stages while being restrained. When questioned, rider N. Fazackerley explained that his instructions were to begin neutral on the gelding and allow him to find his feet as his mount was first up from a spell and drawn out in a wide barrier. When asked if there was an opportunity to ride his mount forward passing the 1000m, rather than restraining as he did on this occasion. N. Fazackerley explained that as he approached the turn near the 800m, he did not want to use his mount and ride forward, as he believed he would have been obliged to race wide, which would have been detrimental to the chances of the gelding. He added that bearing in mind his mount being first up and with the tempo of the race appearing to be genuine, in his opinion, he elected to restrained his mount. He further added that the gelding wanted to get its head up on several occasions whilst restraining and proved difficult to bring back to find cover, which he achieved approaching the 700m. A post-race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.



PUREZZA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CHANGE THE DEEL. Passing the 1100m raced in restricted room between LOWESTOFT, which had shifted out marginally and CHANGE THE DEEL, which when racing in restricted room, shifted in. During the incident was contacted on a number of occasions until ultimately be restrained.

LOWESTOFT – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1100m, was bumped by DEEP TIARA and shifted out marginally. Rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped MERCHANT LADY. Near the 250m was carried wider by CHANGE THE DEEL, which had shifted out to improve.

PRINCE OF SYNERGY – Trainer S. Croxford was notified that a warning would be placed on the gelding for being reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.

UPSTART LOVER – Trainer M. Nolan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for being difficult to load. Unplaced $3.30 favourite. Apprentice K. Lenton reported that her mount raced flat and attributed this to the mare being second up. When questioned about the tempo of the race and her leading the event, she explained that after beginning on terms with the bulk of the field, she gave her mount a squeeze and UPSTART LOVER responded well, picking up the bit and travelling up in the lead at a tempo she felt was comfortable for the mare. K Lenton further reiterated that she could not explain the overall performance other than the mare raced flat. Trainer M. Nolen was at a loss to explain the performance of the mare who he reported had worked well in the lead up to today’s event. He added that post race the mare had pulled up well. Stewards requested that trainer M. Nolan report anything over the coming days which may have attributed to the disappointing performance.
 
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced since May 2025 and was passed fit. Shortly after the start was restrained to settle at the rear of the field. Passing the 600m lost contact with the bulk of the field despite the rider’s efforts. Apprentice O. Kendal reported that her mount was left flat footed as the tempo of the race increased and it took some time for the gelding to improve into the race. She added that once the gelding improved, he quickened well and she was satisfied with the overall performance. Stewards noted her comments.  


DEEP TIARA - Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m bumped LOWESTOFT.
 
MERCHANT LADY – Rounding the home turn was bumped and hampered by LOWESTOFT, which had shifted out.
 
SKIEDA – Shifted in after the start and made contact with CHANGE THE DEEL. Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event, commenced to weaken from the 400m.

CHANGE THE DEEL – Bumped at the start by PUREZZA, which had began awkwardly. Then contacted by SKIEDA, which had shifted in. Raced keenly in the early stages. Checked passing the 1100m when racing in restricted room and then awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKIEDA. Stewards inquired into the reasons for CHANGE THE DEEL being checked passing the 1100m, where it was established that approaching the 1100m LOWSTOFT was bumped by DEEP TIARA, which took that mare out slightly. As LOWSTOFT shifted out it placed PUREZZA in restricted room between LOWSTOFT and CHANGE THE DEEL before PUREZZA bumped the hindquarters of LOWESTOFT turning that mare and making LOWSTOFT step slightly further out. As a result, PUREZZA was bumped on a number of occasions between LOWSTOFT and CHANGE THE DEEL and raced tight before being restrained. Due to this bumping CHANGE THE DEEL was carried out slightly towards the heels of SKIEDA, who was gradually shifting in. On the available footage and evidence provided by the riders involved in the incident, Stewards reminded both L. Tilley and S. Bogenhuber of their obligation when shifting ground. In not taking the matter further Stewards felt that both riders only shifted marginally and attempted to release pressure as soon as possible. Performed above market expectations. Trainer P. Minter reported to Stewards that he was very pleased with the gelding’s work leading into today’s event and even though the 1200m is short of the gelding’s best distance, indicated that CHANGE THE DEEL’s fresh record was very good, which included strong performances over a similar distance.

