GENERAL
 
After arriving on course, it was identified that STARSARISE, which was fractious in the float, had sustained an injury to its off-hind cannon. After being attended to by the on-course veterinarian, STARSARISE was deemed to be a late scratching at 4.42pm on veterinary advice. Trainer K. Clark Peoples was advised that STARSARISE would require a veterinary clearance prior to it’s next engagement. ULUWATU, which was travelling with STARSARISE was also examined and passed fit to start.
 
Rider B. Wheeler was stood down by QAS after the runner of Race 4. Due to a right shoulder injury. B. Wheeler was advised he must obtain a medical clearance prior to returning to riding.
 
Race 1 - DRACARYS STALLION BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP              1300 M
 
I STOLE IT – Reared as the start was affected and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover.
 
PUREZZA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers at the rider’s request and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages, approaching the 1000m commenced to over race shifting out and bumping SHES BRUTAL. Near the 900m, when over racing had to be steadied when close to the heels of SIMBA’S PRIDE which had laid out slightly. Inclined to lay in under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
SIMBA'S PRIDE – QOP $4.40-$2.90 firmer. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the turn near the 900m. Rider D. Peisley reported that the gelding on pulling up made a respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
 
CAPITAL CEE – Slow into stride. Made contact with the running rail rounding the turn near the 600m.
 
LOVE TO BE PROUD – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE'S BRUTAL – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages, passing the 1200m when racing keenly had to steadied when close to the heels of PEACH GALANTES which had shifted in (S. Callow). Apprentice S. Callow was advised to exercise more care. Approaching the 1000m when racing keenly was bumped and hampered by PUREZZA which when racing keenly, shifted out. Near the 800m was bumped and carried wider by PUREZZA which when overracing shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame to the near-hind leg. Trainer N. Keal was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next start.
 
INVISIBLE TARGET – Held up for clear running from passing the 500m until approaching the 300m.
 
PEACH GALANTES – Apprentice S. Callow was spoken to advisedly about her arm being raised above shoulder height when using her whip.
 
Race 2 - REMEMBERING PETER MCDOUGALL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP      1300 M
 
ULUWATU – Underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the float. Brushed the running rail near the 800m.
 
MISTER SELFIE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Wanted to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIR GOLDALOT – Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages. Approaching the 100m steadied and altered course to avoid the heels of CRACKER ESSGEE.
 
TOKYO BANDIT – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn and when under pressure in the home straight.
 
UPSTART LOVER – Proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Nolan was advised the mare would require a further barrier certificate prior to it’s next start due to being difficult to load. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
CRACKER ESSGEE – Near the 1100m was eased when close to the heels of WATER LAD (D. McGillivray) which had shifted in. Rider D. McGillivray was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
RUBAAHY –Near the 175m had to be steadied when in restricted room to the outside of TOKYO BANDIT, which when laying out, shifted out under riding (L. Tilley).  Rider L. Tilley was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting out when insufficiently clear.
 
ROWDASH - Raced keenly in the early stages whilst being restrained. Continued to be restrained until finding cover near the 800m.
 
Rider D. Peisley was reprimanded under the provisions of LR48 for leaving the course without seeking permission from Stewards.

Race 3 - QLD COTTON PART OF OLAM AGRI BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP      1110 M
 
ELECTROMAGNETIC – Slow into stride. Rider N Fazackerley reported that the gelding failed to travel throughout and was disappointing.  
 
HELL OF A LAD – Shortly after the start shifted out and away from GOOD ONYA CHAMP which had shifted out. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
 
CEEKAY'S CHOICE – Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
EINSTAG – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start was bumped and hampered when in restricted room between MONDELLO and HELL OF A LAD which had shifted out and away from GOOD ONYA CHAMP. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider B. Lerena reported that he was instructed to come out neutral on the gelding from the wide barrier, he added after being hampered shortly after the start he was obliged to settle towards the rear of the field which was further back than expected.
 
GOOD ONYA CHAMP - Bumped by STABILIZER at the start and then shifted out.
 
MONDELLO – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted in and bumped EINSTAG.  Over the concluding stages had to be eased when racing in restricted room between STABILIZER and HUMAN TOUCH. Apprentice K. Lenton was at a loss to explain the performance of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HUMAN TOUCH – Shortly after the start restrained to find cover. Held up for clear running from passing the 500m before shifting out into clear running approaching the 300m.
 
ARTIE VAINQUEUR – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
STABILIZER – Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped with GOOD ONYA CHAMP. Hung out rounding the home turn proving difficult for apprentice S Callow to ride out in a normal manner. Trainer B Baker was advised that STABILIZER is now suspended and must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards for hanging out. Apprentice S. Callow was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish. In accessing penalty, Stewards felt that over the concluding stages STABILIZER began to race tractably and S. Callow could have safely resumed riding. It was also noted that her actions would not have affected the prizemoney received by connections.
 
Race 4 - LUKE TAYLOR TRANSPORT TOOWOOMBA CLASS 2 HANDICAP      1625 M
 
ABRAHAM – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until approaching the 250m.  
 
BOLE LE – Delayed on return to scale. Rider B. Wheeler reported that over the concluding stages he felt pain in his right shoulder, which was attributed to a previous dislocation. After receiving treatment from QAS, B. Wheeler was stood down for his remaining engagements and was advised he will need to produce a medical clearance.
 
