Race 2. Wanted Hillbilly
 
Trainer K. Clark-Peoples reported that Wanted Hillbilly had returned to the stable in good order, and her intention is to access the gelding over the coming days and decide if she’ll push on with his current preparation.
 
Race 5. Mishpat
 
Trainer B. Davis reported that he was satisfied with the mare on returned to the stable, which had also been assessed by his stable veterinarian, who found no abnormalities. He added his intention will be to continue on with its current preparation.
 
Race 6. Diamond Drunk

Trainer K. Clark- Peoples reported that the filly had returned in good order but will be sent for a spell due to immaturity.
 
Race 7. Ole Ali
 
Trainer M. Hemmings reported the gelding had returned to the stable well and was at a loss to explain the performance. He added that his intention was to give OLE ALI a short freshen up and return to the races. Due to the margin OLI ALI was beaten (43.97L) and there being no clear explanation for the performance M. Hemmings was advised that OLE ALI was now suspended to compete for a further barrier certificate due to its poor performance.

Apprentice R. Thornburn provided a medical clearance prior to riding.
 
 
Race 1 - 1EQUINE WEETWOOD SEPT 26 CLASS 4 HANDICAP   1300 M
 
I SEE YOU COMING – Trainer T. Thomas was reprimanded under AR194 for presenting the gelding late in the enclosure. Got its head up on leaving the gates. Shortly after the start was hampered and then shifted in to find cover. Apprentice R. Thorburn was fined $300 under AR131(b) for failing to ride the gelding out over the final 5 strides of the race.

ORIENTE – Unplaced favourite. Rider A. Allen reported his mount hung out from the 900m and proved difficult for him to ride in his usual manner in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 
 
LUNAR EIGHT – Began awkwardly. Apprentice S. Callow reported her mount hung in when under pressure round the home turn and in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 

OUT OF LUCK –Trainer I. Turner was reprimanded under AR106 for presenting the gelding in the mounting yard without its pre-race ear muffs. Slow into stride.

LINWAR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.         

CHANGE THE DEEL – When under pressure in the straight, laid in. Rider D. McGillivray dropped his whip near the 50m.

RUBAAHY – Near the 800m was eased when close to the heels of OUR SILVER LININGS. Passing the 200m steadied from heels of OUT OF LUCK (N. Tomizawa), which shifted out when not quite clear. Rider N. Tomizawa was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.

OUR SILVER LININGS (NZ) – Near the 800m steadied from the heels of LUNAR EIGHT (App S. Callow), which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice S. Callow was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.       


Race 2 - K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP   1300 M
 
KNOWITALL FRANK – Raced keen early. Shifted out abruptly near the 300m, making contact with LIFE OF TREE.

ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Resaddled at the start. When under pressure in the straight, laid in.

ATOMIC SELFIE – Checked when racing in restricted room passing the 400m between KNOWITALL FRANK and EZEIZA.          

LIFE OF TREE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Lay out round the home turn and passing the 300m, was bumped heavily by KNOWITALL FRANK (G. Geran), which shifted out abruptly to improve. Rider G. Geran was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Rider A. Allen reported the gelding laid out rounding the home turn and when under pressure in the home straight. Although his mount was inclined to lay out rider A. Allen was severely reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride the gelding out over the final 2 strides of the race. In accessing penalty Stewards believed his actions did not affect the placings.
 
EZEIZA – Rider A. Keeley could offer no explanation for the performance. Trainer P. Wallace said the mare had worked well leading into the race and was disappointed with the performance. He added he did not feel the track conditions were suitable for the mare, racing towards the fence. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SHOW ME THE STARS – Began awkwardly, brushed the hindquarters of ANYWAY YOU WANT IT, badly unbalancing apprentice R. Thorburn.

BRAVE EMMA – Stood flat-footed when gates opened and lost considerable ground (3L). Rider M. Savva reported that due to the mare standing flat footed, she did not anticipate her beginning when she did and as a result was on BRAVE EMMA’s mouth as she jumped, which added to the mare also being slow at the start. Stewards noted her comments. Trainer K. Kemp was notified the mare would be required to officially trial prior to racing again. He advised it was now his intention to spell BRAVE EMMA.
 
PRINCE OF SYNERGY – Hampered at the start when LOVE TO BE PROUD shifted out. Passing the 400m eased off the heels of ATOMIC SELFIE.

LOVE TO BE PROUD – Raced keenly in the early stages. Rider K. Yoshida reported his mount hung in from the 400m. Trainer B. Puckeridge was reprimanded under AR165(3) for removing the gelding from the racecourse prior to the prescribed time. In assessing the matter, consideration was given that there was a miscommunication between the trainer and his staff and when requested, returned from the float car park to the race day stalls.
 
SLUGWORTH – Began awkwardly and was bumped PRINCE SYNERGY.
 
SHE'S BRUTAL – Raced keen early when being restrained to settle at the rear of the field. Approaching the 900m eased when close to the heels of ANYWAY YOU WANT IT, which shifted out marginally.       


Race 3 - FLORENCE & MARABEL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP   1200 M

THE LITTLE PUMPER – Apprentice S. Callow reported the gelding may have choked down and recommended to connections the addition of a tongue tie. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Bell was at a loss to explain the performance, and it was the intention for the gelding to undergo an endoscopic examination prior to racing again, in which he would forward the results to Stewards if anything was discovered which could have contributed to the performance.

BORN FEARLESS – Tightened on leaving the gates when BUTT HEADS jumped in. Raced keenly when wide early and passing the 900m, was allowed to stride and take the lead approaching the 700m.

JUSTELA – Tightened onto rail and eased near the 900m.