RACE 3 - QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP      1050 M
 
ENTERPRISE LUCIA – Momentarily held up for clear running approaching and passing the 400m.      
 
KING JESTER – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

THUNDERING SOUL – Passing the 800m was eased after improving up onto the heels of KING JESTER.

JACKA STANDS ALONE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Weakened from the 300m. When weakening near the 200m, was eased when close to the heels of THAT’S ARCHIES GIRL (K. Lenton), which had shifted out to obtain clear running, when not fully clear. Apprentice K. Lenton was issued a severe reprimand under the provisions of AR131(a). QOP drifter $5 out to $9.50. Rider L. Tilley reported that after being obliged to race wide without cover through the majority of the event, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was eased down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HIDDEN NUGGET – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between ENTERPRISE LUCIA and ZA HIDDEN DRAGON both which had shifted ground. Approaching the 700m had to ease when close to the heels of BUTT HEADS, which had shifted in marginally. M. Savva was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Laid out rounding the home turn.        
 
ROTHGO – Underwent a pre-race examination after having not raced since November 2025 and was passed fit.        
 
BUTT HEADS – Shortly after the start raced in restricted room between HARD LANDING and JACKA STANDS ALONE (L. Tilley), which has shifted in. L. Tilley was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.          
 
THATS ARCHIES GIRL – Slow into stride, then restrained and hampered by JACKA STANDS ALONE before shifting in toward the rail. Held up for a short distance near the 250m, before shifting out. Stewards spoke to apprentice K. Lenton advisedly due to failing to stop her mounts from shifting ground in the straight.       
 
HARD LANDING – Shortly after the start raced in restricted room between BUTT HEADS and ZA HIDDEN DRAGON, eventually was steadied away from ZA HIDDEN DRAGON (S Sheargold), which had shifted out. S. Sheargold was advised to exercise greater care. Passing the 900m was checked when close to the heels of BUTT HEADS (M. Savva) which had shifted in when not clear. 
 
Rider M. Savva pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a), the particulars being that near the 900m rider M. Savva made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting into the line of HARD LANDING who had to check and as a result lost its rightful running. M. Savva had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight Saturday 25 July and concluding Tuesday 4 August, eligible to resume Wednesday 5 August 2026. In issuing penalty, Stewards considered her guilty plea, record and that her mount was racing keenly and the time of the incident. M. Savva was advised of her rights of appeal.

RACE 4 - COOPER COMMERCIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
I CAN HELP - Shortly after the start was bumped by I’M LUCKY TWO which began awkwardly.
 
JEANS - Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider N Tomizawa reported from his wide barrier he rode the gelding forward in an attempt to find the lead, which is the gelding’s usual racing pattern. He added that as his mount was unable to find the lead, he raced wide without cover for majority of the event. He further added that in his opinion, along with racing wide, the gelding may not have appreciated the back up after racing at the Gold Coast 11 July. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

I'M LUCKY TWO - Began very awkwardly unbalancing apprentice O. Kendal then shortly after was bumped on the hindquarters by STOUT HEARTED which after beginning awkwardly had shifted in. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running at the entrance to the straight.   
 
BRUTAL GLORY - Slow to begin. In the straight was hampered and carried wider by I CAN HELP which was shifting out when improving into the race.    
 