REDCLOUD – Shortly after the start was restrained from the wide barrier. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Near the 1300m shifted out abruptly on its own accord. Approaching the 100m brushed with PLAYFUL PUZZLE which had shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider G. Geran reported that the gelding was only fair when placed under full pressure, which he attributed to the tough run in transit. Rider G Geran pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) and was fined $300. In issuing penalty, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that his actions prevented his mount from finishing in a higher position.
 
APOLLO MOON - Shortly after the start was restrained from the wide barrier.
 
JAKEBRAKE – Began awkwardly shifting in and bumped LANE CHANGER. Raced wide without cover in the early stages and then permitted to stride forward before settling in the lead at the 1300m. Wanted to over-race in the middle stages when being restrained. Commenced to give ground near the 400m. Eased down from the 300m. Rider K. Yoshida reported that he had to make some use of his mount in the early and to not race wide, settled further forward than intended. He added that the gelding weakened quickly when placed under pressure and may not have appreciated a step up in grade and distance. Trainer R. Warzecha was at a loss to explain the performance. She was advised that JAKE BRAKE would be required to undergo a further barrier certificate prior to racing again due to its poor performance (margin 26.2L).
 
LANE CHANGER – Bumped at the start. Passing the 150m was disappointed for a run between REDCLOUD and PLAYFUL PUZZLE, which had shifted out.
 
PLAYFUL PUZZLE – Approaching the 100m shifted out and brushed with REDCLOUD.
 
SKIEDA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1200m when racing keenly was eased when close to the heels of REDCLOUD, which had shifted in marginally. Commenced a three wide run from the 700m. Near the 500m, clipped the heels of REDCLOUD unbalancing apprentice S. Callow. Commenced to give ground near the 400m. Eased down from the 300m. When questioned, apprentice S. Callow explained that near the 500m she was racing tight to the outside of RED CLOUD and in her opinion, due to a minor shift from her inside, clipped the near hind heel of REDCLOUD and became unbalanced. Due to this incident she elected to ease her mount down from the 400m. Stewards spoke to D. Turner (LANE CHANGER) and G. Geran (REDCLOUD) in relation to this incident. On the evidence, along with there being insufficient footage to determine if any one rider was to blame, advised all riders to be mindful when shifting ground and racing tightly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Due to this incident Stewards took no formal action against SKIEDA for the beaten margin.
 
SHOT DOWN BY LOVE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Wanted to lay out under pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight.
 
Race 5 - RDO EQUIPMENT BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP  1300 M
 
THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Shortly after the start restrained to find cover.
 
DON PEDRO – Knuckled at the start unbalancing apprentice C Lowe.
 
GALWAY HUSSLER – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m, improved up into the heels of ROTHGO and had to be eased.
 
IRAMA – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Wanted to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TUHINGA – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.
 
DON’T DISS AROUND – Slow to begin.
 
MISS DE MEDICI – Underwent a resaddle on arrival to the start. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance near the 300m. Wanted to lay in under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 6 - EMPIRE OF JAPAN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1300 M
 
BEITHIR – Began awkwardly.
 
IN THREE DEE – Wanted to over race in the middle stages. 
 
PORTLY JACK – Raced keen in the early stages. When racing keenly near the 1200m had to be eased when close to the heels to IN THREE DEE which had shifted in when not quite clear (L Tilley). L. Tilley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear.  
 
TISANI JAMES – Slow to begin.
 
TUXEDO TORPEDO – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and settle in the lead near the 900m.
 
ALL THOSE GLITTERS – Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to find cover. Rider S. Bogehuber reported that the filly raced greenly and will derive benefit from further racing.
 
DIAMOND IMPACT– Slow to begin (2L). After being slow to begin, then failed to muster speed in the early stages.
 
Race 7  - TAREQ'S HALFWAY TO 50 MAIDEN PLATE            870 M
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the available footage from the start.
ACES ARE GOOD – Rider M. Hellyer reported that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages and despite his urgings trailed the field throughout the event.A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrhythmia for the first time.  Trainer P. Wallace was advised that ACES ARE GOOD must not start in a further race, official trial or jump-out until the Stewards have received a satisfactory report from a qualified veterinary surgeon which includes the results of (a) an electrocardiography (ECG) of more than 60 seconds duration performed by that veterinarian whilst the horse is at rest and (b) a cardiac auscultation performed by that veterinarian within 15 minutes of the horse completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m.  
 
BRAZEN DIVA - Laid out round the turn near the 600m.
 
DAIANE– Near the 600m was brushed on the hind quarters by KRASAKI which had shifted out.
 
KRASAKI – Near the 600m, was eased and shifted out and away from BRAZEN DIVA which had laid out and as a result brushed DAIANE.
 
LOVE AND PAIN Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Passing the 100m laid in under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
Race 8 - BOTTLEMART MAIDEN HANDICAP             1625 M
 
SKELDERGATE - Rider N. Fazackerly was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for consecutive whip use on 1 occasion prior to the 100m.
 
SO YOU RECKON – Began awkwardly. Eased down from the 400m. Rider L. Tilley reported that the gelding would appreciate racing over further than today’s 1625m. Trainer V Heading was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for his performance.
 
IF YOU ASKED ME TO – Apprentice C Bellamy explained that’s she was instructed to be positive on the mare, who was stepping up in distance. She added it was her intent to settle in a handy position but after beginning well and riding forward in the early stages was able to find the lead. Trainer P Nolan Jnr confirmed the nature of the instructions and added his intention will be to instruct his riders to ride the mare in a handy position with cover at its next start.
 
IN THE HOLE TIGER – Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
GRANDSTANDER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
AMAZARA – Slow to begin. Performed below market expectations.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
 
HOOKED TO CONQUER  - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SHRIMPTON – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