OVER DRAFT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Warwick 4 August as a result was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 6.10pm when lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was notified that a veterinary certificate is required prior to racing again.

BUTT HEADS – Jumped in at the start.

MISTER SELFIE – Raced keen in the early and middle stages.

SCOTLAND – Began awkwardly.

PUREZZA – Raced ungenerously early and near the 900m, brushed with BUTT HEADS before shifting in and tightening JUSTELA onto the rail and having to be eased. PUREZZA continued to race ungenerously for a short distance after.

RUBOLOGY – Raced keen early. Lay in under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

Race 4 - CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 2 HANDICAP          1890 M
 
SEALORD (NZ) – When racing keenly, checked off the heels of CAITLIN approaching the 1600m.

EMPRESS ASPEN – Began awkwardly. Lay out rounding the home turn and passing the 300m, bumped with DOLLY DISCO.

BLUMSTIEN – Hampered near the 400m. Rider J. Molloy could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding, which settled further forward after beginning well stepping up in distance. Rider J. Molloy was fined $200 under AR211 for weighing in, in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight (Finished 8th).

BESIEGE – Began very awkwardly and shifted in. Approaching the 1600m, restrained when racing keen and close to the heels of BLUMSTEIN, which shifted in slightly. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. After being brushed by BLUMSTEIN near the 400m, lay in and hampered that gelding, whilst being corrected. In the incident, BESEIGE became unbalanced.

SHOT DOWN BY LOVE – Badly hampered when tightened at the start by BESEIGE, which began very awkwardly and shifted in. Held up for a run from approaching the 400m until near the 200m.

DOLLY DISCO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having raced at Warwick on August 4. Bumped at the start by BOLERO, which shifted out. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Bumped passing the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ROYAL GEORGE – Inconvenienced at the start.

BOLERO – Shifted out at the start.


Race 5 - EMPIRE OF JAPAN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP          1625 M
 
DILLINGER – Betting drifter QOP $10-15. Eased down over the final 100m. Rider M. Hellyer reported it was not the intention to lead but when no other runner showed the intention to go forward and being wide, he allowed the gelding to stride to the lead. He added he could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Bell was at a loss to explain the performance but highlighted that it had appeared to be difficult to race on the fence at tonight’s meeting, which could of attributed to the performance.

ZHENG YOU – Rider M. Savva reported the mare hung out from the 500m and proved difficult to ride.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Frappell was notified a warning would be placed on the mare for its racing manners.
 
THE CATCH – Raced keen early.

LIP SIP SUK – Raced keen in the early and middle stages when wide without cover.

MADALSA – Slow to begin. Apprentice C. Lowe reported after being slow to begin, the mare settled further back than expected. She added that the mare was not as sharp early racing on the back up from Toowoomba August 1.

Race 6 - LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA MAIDEN PLATE          1200 M

IT'S A LONG ROAD – Raced greenly for the majority of the race, particularly when under pressure in the home straight.

LYRICAL GANGSTER – Bumped with TOSCANELLA at the start. Raced keen early. Held up for a run from 500m until passing the 400m. Betting drifted QOP $3.9- $6.5. Co trainer C. Geran reported he was pleased with the overall performance of the gelding, which had worked well in the lead up to today’s event and could add nothing for the reason for the lack of market support.

CELTIC LIGHT – Raced without cover for the majority and when giving ground around the home turn, was inconvenienced and carried out when IT’S A LONG ROAD shifted out to improve. SHRIMPTON, which racing to the outside of CELCTIC LIGHT, was also inconvenienced.

SHRIMPTON – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn. Rider M. Hellyer reported the mare lay in throughout.

ZEPHYR SONG – 4th placed $1.60 favourite. Raced keen early when wide without cover. Rider N. Tomizawa reported it was his intention was to lead, but was unable to muster enough speed early over 1200m and as a result raced wide without cover throughout. Although he raced wide, added he was satisfied with the overall performance, which was first up from a let up. Co trainer C. Geran confirmed the instructions were to lead in today’s event if possible.

TOSCANELLA – Bumped with LYRICAL GANGSTER at the start.  


Race 7 - LAWRENCE & HANSON MAIDEN HANDICAP          1890 M
 
ACTS ALONE – After beginning awkwardly, was bumped by YES IS THE ANSWER, which also began awkwardly and shifted out. ACTS ALONE then shifted out and bumped MYSTIC ASCOT.

TRUST IN THE ROCK – Rider M. Hellyer reported that his mount wanted to lay in throughout.

MYSTIC ASCOT – Bumped at the start.

WAVES OF EMOCEAN (NZ) – Sat back as the gates opened and lost ground.

DURNESS (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered CONCADOR, which contacted the hindquarters of MINI BOO. Rider N. Tomizawa pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m and 16 in totality. N. Tomizawa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days commencing Midnight 16th August and conclude Midnight 24th August 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.

JUST BEAUTY – Eased near the 400m when awkwardly placed to the inside of ALZURRI, which was to the inside of TRUST IN THE ROCK, which when laying in was tight to the inside of MINI BOO.

YES IS THE ANSWER – Raced keen in the early and middle stages. Near the 400m raced in restricted room to the inside of JUST BEAUTY. Rider M. Savva reported the mare resented the addition of the tongue control for the first time. Trainer N. Keal said he would remove the gear and consider the future of the mare at the stable.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALZURRI – Near the 400m, raced in restricted room to the inside of TRUST IN THE ROCK, which was laying in. Rider K. Zechner reported the gelding raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

CONCADOR – Hampered at the start and contacted hindquarters.

MINI BOO – Had hindquarters contacted at start.