STOUT HEARTED - Approaching the 900m, had to be eased when close to the heels of LADY WILLPOWER (M. Hellyer). M. Hellyer was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Inclined to lay in throughout. Commenced to weaken from the 500m and eased down over the final 100m. Approaching the 350m when weakening raced in restricted room to the inside of BRUTAL GLORY. Had to be eased and wanted to lay out rounding the home turn. Apprentice C Lowe reported that the filly which was stepping up from maiden grade did not appreciate racing amongst runners and raced greenly throughout. She further added that the filly did not feel entirely comfortable in its action and as a result she eased down over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SHAHAR - Passing the 600m had to be eased when in restricted room to the inside of JEANS (N Tomizawa) which after laying out round the turn near the 700m had shifted back in when not quite clear. Rider N Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD - Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start was restrained. Tactics queried. When questioned, apprentice F. Sandkuhl explained that she had been given no firm instructions other than to get the gelding to relax. She added that after beginning only fairly she elected to restrain her mount and settle further back in the field, as to not race wide. F. Sandkhuhl added that in her opinion the gelding raced well in this position and found the line, advising connections that SPIRITOFTHEWORLD may be better suited being ridden in a similar manner at future race starts.
 
RACE 5 - FOCUS HR BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP   1640 M
 
GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) - Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Shortly after the start brushed with DOUBLE HUSSLE and then had to ease when in restricted room between DOUBLE HUSSLE and THE COPS which had shifted out marginally. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 800m when racing keenly brushed with the running rail on a number of occasions. Near the 500m had to ease when close to the heels of THE COPS (App. K. Lenton) who shifted in when not quite clear. K. Lenton was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

DATA LEAK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
POWER OF SUCCESS - Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 1100m.                
 
SWITCHBLADE - Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middles stages. Approaching the 1200m as the tempo of the race was steadied commenced to over race getting its head up on a number of occasions. Rider N. Fazakerley reported that with the addition of blinkers SWITCHBLADE raced keenly and the tempo of today’s event did not suit his mount.
 
THE COPS - Approaching the 500m shifted in from a one-off position to the rail. Shifted out under pressure in the straight. Stewards showed the available patrol footage of the race whereby apprentice K. Lenton agreed with Stewards that she may have been better suited maintaining her one-off position at the 500m, where she could of continued following the eventual winner. Stewards also spoke to K. Lenton advisedly about shifting ground in the straight. As Stewards had spoken to apprentice K. Lenton in a number of races over the evening for shifting ground, Stewards will request trainer N. Keal, her master, to provide some further education and guidance in this area.
 
ALL BLACK - Raced wide without cover in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to settle in the lead passing the 1100m.
 
SWEET PRETENDER - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 1100m when racing keenly had to be eased after improving up onto the heels of THE COPS. Laid in under pressure in the straight.    

DUBBLE HUSSLE – Shortly after the start was brushed by GREAT ASPIRATION. Raced keenly in the early stages.      

RACE 6 - HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY GRACIE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP   1640 M
 
MADALSA - Raced keenly in the middle stages. When racing keenly approaching the 1000m, shifted out and bumped JORUM. Was held up for clear running rounding the home turn until passing the 300m, then had to steady passing the 200m when close to the heels of CAITLIN (M. Hellyer) before obtaining clear running shortly after. M. Hellyer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Stewards noted that when they questioned M. Hellyer, he was unaware there was sufficient room to his inside for a runner and felt he had only slightly shifted away from the rail but agreed with Stewards that he should have done more when shifting ground.

MISTER SELFIE - Commenced awkwardly and shifted out and bumped with CAITLIN. After the meeting had concluded, on review of the films, Stewards identified that D. McGillivray may have been in breach of the rules surrounding his whip use within this race. Due to the lateness of the hour when this was identified and the fact that D. McGillivray had left the course. It was decided as to give him the opportunity to view the footage before inquiring into his whip use,  Stewards elected to adjourn and allow the films to be viewed at his next engagements at Sunshine Coast Sunday 19th of July whereby Stewards would determine if there was any further action that needed to be taken.
 
CONEY ISLAND BABY - Slow to begin. Then raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.

BLUMSTIEN - Approaching the 200m had some difficulty obtaining completely clear running.
 
TALLEYRAND - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Hung out round the home turn then continued to hang out badly, before being eased down by its rider passing the 200m. When questioned, apprentice K. Lenton explained that as her mount went to corner around the home turn, it commenced to hang out, to a point where she was unable to ride in her usual manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed harsh lung sounds which could be attributed to EIPH. Trainer R. Lipp was advised that TALLEYRAND is now suspended until gaining a further barrier certificate. Stewards will follow up with the trainer in relation to how the gelding returned to the stable.                 
 
CAITLIN - Began awkwardly shifting in and bumped with MISTER SELFIE. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) Slow to begin and then was hampered when tightened for room between MISTER SELFIE which had begun awkwardly and CAILTIN which had begun awkwardly. Shifted wider near the 1400m and was permitted to stride forward to settle in a handy position near the 1000m. Approaching the 100m when weakening was obliged to steady when close to the heels of TALLEYRAND which had shifted out when hanging out. When questioned, rider W. O’Connell explained that after beginning only fairly, he was further back in the field and felt it was best to allow his mount to stride forward as he was instructed to settle in a handy position. He added that he had to work a little harder than he would of liked to get the gelding into that position and in his opinion this may have been detrimental to its overall performance. Stewards noted his comments.
 
JORUM - Raced keenly in the early stages.  Passing the 1500m, raced in restricted room to the inside of TALLEYRAND (K. Lenton), K Lenton was advised to exercise far greater care in similar circumstances.
 
RACE 7 - JOE WAGNER GROUP MAIDEN HANDICAP          1100 M
 
SPIRIT OF RIVERTON - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped FLIRTATIOUS LASS. Raced keenly through the middle stages. Eased down over the final 100m. Rider B. Wheeler reported that he was instructed to be positive from the stable and after beginning only fairly urged his mount along in the early stages where it only responded fairly to his riding. He added that after other runners were showing superior speed, he had to restrain in an attempt to not race wide without cover. He added that the gelding never fully travelled throughout the event and would appreciate a step up in distance for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
LILI ANNA - Approaching the 800m was bumped by NASIRON.
 
MANDRIANA (NZ) - Laid out rounding the home turn then continued to lay out under pressure in the straight.
 
ENTERPRISE ALOISIA - Began awkwardly.
 
FLIRTATIOUS LASS - Bumped on jumping away by SPIRIT OF RIVERTON which had begun awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Eased down over the final 100m.  Rider N Tomizawa reported that due to the filly racing wide and without cover throughout the event in his opinion this was detrimental to her overall performance. Trainer M Nolan had no explanation for the performance but agreed with rider N Tomizawa’s explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed any abnormalities.
 
EXCEPTIONAL RUPERT - Raced keenly through the middle stages. Over the concluding stages had to ease when close to the heels of ENTERPRISE ALOISIA which was shifting out whilst weakening (G. Geran). Rider G Geran was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
 
THAT'S A BEAUTY - Approaching the 800m brushed with NASIRON. Passing the 250m after obtaining a run to the outside of MANDRIANA (NZ) steadied and shifted in (C Lowe). C Lowe was advised to exercise greater care. On return to scale apprentice K Lenton reported that in her opinion the filly did not feel entirely comfortable in its action on return to scale. A post-race veterinary failed to reveal any abnormalities.  
 
NASIRON - Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 800m when racing keenly and laying out brushed with THAT’S A BEAUTY and then stepped out and bumped LILI ANNA, as a result became unbalanced. Rider H Richardson reported that the gelding wanted to hang out throughout.
 
Following the running of this race, due to continual rain, Stewards downgraded the track to a Soft 5 at 8:30pm.

 
RACE 8 - PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS MAIDEN HANDICAP          1920 M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, rider D. McGillivray (CHAMPAGNE QUEEN, 4th place) viewed the Stewards patrol footage before lodging an objection against rider L. Tilley (I DROVE ALL NIGHT, 1st place) alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the available patrol footage it was established that at a point near the 100m CHAMPAGNE QUEEN after briefly being held up close to the heels of ACT ALONE, was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of I DROVE ALL NIGHT, which was laying in and ACTS ALONE, which was rolling around under pressure. Following this CHAMPAGNE QUEEN became held up on heels, before shifting wider to obtain clear running from the 50m. After considering the alleged interference and the margin, Stewards did not believe that CHAMPAGNE QUEEN ever established full running to the inside of I DROVE ALL NIGHT. On that basis any interference that had occurred would be a racing incident and not the fault of I DROVE ALL NIGHT and as a result dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judges numbers.
 
ACTS ALONE - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

BON ICHI - Fractious in barriers prior to the start being affected.

MR RACING - Slow to begin. Shortly after the start shifted in and clipped the heels of YELARBON LAD and blundered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed harsh lung sounds that could have been attributed to EIPH. When questioned in regards to her riding throughout the event apprentice C. Lowe explained that after the start she clipped heels and her mount took a few strides to pick itself up after the incident. She added that in the early stages she was unsure if she should continue to ride her mount, as it did not feel entirely comfortable. She continued by explaining that as she approached the 1600m her mount began to travel as normal, but by this stage she had lost some ground on the field. C Lowe further explained that through the middle stages she was keeping MR RACING in a rhythm and attempted to tack onto the bulk of the field. When placed under pressure from the 400m, MR RACING only responded fairly to her riding and commenced to lay in so she elected to ease down over the final 100m. Steward accepted her explanation for her riding throughout the event.
 
WAVES OF EMOCEAN (NZ) - Rounding the home turn raced in restricted room to the outside of I DROVE ALL NIGHT which when laying out shifted out. Rider L Tilley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

FLIRTING WITH FIRE (NZ) - Approaching the 800m when the tempo of the race had eased, improved up onto the heels onto YELARBON LAD and had to be steadied. Approaching the 600m elected to shift out and commence a four wide run. Over the concluding stages had to be eased when shifting out and away from CHAMPAGNE QUEEN(NZ) which had shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. Rider G Geran reported that the mare which had not raced since May will derive benefit from its first up run for the stable. He added that after beginning well he was obliged to settle further back than intended but was pleased with the overall performance of the mare.     
 
I DROVE ALL NIGHT – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

IT'S OK - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay out rounding the first turn. Laid out again near the 1400m. Commenced to weaken from the 500m and was eased down over the final 200m. Rider B Wheeler was advised to not use his whip when out of contention AR132(6)(c). When questioned, rider B Wheeler explained that the filly raced keenly in the lead and when placed under pressure passing the 600m failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SPRING RAIN - Bumped on jumping away by CHAMPAGNE QUEEN (NZ) which had begun awkwardly. Approaching the 600m was bumped and hampered by FLIRTING WITH FIRE (NZ) which had shifted out to improve into the race.
 
JOSEPHINE OF TUFFY - Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to settle outside the lead near the 1500m. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider N Tomizawa was severely reprimanded for having his arm above shoulder height on several occasions whilst using his whip in the straight. AR132(6)(b).

CHAMPAGNE QUEEN (NZ) - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SPRING RAIN. Approaching the 100m when making ground was disappointed for a narrow run between ACTS ALONE which had shifted out marginally and I DROVE ALL NIGHT which was laying in. Was then held up until passing the 50m where he elected to shift out to obtain clear running.

YES IS THE ANSWER - Bounded at the start and as a result was slow into stride. Raced wide without cover from the 800m. Passing the 200m when inclined to lay out raced in restricted room to the inside of FLIRTING WITH FIRE and had to ease.
